Ok, folks, I NEED ADVICE!! I have an AP, and am booked at a deluxe savannah view studio at Jambo (3 adults - me, DH, DD22). There aren't any available for my dates for the AP rate, but I can get a 1 BR at Kidani for the same price (also savannah view).

WHAT DO I DO??? I love Jambo, so that would really be my preference, but is the space worth it? Is it really a no-brainer?

Is the Kidani villa a Savanna view? Will that make a difference to you? Also, how much do you depend on in resort dining? Kidani has Sanna, but for Jiko, Myra and Boma you need to walk/bus over to Jambo. The 1 bedroom Kidani villas are amazing. The problem you're going to have is going back to staying in studios after this trip.

Yes, they're both savannah view -that was essential. And the reason that I'm wedded to AKL this time is that we're eating at Sanaa (Lunch with an Animal Specialist), Jiko & Boma! Doing the wine & cheese at Jiko, too. No refillable mug to worry about and DH will be bringing in groceries and such.

I bit the bullet and decided to book the 1 BR (of course, if I'm not too late! Had to do it through a TA and all.).

Anyone have pictures of the pool at Kidani? Couldn't find them on the AKL site.

In my opinion it's a no brainer............... IF you can get the 1br (esp. sav. view) for same price as a studio......................... UMMMMMMM yeah, do it!!! You will be BEYOND amazed and I agree, you'll be hard pressed to ever stay in a studio again. Not to mention you get a FULL kitchen, KING size bed in the master, a washer/dryer IN the room, you also get that EXTRA bathroom, there is NO comparison - I'd do it in a heartbeat.

BUT, like the op said, there is NO counter service restaurant, but, you CAN walk over if you need too - or take the bus, or they do have a golf cart that runs back and forth during the day. I say do it and do it quick, you won't regret it!!

Deal went live at 7 AM and that thread has been growing at an exponential rate all AM. The traffic in that thread is creaming the boards.

Free Dining is just annoying. Mainly because of its impact on the menus of restaurants and the fact that it makes ADRs nearly impossible.

I'm confused. If you HAVE a studio room already, why do you need a reservation?

I had the studio with a AAA discount. I was checking the AP discount - no studio availability (which would have saved me some money), but I can upgrade to 1 BR for the same price. Just asking whether I should upgrade my current reservation, that's all. Now I'm just waiting for confirmation from my TA that I got it!

My first DVC stay was in a 1br, I will only stay in a studio for short stays in CA. If I'm going all the way to Florida, I want my jacuzzi tub.

I really really really want to try it - and its not DH's thing at all. (not into buffets or spices!) so this is my golden opportunity. DD is very easy going - loves all kiddie food and a big hummus fan! I was all ready to pay before todays specials - but now with free-esque (room price went up a smidge) dining - for some reason now its harder for me to be cool with paying that much.
I just keep telling myself - this may be my only time to try it so go for it!!

Go for Boma! My DH has never been a big fan of spices or food that was unfamiliar, but he LOVES Boma (both for breakfast and for dinner!).

I got a text from Laura (RachelTori) letting me know that she and her family met up with our other Laura (MICKEY'S DREAMERS)and her husband Marco at AKL spent a few hours with them. Everyone seems to have hit it off very well!
