Sailing the Wonder 3/22/09 Who's with us?

My flight comes in at 1:10. By the time we cross the airport and wait for the ME to port I am anticipating a arrival on the ship around 3.
When we go to WDW with that arrival time we never get to the hotel until after 3.
I am open to meeting anytime!

tinkmom - I thought for some reason that when DCL books the flights, they try for the best possible times. If you cannot be there before 3pm, I would like for us to wait and meet after that so you can participate too ! ;) What time does your flight get in at MCO?

smatterchu - You live in Clermont? We are in Jacksonville. Nice to see another Floridian. :thumbsup2 We don't have any children travelling with us - just the two of us but I look forward to meeting up!

Brockster - I hear you on the germs. :scared1: We have been bringing our own snorkle gear everywhere we go for a few years now. I know that they clean the mouthpiece but I really question how well it is cleaned, especially in some countries where eveything is not as regulated as it is here in the US. There are too many ways of getting ill now so I won't take the chance since it is something that I can easily control. The gear takes up no room in the suitcase....(and the live crabs would be a perfect gift in the FE - I can see that now..:lmao: )

My hubby and daugher are doing the later dolphin encounter I think at 12:45. I didn't want them to loose their breakfast! I am going to buy my own snorkel too! Got my list for Target lol! I also picked up some dramamine for me and some benedryl just in case! ...When my dd is in Flounders I was thinking of going on Nassau myself to do a bit of eating and maybe go see Atlantis...

My daughter has always wanted to swim with the dolphins. So we are going to do the encounter in Nassau. On CC we are just going to veg out and snorkle in the morning. I bought our own snorkle gear today at Target. Not that I'm a germ-a-phobe, but my cousin got ill a couple of years ago on a DCL due to the mouthpiece. Ended up in the hospital. And it was his honeymoon!

Opinions: Do you think 1 gift/cabin per day? Or just one surprise sometime during the cruise? I'd like to make ours something from our area, but not seeing anything that stands out! Can't bring live crabs,y'know!?

28 more days!! :sail:

Luv2Travel - Do you know your cabin numbers? I think we are in 7624 or 7623 - can't remember right now.

Our cabins are 7588, 7590, 7592, 7594, 7596, and 7598, so you'll be right down the hall from us! :cool1: That ought to be easy enough - 7 cabins on the same deck, same hall. :goodvibes :dance3:

Our little group had a meeting at lunch today about the cruise and they're all excited about the FEs. pirate: :woohoo:

Luv2Travel - I think we are in the same area of the ship then. We will definitely have to meet up. Holy Smoke - You have a large group with you !!!! You all will have a great time. We are trying to plan some things that we want to do. I thought about the dolphin encounter but we did the Dolphin Package at Discovery Cove twice already - I don't think that one can be beat so we will have to choose something else. Atlantis sounds interesting.
On Castaway, we were thinking about just walking around the island as much as we can, rather doing a structured excursion there.

Ok, the following have indicated they want to particate in the FE Exchange:

Brockster (3 cabins)
luv2travel (6 cabins)
smatterch (1 cabin)
tinkmom2 (1 cabin) provided email

PM me your email and cabin #s and names so I can send you the listing.

Otherwise, we will be arranging a "Meet & Greet" during the Sail Away near the pool. Details to be nailed down shortly!

26 days, but who is counting!! :woohoo:

3 of the families have never cruised before, so I'm really looking forward to sharing their first adventure on a Disney Cruise! :goodvibes

We're taking it easy at Nassau. We LOVE to go to Atlantis and I highly recommend it, but we were afraid that our Southern blood might not like the water temps in March (it has to be like bath water for me ;) ). We're just going to stay on the ship for a while and then most of the group is going on the Segway Tour in the afternoon.

Our teens (7 of them) are going on the Teen Wild Side excursion at Castaway Cay, but the rest of us will just take it easy, maybe do a bike ride (I've yet to do that).

Can't believe it's getting so close!!!! Yes, I've already started packing some things! :dance3:

Hope everyone has a great week!

Goodness, you don't check the boards for a few days and there are 5 pages (LOL). Yes, I will be participating the the FE's too! I finished mine a couple of weeks ago...it was interesting (not a sewer, so I did it with the "Mighty Mend It" that Billy Mays hocks for "As Seen on TV" and it worked pretty well). Our cabin # is 7563. It is my DH and I. We do not have any kids yet. So excited.

Okay...so on the FE's, are we doing one surprise a day or per cruise or what? I am up for whatever...I've already gotten a few little things to put in them. If I might make a suggestion though (I understand the one surprise per cabin, but what if there is more than one child per cabin? I would think that one surprise per kid would be cool...cause if there is only one surprise when they get to their extender then one or more may be disappointed...like with ours (my DH and I) there is just the 2 of us, so one surprise is way cool, but I just thought with rooms with kids we may want to think about it) (...that's just my opinion, I'll do whatever the group wants to do of course).

I'd like to meet up with everyone too. I see several people are on the 7th level...that is really cool!!

I'll do a magnet with my DIS signature on it too if that's what everyone is doing. I've already made a lot of magnets, so I'll just add this one (how are you going to do it? just DIS and your ID, or what...).

I think I must have missed some things, as I was trying to read everything and respond, so if anyone needs anything, you can add me as a friend and PM me, or just shoot me a message here.

Can't wait for our "Wonder"-ful cruise!!

Mandy, I think that's a great idea to take the number of kiddos into consideration with each cabin... That's very thoughtful of you. I am also willing to whatever, but I think you make a good point...

Looking forward to meeting you, too! The boys will in the kids club most of the week (they love it), so we'll be kidless much of the time, ourselves... :cloud9:

Hey All!
Our luggage tags came today from DCL! That means the cruise is getting really close! I already started to pack! I finished up my door magnets today and am awaiting my fish extender from Ebay hopefully next week. My hubby and I are still deciding on excursions. We have the Nassau Dolphin Encounter and the couples massage but now are undecided on the glass bottom boat tour. I figure since we are going back in the fall we can do that then. I mainly want to RELAX! If you see a girl on castaway in a hammoch with a drink that may be me lol! .. Still have to make it to Michael's to get some more extender gifts!

Yep, we all got our special delivery from UPS yesterday with our tags and, lol, packing checklist. Don't they know we all have been packing for weeks!!?

Have a 'wonder'ful day!:yay:

OH no...We didn't get our luggage tags yesterday...I hope they come today...you guys are getting me so excited!! That will make it seem like it's really happening....can't wait!! I have to pick up a few more fish extender surpirses too. Did we decide yet if it's one per cabin per day or per cruise and whether it is going to be one per child or per cabin? No hurry, I just hadn't read anything for sure and was just checking.

Have a wonderful day guys and we'll see you SOON!!

It's fine with me either way. I have picked up a whole bunch of things for each cabin. If we don't do it every day, I'll probably put little gift-sacks together and maybe hand out the first night and/or the day at sea (so we don't risk losing items while folks are away from their cabin all day long...)

I definitely think - depending on the item, I would do one per child - but it really depends on what it is, too...if that makes sense.... doubled...

Anyone else have any thoughts? We wanna vote or what?

I agree with this . . . I have some small things that I'll be giving each person, but then I have something that would only be one per family (just because you wouldn't need more than one). :thumbsup2

Something I meant to ask...

Is anyone coming into Cape Canaveral/Melbourne on Saturday, March 21? We are staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise - just wondered if anyone else was getting in early...

I want to be over there as soon as possible -- it's like getting an extra day of cruising if you can get there before lunchtime...

Our crew will be in Port Canaveral Saturday evening - we're going to have dinner and watch the Magic sail out. :sail: We're staying at the Residence Inn. I'm not sure what time we'll get to the port though - we'll be going to church that Sunday morning and may not get to the port until 11:30 or so. That'll be the latest we've ever gotten to the port before. I'm hoping the lines won't be horrible by then. :scared:

Yeah Residence Inn! We will also be staying there on Saturday night (after an afternoon tour of the Kennedy Space Ctr). Perhaps we will meet you at the pool that evening, luv2travel!

The Brocksters

we are in for the fish extenders. We will be in cabin 8540. Group of 5:

DH 36 yo, DW 36 yo, DS 9 yo, DS 7 yo, DS 3 yo.

Has a time and place been set for a meet and great?

That sounds like a plan! :dance3:

Hi,
I am making a homemade gift and am afraid I may not have enough! Can you tell me if it is one family in each cabin or the same family spread out in your cabins? My big gift I want to do one per family but have some smaller FE gifts too! Thanks!
Christine

I can't speak for everyone, but I am usually thinking a Cabin = Family. If every cabin is participating in this exchange, then I will consider each cabin a separate group for this purpose. Within that cabin, I plan to take into account whether there are multiple children or different ages/genders... It won't have too much effect, but I can definitely stick two little 'boy' items when there are two boys in a cabin...small price to pay to keep the peace...

If I were buying/making a bigger item, I would figure one per cabin. I want with little stuff so I could be flexible....oh, and because I'm not crafty, lol... :worship:
