Any thoughts on which rooms are best for two adults, three children? Wonder if its worth the extra money to book a larger room, or are two adjoining rooms better (I believe this would cost less) Thanks for sharing!!

People seem to enjoy adjoining rooms more because you get the extra space, and the extra BATHROOM! I have never had to do this, but there have been numerous threads in the past on this subject....

We had a category 4 in April with our crew of five. I never thought to check into adjoining cabins. But it is cheaper. There are 7 of us going in November and it was almost cheaper for the 7 of us in adjoining cabins than 5 of us in a cat 4. I am told you can keep them open all the time if you want. The category 4's are nice size though. Tough to get to the verandah when the last bed is pulled out though. Made getting out on it early before everyone woke up pretty hard. We have since upgraded to category 5 connecting when the FL resident rates came out and we even got over $1000 back.

Normally yes, you can get the money back. The exceptions I have heard to this is if you book with a discount broker or something like that. We booked thru a travel agent, he checked rates for me constantly. I actually heard it first though on this board and checked and low and behold. I emailed him on a Sunday night and he told me that it would only be for my mom's cabin because her and my step-dad are FL residents and my daughter who is rooming with them. That was fine with me, since we were expecting about $1200-$1300 back, we had already paid in full. We had connecting category 10's. He called me at 9am on Monday morning and luckily I had forgotten my cell phone when I ran my daughter to school or I would have ran off the road. He said he put mom in my room and my husband in my stepdad's room, because they only require 1 FL resident per room to get the discount for the whole room. That was fine because we are keeping the doors open and having a suite like room. He told me we were getting $3840 credited back to our cards!!!! My mom was estatic. We upgraded to verandah category 5's but still got $1070 back and it hit the credit cards very quickly. So we are staying in category 5's for the prices of 11's or 12's on a holiday week! I check www.allseastravel.com to see if my rates have changed then call my travel agent, not them. They had discounts for non FL residents too but those were much better. So keep checking, but only a few TA's will check for you, so check and let them know if it goes down. Disney will give you/them the new price.

We are a family of 5 and have taken 2 staterooms on both our cruises. The first time we had connecting cabins and last time it was just 2 rooms next to each other. Connecting was nice because of the split bathrooms but it worked just as well last time without. We have no problems with 2 rooms and given that we have the cost of flights from the UK to factor in, it was the most economical option for us.

double the bathrooms and extra storage...for us, it's a 'short putt'. We book early and get two SPR - one for mama and i...other for our 3 dd's. for the sailing we went on...this was less than a family stateroom. Deck 5 forward was an ideal location.

good luck...k

We go with the veranda and a cat 11 across the hall. Lots less cash and twice the space and baths.

On our last 3 cruises, we had my husband and I in a category 6 and our three kids right across the hallway in a category 11. This works out great for us and ends up being cheaper than a category 4. We love the extra space and the extra bathroom. I have the same situation booked for cruise #4 in January.

We had adjoining category 9 outside cabins. Worked great. Especially if you have little ones that still nap. Our kids are 8-8-6-3, and the 3 year old could nap in one room while still having noise in the other. And the 2 bathrooms are wonderful. No fighting over the tvs for late night (there are 2), 2 refrigerators/coolers which helped. And cheaper.

A lot depends on the ages of your kids. We have to have connecting cabins because our kids are small (11,7,5,4) If they were older (or I should say WHEN they are older) we will do the outside cabin with inside across the hall. As stated above, with the connecting you can keep the doors open between the all the time (the cabin steward will do this if you ask). I'd go with two cabins vs. one any day.
