Same Day FOP FP Experiences

I'm trying to figure out the best strategy for trying to get an FOP FP on the day we're there for my party of 5. For those of you who have managed to snag one, how many people were in your party, did you break it up, and if you broke your party up were you able to get FPs for all of the smaller parties? Thanks.

I saw FP+ in Oct on same day, but it was just a party of 2. Not sure about larger parties, but I would still be checking!

Check, refresh, keep checking. I've done it several times, although not for a party of 5. Yet I think it's quite possible. Also, try the night before. I've had luck then as well.

We've gotten them several times, one day we even got them twice in one day, could have gotten a 3rd but were unable to stay in the park for the night so I didn't book it. However, we were only looking for 2 so I'm certain that played in to it.

Five's a very tough number for FPs. I think your best best is to plan on splitting them, because if you're looking for fives, you're a lot less likely to find them than twos, threes or even fours.

Yeah, but I'm thinking what would happen would be that I'd get it for half of us and not the other. I don't think it would be possible at all to get them overlapping but at least if we can get two sets of them, I'm fine with making two trips over there. I'm curious what people have been successful with.

One morning, I refreshed near constantly on the hour long drive over there (I was a passener), then on the tram, then while waiting for security, and finally got two fp shortly after walking in the park. We opened the park and the fp were for the early afternoon. I had passed up just one set of fp that were
in the late evening.

I know I cancelled 5 in one shot. I felt really bad about it because I know how some struggle to get that FP+ but we had a set of 5 for our AK night last summer but it was late and my kids were just done! I tried and tried to convince them to stay but 3 tired kids wasn't willing to force it, especially with the long walk back to the car. We cancelled our set of 5 about 90 minutes prior to it's start time. Hopefully I made someone happy.

Not sure what you mean by "all the way out" exactly but the way you search for other times or other available FP is to select any available FP and then select Modify and then select a time and then switch between each time box, going back and forth. Each time you pick a time, new FP will appear as choices. The system is designed in such a way that every available FP do not appear each time you select a time, for whatever reason. New ones appear each time. And no, there is no way they change that much that fast. Once you do it enough you'll see what I mean.

For FoP, it's the top FP on the list at AK, so if there's one available, it will show at the top of the list, below the one you are modifying.

We got them for 7, mid-afternoon, first week of August. I broke our party up into groups of 2, 2, and 3 and managed to get them all overlapping.

I had zero luck the Tuesday after Presidents Day for just two. I literally was refreshing the entire day while at AK. I then just started looking for 1 just for the heck of it (but it was just me and my 7 year old so wouldn't have been able to use it). It's sad thinking my focus was spent way too much on FOP. I tried to get my DD7 to get there early but it was "her trip" and I wanted to let her call the shots... so there we sat playing dolls at Pop until 9:30 AM. It's a memory I will cherish forever, but I knew hopes of FOP were out there window. I told her the choices. I'm happy I made her happy though. I will say around 1:00 that day she couldn't understand fully why we weren't going to ride it that day though.

I only leave it on the Modify FP screen while I'm actively looking for a new time. If I quit for a while I go back to the list of plans screen and start over again when I'm ready to search for times again. MDE is bad about timing out when not in use so I would not trust it to "keep the info current" so to speak, when not in use. Hopefully I also make some sort of sense.

Woohoo! Just scored FOP for our fifth fastpass of the day. We rode it this morning with a fastpass and got one at 2 pm for 6 pm. I don’t love waiting four hours for my next fastpass, but at least at AK there are plenty of shows and things to see in the meantime.

We already did FOP, KS, and EE twice with fastpasses, so getting FOP for a fifth is really nice.

Just two. Definitely easier to get fastpasses for two.
