Don't know if I am doing this right but I am going to try:
#1: About when do you 'think' you will be arriving on the Wonder on Sunday?
We are coming by car. Staying with parents at Fort Myers and they are driving us over. Hope to be there around 10 am to get ready for boarding.
Great -- maybe we'll see you if you get there at the same time. Several of us will be taking 10 a.m. shuttles from our hotels...
#2: What dinner seating did you wind up getting?
We have early seating. Our 3 year old couldn't wait til later to eat. Could have fed him early I guess but with this being our first cruise didn't know which to do.
They usually give the early seatings to families with little ones -- if you are planning on having them eat with you each night, early is definitely preferred...
#3: Do you enjoy any of the late-night music shows (guy who plays James Taylor, etc...)
Not for sure what you mean but these. If you mean for adults at the clubs, we are hopeing to have our 3 year old stay flounders a couple of nights so we could have some time out just me and the wife.
Yeah, there are a couple of live musicians that play some of the lounges in the evenings -- several good shows, it looked like. They do covers - seeming to kind of feature one artist or type of music... We're looking forward to it -- I think...
#4: Once you get yourself situated (luggage/reservations/orientation), how do you plan to spend the first day? (swimming, eating, reading, sleeping, exercising, etc...)
Hope to do some swimming. Can't decide if going to go to lunch buffet or just grab pizza or a burger and go to the pool. Thoughts from anyone who has crusied before? this is our first.
I would think - especially with 3 kids, I would be inclined to go for either the lunch buffet or get food from the pizza/burger/hot dog places. Just know that I tend to pick the line of least resistance on vacations -- so take that into consideration when I state my thoughts...
There are several different spots on that deck that offer counter service (all close together) -- and it's all really, really good. I was kind of shocked at the quality last year -- really... They have brats and all kinds of stuff...
Make sure you guys have your swimsuits on when you get to the ship -- makes it easier to do the pool thing. You can have them on under your clothes...
My guys will be sliding from the moment we get there -- so I'm pretty sure that we'll be eating near the pool.
Keep in mind that you can get the buffet food to-go....so you can check out the buffet and bring out a tray of buffet food to your spot by the pool. They will have peel 'n eat shrimp and stuff like that at the buffet. That allows you to have the best of both...
#5: Do you plan to attend the Goofy Sail-Away Party - after the boat drill? That might be an option if we can all plan on a specific part of the deck. It's a fun party, and it would be a great way to break the ice... It all takes place on Deck 9, I believe -- lots of music, etc...and most of us would be there anyway (which might be rare with a group this size...)
yes we absolutlety do. If people want to try and meet up somewhere during or before this that is fine with me. Since we have never been need someone else to recommend a time and location.
Well - the boat drill will be at 4:00 and the Sail-Away party starts at 4:15. I plan to send DH with everyone's life vests while I shuttle the guys up to the party deck. We can't save seats for whole parties, but if a good bit of us find each other, we can all kind of mill around the same area... It's a party, so there will be more dancing and moving around than sitting...
I'm trying to think of a good place for us to meet. I will take a look at pictures of that deck. We had a great spot last time - just totally happened upon it - to be honest... Don't forget your cameras!!
#6: What activities/amenities are you most looking forward to on this cruise??
Don't really know for sure. Hope to do a little bit of everything. Plan to try and make the evening shows. Really want to see Race to Witch Mountan as well and Bolt 3D. Otherwise just going to try and play it by ear. We do have a couples massage scheduled for the full day at sea.
If you are planning to do the movies -- you might want to consider bringing your own snacks with you. You can get all sorts of candy before you get on the ship and bring it into the theater. If you buy it there, you'll be paying CRAZY prices -- I read someone's post about a bag of m&m's being $9.00!!!
#7: Do you expect your kids to spend time in the 'Kids Clubs'? (Are you prepared to only see them at bedtime, lol....some kids would rather stay there all day long, no kidding, lol...) ;-)
Not for sure. We have a 9 and 7 year old. If they were in the same group, I'm sure they would love to stay and play together. Because they aren't in the same groups not for sure if they will love it or want to spend more time swimming and at movies with us.
#8: Are you going Nassau? What are you planning to do in the Bahamas? If not, what are you planning to do on the ship?
We are staying on the ship. Going to get ourself acquainted. Spend some time at the pool and just see what activities excite the kids the most.
Good attitude -- just try to remain fluid and see what happens. Just because mine loved it last year -- this could be totally different. Either way, I'll have an easier time becaue DH is way more help with the boys. Grammy is wonderful, but she's just not physically up to keeping up with 2 active pre-schoolers....
#9: Are you going to
Castaway Cay? What do you plan to do on the island? If not, what are you onboard plans?
As of now we are going to CC. Going to get some beach time, maybe go snorkeling with the older two kids. Plan on having lunch at the BBQ. Depending on what the kids want to do will probably determine what we do and how long we stay.
Sounds perfect -- there are so many options -- and just as long as you know what those options are....you're way ahead of most passengers. It's amazing how many people go on these cruises (or trips to WDW) and don't do the first bit of research.
I mean, for me, not only is this some of the most fun -- to get to talk about and think about a vacation for weeks/months before the actual date....but we will get so much more out of our trip because we knew what we were doing. The ones that just wander around and sort of hunt and peck their way through it -- that's just throwing your money away...
Just knowing that you can get Mickey Premium Bars from Room Service....or that there's a quiet deck most people don't visit....or that the door hanger storage is one of the best things you can pack....that's such a big part of my enjoyment.....all of those little details!!
#10: Is there anything else you would like to add? Do you think Tara Laine is nosy/nuts for putting out this post, lol...? (maybe you shouldn't answer that one, lol)
Not at all. I think someone just has the Disney spirit in their blood.
awwwwwww, glad you appreciate the pixie dust...
Has everyone got a copy of previous Navigators?? Brockster, I can send you a PDF of the set I downloaded (so you can send it out with the next FE mailing) -- it's great to be able to print and see the kinds of things you might want to do. Certainly, things will change between now and then, but a lot will be exactly the same... Let me know if you all want to have a copy...
Yes I copied the one from the Feb. 22, 2009 cruise. Really helped to see how things were scheduled and get me used to the Navigator.
Hope this came out ok. If we don't end up meeting at the meet and great and you are on deck 8 just stop by and say hello. Our door will be decorated with several pictures and will have the Rapp's on it and we will have a Pirates of the Carribean FE.
can't wait to get on the boat.
