Hi everyone,

My family and I will be going to LA in August and will be taking a side trip to San Diego. Are there any not to be missed destinations (besides the zoo!!!!) or dining places?

thanks!!

oh! and any hotels/motels/inns that you can recommend! (under $90ish a night!)

Go to Long Beach & do the Aquarium of the Pacific, I know its not San Diego, but it probaly only a hour or so north...That might of been our favorite thing we did from our trip last week...:D

Well, I feel that Seaport Village is a must as is Anthony's Fish Grotto for some real good seafood. Right by Anthony's is a real neat old ship, whose name is escaping me right now. I would also make a point of going to Balboa Park, as it is one of my favorite places to spend a day. Also top on my list is Old Town and there is a real nice Mexican restuarant (sp) there as well, can't recall the name though, sorry. I love San Diego and could list tons of places to go that i feel are not to be missed.

No help on the hotels, as it has been a long time since I have been there.

Check out this site: http://www.gaslamp.org/

Sea World is a must-do - it's soooo much better than Orlando's weak version. There are a lot of discounts for lodging through any of the travelocity/priceline type sites - lots of AAA discounts as well. Find what you're interested in first (on the bay, in the gaslamp area, etc.) and then find your lodging. You'll love San Diego.

I love San Diego and could spend a week there easily. Check out www.localwally.com. Its a great "Sandy Eggo" web site with lots of good ideas for hotels and restaurants, not to mention the major attractions.

thanks guys!!! any advice on where to stay?

It really depends upon your budget and your tastes. We stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Del Coronado, pricey but a great experience. The other five nights we stayed at the Marriott Hotel and Marina. We loved it. Great location, easy walk to the Gas lamp district, wonderful pool area, beautiful hotel.
