Hiya,

We are coming to San Francisco in November to get married. Original plan was to wed in Yosemite (and in fact we have that booked) but due to several reasons we are reconsidering this. We are thinking to get married in San Francisco city itself but are struggling to find a location that is affordable and caters for smaller parties (we will be about 12 adults at the most).

Any thoughts much appreciated. We did look into the Japanese Tea Gardens (as, ideally, we would prefer the ceremony outside) and I phoned the special events office in the city of SF (not sure exactly who I spoke to - the National Park service put me through) and was told you basically just walked in and had your ceremony - no need to book. Ok, sounds a bit strange so I called the Tea Gardens themselves and they said they absolutely do not allow any ceremonies in the gardens.... so we are totally confused on that issue and figure it will be easier to look elsewhere.

So yes, any suggestions would be great as everywhere we look just links to large mansions out in the napa valley etc (which look stunning but are too expensive and too far out the city). I should add that a lot of the party can not drive thus necessitating the less travel the better!

Thanks for any and all help,
Gaspodé

Gaspode, This is just a thought. I would look in the yellow pages for photographers. (Go with the ones with the bigger ads) They might be able to suggest a good location! :) Congratulations on your up-coming event!

Thanks TC!

It's been up and coming for a while now and, to be honest, starting to panic just a little!! LOL

I'll check out some photographers....

Congratulations.

There are a couple places in the park that are restricted, like the tea gardens. A really nice place in the park is called Fuchsia Dell, but I don't think it's in bloom in the winter. I would try for the Garden of Shakespeare's Flowers.

The Beach Chalet/Park Chalet Restaurant, in Golden Gate Park, is a restaurant that does weddings. It's on the ocean and has a view of the park

My favorite wedding place in all the bay area is 30 miles south of San Francisco Fogarty.

How 'bout a wedding cruise? Hornblower does wedding cruises of various sizes... but I am thinking it may be a little more for a bigger wedding. We had considered doing this for our 25th anniversary. but my dd and sil both get sea sick...bummer...

You can find the boats right on Fisherman's wharf... very convienent!

You might want to ask the Palace of Fine Arts too.

November in San Francisco can be nice. Middle of the day is best to avoid the heavy fog and chillier temps.

Personally I think SF is a very romantic city.

Congratulations!:bride:
