Happy Father's Day!! We went to the zoo today and our zoo now has an African theme area complete with a sign that says JAMBO. It is very Disney like

You should definitely do it since you'll be in the area! Just make sure you have your DVC card with you -- you need that to get in. It used to be at 4pm (for about an hour) - but I think it's earlier now (maybe 2?).

They serve lemonade and popcorn or cracker jacks. It's a game show format (Jeopardy) with DVC prizes! Everyone gets a gift as they leave (usually a DVC ball cap).

It's worth doing at least once!

Thanks I believe it is 2pm now too. I call MemberServices a few months ago and will double check before we leave.

You are planning to book through Disney Travel (not through DVC on points)? Either way you shouldn't have any trouble. (I just wouldn't wait much longer than January to book it!)

You should still be fine for a 2-br in Kidani. Jambo House (especially the Value rooms) would be tougher to come by, but Kidani usually has good availability -- except several high-demand weeks, but June isn't in that category!

Two bronze stars, meritorious service, Army commendation, and southwest Asia service. Combat jump wings and air assault wings.

He is my hero.

He hates to wear them but I make him do it, I am proud of him but he says it was his job and nothing more.

Good morning I am new to this board but had a question. We are planning a trip for June 2012 and are wanting to book a 2 bedroom standard view hopefully at Kidani. I won't be able to book anything until January (tax time vacation!!). Do you "experts" think that will happen for us or will it be too late? Thanks

Probably...but you might be cutting it close.

At the 7 month mark, all the other DVC owners (whose home resort is NOT the Animal Kingdom Villas) get a crack at AKV. June isn't CRAZY busy, but it does get busy because schools are usually out in early-mid June, and the hottest of the hot summer weather hasn't hit yet.

That being said, that time frame is one of the more "expensive" time frames for point use, so it's not usually super high demand.

Much later than mid January and you MAY (DVC availability is never 100% predictable) run into problems with your dates/room type. Much later than mid-February and you PROBABLY will run into problems with your dates/room type. If you're willing to pay a bit more, and take Savanna view, instead, you'll probably be 100% fine for that time frame (June), so long as you book before 90 days out.

It boils down to this: There are fewer standard view rooms and they're "cheaper" during an "expensive" time frame. Looking at June 2010 and June 2011, it doesn't look like there are reports of zero availability...but I'm not sure WHY there were no reports (Plenty of availability vs just not having anyone report). I don't think you'll have any problem getting a 2BR...there just may (or may not) be issues with specific category being more "in demand" during that time frame.
