We have always bought our Disney gift cards at Sam’s for our trips. We went yesterday to buy them for our upcoming trip. We had $5,000 worth, mainly in denominations of $25 cards, since they are the best deal overall. Takes forever to combine them but I don’t mind doing it. Got to the register and we were told that we could only get $500 worth. They asked us if we were buying them for a business.😆 Nope, just to pay the big bill at Disney. I’m not sure if the limit is $500 per day, per month, or what. I just called them a few minutes ago and asked if we brought cash to buy them with if we could get more than $500 worth and was told no. Doesn’t matter how we buy them…only $500. I forgot to ask what the time limit was. Tried calling back and didn't get an answer.
Went online last night and they have a limit of two of each type of card so we can get more than $500 worth but not the biggest discount. We were able to order 2 three packs of the $25 cards and 2 three packs of the $25 Christmas gift cards (since they were still in stock and were different than the regular cards. So, that was $300 so far. Went on just now to order more, in case that is just a daily thing, and it won’t let me order anymore. It says we can only order two of each “for a time”. Doesn’t say what that time limit is. I do understand that businesses have to protect themselves but this is a bit frustrating. Good thing we started several weeks early to get our gift cards together.
Looking for better deals.👀

I'm not sure it's worth your time, but I had an unrelated gift card issue with Sam's. I opened an online ticket and asked that it be escalated to the gift card team. I was pleasantly surprised with that team's assistance.

They might at least be willing to share their purchase policy. Although, they may not with it being for fraud purposes. Just a thought.

Ive purchased gc from Sam’s before, although I normally spread the purchases out over time. I noticed the purchase limits and was concerned that it might be a per account limit for a certain period of time. But I have been able to buy $2K in gc as long as it was spaced out over a few weeks or so. Not sure on exact timing.

I've never seen a $25 Disney card at Sam's. Is it in store only or are you able to find it online?

I wonder if this has anything to do with that site selling discounted Disney cards. You
know the one people had problems with. I ordered a lot and every one of my invoices
had Sam's Club at the top

I'm a member of BJ's and I had $2,000 to buy Disney gift cards and was told $500 was the limit too. Fortunately, the two years before we went I bought $500 on each year. We are going back in 2024, so I will be buying a $500 one this year. I bought them on their Black Friday week and got more of a discount. We used our for dinners.

When you buy the $25 gift cards you are saving a fraction of a cent instead of buying the $500 gift cards, and then you spend like an hour combining all the cards in order to save 7 cents.

We just bought $500 of Disney gift cards today. It was in the $25 denominations. It cost $479.60. The $500 gift card costs $484.98. For every $500 worth we buy of the $25 gift cards, we save an additional.$5.38. If we bought 10 $500 gift cards, we would pay $4849.80. If we buy $5000 worth of gift cards in denominations of $25, we will pay $4796.00. So, for $5000 worth of cards, if we get the $25 cards, we will save an additional $53.80.
We are retired. We have time on our hands to combine the cards. Worth it to us. ☺️

The biggest pain is not being able to buy more than $500 worth at a time. Luckily, we have several weeks to get the cards. It isn’t convenient, but doable. We live about 15 minutes from Sam’s but it is near to many other places that we go so we will definitely be near there enough times to pick up the amount of cards that we need.

What is the highest discount Sams ever offers on DGCs?

The prices that they have for the different denominations are:

$25- $23.98
$50- $47.98
3-$50 - $144.98
3-$25 - $71.98
$500- $484.98

You can also get e-gift cards but only in denominations of $50 or $500, I think. Same prices as above.

I have never known them to sell them for any additional discount but I normally only look for them before we go so I’m not sure.

The $25 gift cards are only in the store.

Their best deal is $150 for $144.98. You are better off buying from Target
To get them from Target, don’t you have to have their credit card? How much is the discount? If it is worth it, I might would get the credit card and give it a whirl.

We had the same issue when trying to buy them to pay our DVC annul dues, but found that each Sam's handled differently.
One, would not sell us more than $500, even after we told them that we had bought $2000.00 a few months before to buy park tickets. We went to another Sam's club in a more upscale area, and the manager took the time to make a call and he let is buy them but they had to be in separate transactions.

Yes! I just called the Sam’s that is about 30 miles over and they said their limit is $500 for cards like Visa and Mastercard where you have to specify an amount. They said that I could get $1500 of Disney cards since they are preset. I told him what my Sam’s had told me so he had me to hold on while verifying with a manager. If we happen to have to go that way in the next couple of weeks, we will stop by and get part of them there.

We had this same issue at our Sam's the last time we purchased Disney GCs - and we had never had it before. I can't remember what month it was, but we were allowed to go over the limit with manager approval. We shared our surprised with them, as we have done it many times before. I got the impression that it was a new policy and that is why the manager let us.
I have thought about getting the Target Red Card in the past, this might be the kick I needed to look into those details.

I would only buy from Sams if they had a discount of more than 5%. I get 5% off everday at Target.

Does the Target discount link to a debit/checking or credit card? I've always bought from BJs.com online and bought $100 cards for about $96 and paid with my credit card that gives be 5% cash back. I think it may provide slightly more discount, not a huge amount but maybe enough to cover the cost of a cream cheese pretzel at the Lunching Pad. :D

You can do a credit or debit card for the red card.

But, if you're doing Sam's/BJ's discounted cards with a 5% credit card, that's 80% more discount than Target straight. When you're scaling that up for the cost of tickets, a cruise, etc, it's more than just some cream cheese :-)

if you are looking at long term planning then you can sign up for text alerts with target and be notified when they do their once per year 10% discount up to a max of $500 on gift cards. this does NOT stack on stop of the red card discount but it's available to anyone who signs up for the free target circle loyalty program. a person could conceivably sign up for loyalty under their own name, have their spouse do it under theirs and walk away each year with $100 off on $1000 PLUS any rewards an individual credit card offers to purchase them with (since the sale is generally in december many credit cards like the very no frills one i have offer double rewards so in my case it could result in another 6% cash back).
