Same room, separate charging privileges

Hello,

We are three adults travelling together and sharing a room. I know on the old KTTW system, there used to be a way you could request that each member in room had their KKTW card linked to their own credit card, so that once in the parks, any charges made 'to the room' went directly onto a separate bill. So there would effectively be three credit cards on file, each one linked to the appropriate person, and therefore charging privileges created three separate bills. Now, I never actually tried to get this done, but had read about it on the Dis in the good ole days!

I am wondering now, with the new Magic Band technology, if something similar is doable. Normally we end have to work out who bought what, who owes what, and going to GS to pay three different random amounts via three different transactions. It can get a bit annoying, frustrating and time consuming, for us and GS. If we can have three CCs on file, linked to appropriate people, then we don't need to worry about working out and paying the differing amounts!

Is this doable at all? Is there a special name for it that we need to request at check in? Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

We have done this several times. I do suggest that you verify early in your stay that the charges are being divided correctly. We did have one instance where the CM had my magic band purchases going to my sisters account instead of mine. We checked our bill after the first day and caught it early. The CM was able to correct the mistake and moved my charges without trouble.

It is doable, but like the previous poster stated, double check with the front desk after you have all charged something. My trip last November we had separate cards on file and made sure things were separate towards the end and my card still got charged for my aunt's purchases. Luckily the front desk was able to refund me and fix the situation immediately.

Thank you @Tinker Tbell and @jerzeystar09 for your feedback. I have a few more questions, that maybe people can answer, maybe they can't.

1. Is there anything specific, any terminology, that I should use when trying to explain what we are after, or will the GS team know what I am talking about?
2. Is this something that could be done after check-in? So, for instance, if we send one person to check-in and had one card registered to all, could we go back later and add the other cards? Or do we need to all be there at check in to make it work?
3. We have a multiple stay (2 different WDW hotels, then cruise, then back to WDW hotel). Will we need to go through the adding individual cards every check-in, or will it all be on record after the first check-in?

Thanks. Sorry those questions are all a little specific! Not to worry if no one can help with those. Worst case, well just charge separately on the longer WDW hotel stay :)

1. "allocation" you want to make sure that if bobby and jane are sharing a card that they are allocated to that account and that susie and jim are allocated to their card.

2. you can do it at anytime. so if you want to start with everyone having charging privileges to one card or only your direct family - the rest of the party can do it later. However, whenever you decide to do it you must go to the physical desk with the physical credit card.

3. You will have to do it each time you check in.

The room charge invoice that they provide for guests will list the name of everyone who charged to that room. So you will be able to see who made a charge and if it didn't go to the correct credit card then you can have them fix it. Make sure you go to the front desk when you first check in and then go back again during the trip, It is a lot easier to fix before check out. I stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with several adults and my sister ended up being charged for our park tickets. We didn't discover it until she got her invoice after check out, so I had to call bookkeeping and have them fix it. I had bought those tickets months earlier so why they got switched to her card I will never know.

Thanks for all the replies. We normally get print outs every couple of days and pay off so we know how much money we have left, otherwise it tends to disappear, so keeping track will not be so difficult. I an thinking that we will go with the one card on the short stays, and individual cards on the long stay, since we have to do it each check-in. :)

Does it list the name of the person who made each individual purchase or just who has charging privileges?

I just called about this last night since we want each magic band to be allocated to a separate charge card. I was told that when we get there to just tell the front desk that we all want separate charging privileges. Each person has to show their band and present the card they want to link to that particular band. Hopefully it is as simple as it seems.

I can't emphasize enough to check your statements soon after checking in if you have multiple credit cards on the same room. When we traveled with my son and his GF, we set it up so what DH and I charged would go to my CC, and what DS/Gf charged would go to his credit card at check in. On day 3 I found all charges were sent to my CC, went to the front desk and had them split them off. By day 6 all charges were still going to my CC. Finally got it fixed but DS was shocked at how much was charged to him since everytime he checked his charges were days behind what he had actually charged because of the SNAFU.

I fourth (or 5th??) that you check your print outs as soon as possible. My girlfriend and I had specifically asked for this. We did a bit of spending and then had them check. Yes, it seemed fine. Until I suddenly hit my $500 limit and found out that all of her charges after the time we checked, went to my card. It was kind of a pain getting them separated back out. Ran into the same situation on the following trip as well. For our upcoming trip, neither of us is going to shop with the band. We are both getting Disney gift cards to use so there isn't any confusion and we don't have to waste lots of time at guest services getting it fixed again.
