:lmao: I'm sorry, but that's probably the one of the biggest misconceptions I've read yet on DVC.

Of course it isn't as plush as a normal room... I mean, how soft and fluffy do you like your kitchen(ette), table and chairs?:rotfl:

The studios have one queen bed and a pull out couch. If it's just two people, this gives you a lot more functional room than a normal room. If it's a family you can upgrade to the 1br units with a full kitchen, king bed, jacuzzi, walk in shower, pull out couch and sleeper chair in the LR.... oh, and don't forget the second bathroom Kidani offers.... you get the pic. Yeah, I can see how DVC is roughing it.. hehe
This is why i ask questions. I clearly have no idea what I'm talking about!

Today is a pretty good day! He sat at his computer for a while and listened to his music and also did his PT and OT exercises without being yelled at... I mean, reminded. ;) He is in a good mood so that is also very nice! Thanks for asking, Miss Wendy!

Elin, I'm so glad to hear that Bob is doing so well!:goodvibes

DH and I are going to order the free DVC DVD. Going to see if it'd be worth it, since we only go once a year...

We aboslutely love our DVC, if you understand the points system, it makes it worth it even if you only go every three years!

We love :lovestruc being DVC. I know it is not perfect for everyone but it "works" for us.

::yes::

I read somewhere the rooms aren't as 'plush' as the normal AKL ones? How do you like them?

I've stayed in regular rooms and at Kidani. I will have to admit that the two bedroom suite they put us in was pretty darned plush, but we paid dearly for that room. And thinking back I don't think it was anything that much better than our lovely two bedroom villa at Kidani. And DVC rooms larger than a studio have full kitchens! :thumbsup2

Us too - in fact, we ADDED ON TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yee Ha --- it's still at the lodge, but, we have more pts. now, YAY

I think the rooms are much nicer in the villa's. ESP. Kidani - I    :cloud9: Kidani - DVC is the BEST thing we've ever done, we took 3 trips last year, our next trip is in Oct. and I'm booked for May already. :rolleyes1 LOL

Congratulations! I know all about addonitis, had a serious bout with it back in January. I have more points than necessary now! :lmao: I have a trip in October and a trip in May booked as well! I don't own at AKV, but I hope that I can switch my May trip there at 7 months!

Ha. Ok. I think ill have to check out the DVC forums !! I'm curious how much money we would save... Not having kids. gotta for sure look into it!!

There are lots of nice and helpful people over there. How much you save will depend on the type of accomodations that you normally book. If you stay at values, there is not a tremendous amount of overall savings. But if you stay at Deluxes, you could see a return on your investment potentially 4-5 trips. The good thing about DVC is that room rates will continue to go up, but the point charts will always remain the same :thumbsup2 (except for redistribution).

You don't even have to have a family to upgrade to the one 1br unit!

Thanks for all the input! So far.. I don't get the points system. Hello, DVD....

Elin, do I remember you going to Cowgirl Creamery here in DC last year before F&WF?

I still have not been but am right by it all the time!

I have not been, but actually it came up in a discussion when we were out to dinner last Friday night. sounds like a place i would LOVE to go. Cheese is one of my favorite foods!!! :thumbsup2

I haven't posted a photo of Bob in a while, so since you are all asking I am going to. He has a new task he is working on. Not bad for a guy who 6 months ago was not supposed to survive the week! :teeth: (please note the skinny legs.... hard to believe I have put 14 pounds on him since the middle of June!)

and just so we stay on topic: the last time we were at AKL he wore this outfit and his tummy stuck out of the shirt a bit. :rotfl:

Thanks for all the input! So far.. I don't get the points system. Hello, DVD....

I doubt the DVD will give you much useful information on the fine details of point usage. The basics are, a studio may cost between 9-27 (don't quote me there could be studios requiring more) points per night depending on season, view and night of the week. To figure out how many points you might need decide how long you think you might want to stay each year and what time of year you are most likely to travel.

With that information look at the point charts online. See how many points it will require for the length of your anticipated stay. You'll find a week in late January takes far less points than Easter Break or Thanksgiving. Once you have an idea how many points you need for the desired type of unit you'd like to stay in multiply it by two! :lmao: Ask anyone here, it will save you the hassle of adding on when you get hooked or decide that you just can't go back to a studio! :rotfl2:

Maybe it was TDC Nada that posted about it. I was thinking of stopping there and bring it and some wine down for F&WF.

I think David and I would really love it too.

I think it was Catherine, yes! She took some cheese on the plane on one of her trips to WDW. My cheese choices would very probably stink up the plane!

However, I have heard if you pack them, unopened, in a container with rock-solid frozen ice packs you will be allowed to take them through security. I also have heard that you can pack them in ice before you leave home, thrown the ice away just before you enter security, and then get ice from a shop after security so you can repack them for safekeeping. I say, go for it, Brandi!

Good morning Jamborinis and Kidanites! :sunny:

We will be on our way in about 6 hours. Can you believe JD had to (make that wanted to!) go to work this morning?!!

Elin, thanks for sharing the picture of Bob. It is so good to see the progress he has made. WTG Bob!! :cheer2:

We will be at The Ditch tomorrow and will raise our Margaritas to you both!! Can't wait to see y'all in October!! :yay:

If Tori allows me on her laptop, I might peek in to say "Hey!" but otherwise, I'll be back here after we get home!

I told my daughter that I would pay for any vacations she wants to take with us; otherwise she's on her own. So far, so good - she's paid for all her Spring Break trips herself, and at least we still get to vacation with her! :rotfl:
