Hi Everyone!
I haven''t posted much, but I look all of the time:) We booked a CL room at AKL dec 1-8th. It'll be me, husband and daughter. Our boys don't want to come because of missing school??? (They are good boys and both get all A's.) They are staying at grandma's. I was wondering, we are thinking of booking one of the safari's available to AKL guests. Which one is better? Our daughter is 10 & we are celebrating our anniversary.

What a great resort to pick and congrats on your trip... I added you to the roll call.

We went on the sunrise safari, you can see pictures in my trip report below, it was amazing...

Yum!

Well... to the brownies anyway. Not much of a beer person, unless it's the girly beers. :rotfl:

I am sitting in a hotel room in Chicago, so I am drinking the free beer the offer in the lounge (miller Lite) and the free brownies... So really it is all good with me...:rotfl:

Final - Magical Memory
We left to drive home after the safari and realized my DS had forgotten his special bear at AKL. We all thought of "Lotso" from Toy Story 3. Anyway, we called AKL, we could no longer talk to Concierge since we had already checked out, she transfered us to Housekeeping. Housekeeping looked in her logs and Lost and Found and did not see anything about it. She took my room number, name, description of the bear and my cell phone number. She said someone would call back in the next day or two (this was Sunday night). So by tuesday, we hadn't heard from her nor anyone at AKL, so we thought he was "Lotso". Wednesday comes and we get a overnight fedex package from AKL. It's our bear! We were definitely glad to have him home. It was nice that there was no lag of waiting for them to call me back, giving her my address ... They just sent it asap. I know this must happen alot, but really, it was special to us that they did this.

Anyway, thanks for everyone on this thread's help on planning our stay at AKL. I hope this review helps someone.

This is such a sweet story...made me tear up!

Just to say it again, you all have been wonderful and suggested some wonderful places.

Next week I will be Monterey, CA does anyone have any suggestions for there?

I fly in and out of San Jose but will be at Monterey all week.

I am assuming you will have a car. The only place I can reccomend is in Pacific Grove (close to Monterey), but I just checked their website and evidently they were voted "Best In Monterey County" this year. It is an organic, sustainable type restaurant. My parents have enjoyed several meals there (they live in NorCal) and they took me there once a few years back. I remember we definitely enjoyed it.

Here is a link to the website.

As far as Monterey goes, there are plenty of restaurants on Cannery Row, and they basically charge you for the view. They are not bad places to eat, but from what I've heard nothing to write home about.

Do you need any San Jose reccomendations? Will you be driving over Highway 17 or taking the 101 to the 156? I grew up outside San Jose and when we cut school we went to Santa Cruz. :rolleyes1

Yes I have a car and I have not decided which route to take. 17 or 101 would be fine with me. Do you have a preference, I will arrive early morning, and return after 5 pm on Thursday.:scared1:

Good afternoon, jamborini's!:goodvibes

You're all not going to believe what I did today:laughing: I must be out of my freaking mind:rotfl2: DVC has done this to me! Blame it:laughing:
Flying to WDW for less than 48 hrs next month to get a fix...Staying at a deluxe standard view studio @ Kidani.....May go to Epcot, if too hot, we'll just relax @ the resort, maybe attempt the monorail drink-a-thon again;)
We really shouldn't be doing this, so why do we keep doing it? LOL

I'm not sure I've ever taken the 101/156 because from where I grew up that route just didn't make sense. The 17 was a very dangerous road when I was in High School, but they have added barriers and things to prevent cars from crossing the dividers. It's a gorgeous ride and takes you through Santa Cruz which is a fabulous town.

The Big Dipper is such a cool coaster! It's one of those that's scary because it's so old and rickety! :lmao:
