Oh Sam! I am sooo sorry about your dress.

That is such a wonderful story behind it and I can't imagine how disapointed you must be! Drink that wine girl

... you'll feel better in no time

! In all seriousness though do you think there is ANY chance it can be altered? I know taking a dress in is way easier than letting it out but maybe a super duper talented seamstress could do it? Otherwise does the designer still make the dress?

Maybe you could just order the same dresss in the right size? On a happier note... I am still working my way back through everything I've missed in your PJ. It looks like your trip was amazing with lots of Pixie dust... Grand Marshalls are you kidding me? You are one lucky girl even if the dress won't fit! Hang in there girl!
Thanks Adelia, I am pretty upset about the dress, but I am going to try and get creative... I was just so upset last (still am really, but oh well).
I am glad your back, we missed you on here! And being Grand Marshal is probably cooler then a wedding dress lol!
Hey Sam! I see your posts all over the place, but I just now had a chance to check out your PJ. I still have a lot to catch up on, but so far everything looks great. I love the pics of you and your DF! You guys are adorable together. And I totally love your engagement pictures!!!
About your dress - why don't you take it to see if it is possible to have it altered? If not, can you possibly have a new one created with the material out of it? Maybe have a dressmaker add in some panels to change it around a bit, but still keep the basic idea. I'm sure that there is some way to make it work! Keep your chin up!
Thanks for coming over

The Epics were a lot of fun

.
I am thinking about what options I have with the dress, hopefully we will think of something.
Oh Sam! Sorry to hear about the dress. I'm sure there will be someway to honor your grandmother. Is there anyway to have it altered or use it to make another dress (I think I read someone on here doing that)!?
Well, go ahead and drink your wine, that will help for now anyway. Sorry to hear that!
Yes, the wine helped for sure but I am still trying to think about what to do with it... I got a recommendation of a good tailor so I may take it by this week to see what can be done... hopefully theycan do something
Oh no Sam!
Well I was going to say what Tanya said, but she posted it while I was flipping back to see the pics of your dress haha.
Seriously though take it to a seamstress. I had a bridesmaid dress that was too small last year and Carolyn Allen's did a fantastic job of making it fit. Granted it was only one size too small. But you never know, maybe like Tanya said they can piece together a new dress. Is your grandmothers dress still around, the one she wore at her wedding? Maybe the two dresses can be combined into something even more fabulous and more meaningful.
Just remember that everything happens for a reason and it may seam like a terrible thing now, but I'm sure in the end it will work out.
thanks Becky, I think your right, I will see about a tailor then if not I guess it's time to go shopping again... oh well
Sam, I'm so sorry about the dress. I hope you are able to get it altered.
If you can't, can you incorporate parts of it into another dress?
I thought of that, but a part of me hates the idea of cutting up my dress for some reason... I guess if I could make something else into it it would be ok...
Awe Sam
Dont worry sweetie i'm sure something will be figured out. Most of the girls already said what i was thinking, like letting the dress out, or incorporating it dress with your GM's wedding dress to make it more meaningful, ect. You've been having so much pixie dust in your life lately that something good will defiantly come out of this.
I asked my dad if her wedding dress was around anywhere but she left in Cuba when she immigrated so I think thats out lol! But I taking it in next week so hopefully we'll see something.
Oh Sam that story is lovely!! Is there anything you can do with the dress?? You could always save it and make it a christening gown (if you are planning on kids...). Or maybe use part of it in the wedding in another way???
I do like that idea a lot actually! I guess it could be a special gown for a christening and have even more meaning. Great idea Mandy! Thank you for it
Ok....55 pages done. whoo...only took 4 days and basically only reading your PJ, haha. First off, the whole thing sounds amazing! I love the way you write, and your ring is so beautiful and unique!! Your TR is awesome. Congrats on being the grand marshall!! And I totally need to know where you got that shirt! Please...oh pretty please PM it to me?
And I totally know about the goofy big smile face. That's what I had when DF proposed, walking around NYC
Sorry about your knee and the brace. I'm pretty clutzy too...must be a Sam thing.
And sorry about the dress. It's hard buying something so far in advance. But the story is so beautiful. Part of the reason why I want to move the wedding up is so my Oma (grandma) will be there. She's turning 86 on Monday. I think you should definitely see about letting the dress out. Or adding part of it to your new dress. Or making the fabric into a runner for your table or a chuppah or something. I definitely wouldn't suggest forcing yourself into a size 2 dress. You are beautiful (and you got great legs!!

...must be the dancing!)
I know things will work out and I can't wait to read more!
Super cute engagement shoots btw. I love the one of you guys with the lake and the globe behind you, and the ones with the fence. How did you like the quality of the Disney photos?
Haha thanks Sam! I get kinda wordy lol! I totally hear you about the grandma thing... I think that is why I really want to keep the dress... and I think making myself a size 2 again is just never gonna happen lol!
Oh Sam, im so sorry for you. I wish i could help you, like all the others have said; is there any way an extra panel on the back could be added? (im sure they could add panels and then do a corset back?-i dunno im just guessing..) Im sure that with todays talented seamstresses out there- im sure someone can do something because you need that dress hun, i didnt realise the story behind it- its so lovely. 3 or 4 sizes is not that small at all, if its any consolation, when i tried on a few dresses, they were a UK size 8- and im a 14- and they told me how they alter dresses and use material inside the gown and use a corset back if a bride wanted to buy a sample off the hanger if it wasnt her size - so its worth a try going around a few places to hear what different seamstresses can work their magic.
I am drinking wine as i type, and i will sure pour another glass and drink it for you! heh.

Thanks Stacey, I will have to see about a corset back, I am usually so uncomfortable in a corset though, so that is my only concern. But I will see whatthe seamstress says. The thing with the dress is it has a mesh and bead overlay which looks like it cannot be added too without veryu obvious seams or $$ because of the time in the beading that would be involved... we'll see
SAM
DO NOT BE UPSET
Why dont you make your veil, pocketbook and garter out of it. Better yet sent it my way and I will work my seamstress magic and help you out?
<3
What do you not do well Jenny! You are wonder women! But a trip to the city would be fun no matter what
and ps- there is a way to alter the dress. If you make it a corset they can add two peices of fabric to the back and then use the huge ribbon as a closed corset which will cover the rest.
I will try to find pictures for u okay?
Oh thank you! I am just so nervous nd upset about the dress I think I am way too emotional... darn being a crier!
Oh no! I'm so sorry Sam! I'm sure it will work out, though, keep a positive spirit about it. Looks like all the ladies here have a lot of ideas for you- I would really see about that corset (and corset's are so cute too!!). It might end up making the dress even more beautiful!
Hang in there!! Hugs!!
Thanks, I am going to mention it to the tailor and see what she says
Sam.. i will pop to my neighbours house as she used to be a tailor and dress maker and i will show her the pic of the dress back and ask her if it can be altered.... i will be back on here soon to let you know!! (heh, first i need to get my butt up from watching SATC and drinking my wine!) ....
Hun, i wouldnt worry!! I will let you know what she says...
Awww thanks Stacey, and I am watching SATC right now too! Gotta love Saturday TV
