My daughter's birthday is September 11th...not exactly the best birth date
I have planned a late August trip for her and her best friend...as her birthday present....
this will be her sweet 16 present from me, and I want it to be extra special....

I would go in September, over the 11th but thats too close to the start of school...they start the around the 3rd...plus with it being her junior year...I don't want create problems early in the year...

So my question is....would it be wrong to say its my daughters birthday on the room request? I'm not expecting a ton of things, but I thought this might give me the advantage on a view request....and possibly and extra treat for the girls....

If anyone has done this...or something like this...could you just give me some info...at least so I feel better about doing this...

How about telling them that "You are going to be celebrating your daughter's birthday"? That would not be lying......

I personally don't see what the big deal is...I think people are a little too sensitive about the "lying" deal. (I'm sure I'll hear it about that!) We have went twice the week of and the week prior to my dd birthday and both times told them it was her birthday and at each and every resturant, each and every day of the trip we did the same and had one week long celebration. I certainly don't think it is lying, I think things get carried too far with that. Enjoy the trip and celebrate each day as if it was her birthday. I'm sure it will be a 16th she will remember. At least that is what I would do.

My DS Birthday is the day before we leave for all the magic and I plan on leting people know it is his Birthday because it IS his Birthday present and the more people sharing in it the merrier! Mimimom

I do not see anything wrong with you letting them know that you are there to celebrate her Birthday. Many people celebrate a birthday early and many celebrate it after the fact. When you think about it, how many people really celebrate their birthdays on the exact date. Let's say your birthday falls on a Wednesday, you might do something small on that day but many of us hold our big celebration off until the weekend. That is when we throw the big party or go away for the weekend. I rambled on enough LOL Enjoy your trip and your daughters Birthday.

We just got back from the Poly and at check in I asked about having balloons sent to the room and how much it would cost. The CM asked me "Is someone celebrating a birthday?". I said no - I just wanted to make things a little more special for the kids. She took down all their names ages and favorite characters and she had balloons and personalized character pictures sent ot the room. It was great and she said it was something they like to do. The kids were so excited and could not believe their favorite character wrote them a special note. You don't have to worry about liying - just tell them the truth.

to stop at Guest relations in the parks and get a birthday pin to wear!!! We did and it was fun to have people wish us happy birthday.

Also, you may want to have a shirt made for her with a special saying:

Sweet 16 and never been kissed by Mickey!!! or something whimsical and fun.

How many families do you think have at least one persone within a month (3 month window) of either a birthday, anniversary, retirement, proposal etc?

Disney may do something to help make your trip special but some people don't understand that many guests are in the same category they are.

I certainly wouldn't hesitate to say that you are there to celebrate a birthday.

I would also plan on making things special on your own, too.

I've read a couple of posts recently where people were pretty sad when nothing happened.

It's hard to count on anything but I truly hope something special is done for you.

What a wonderful BD present! My daughter, too, was born on 9/11 and we often celebrate on a different date, maybe due to the NYC tragedy, but also just because it's convenient. This year's November trip is a week after my brother's BD and we are all going there for his celebration. We waited a week to enjoy the value rates! I know we're certainly going to tell everyone it's his BD and celebrate the whole time. The Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue at FW had him get up and dance the last time we went ... everyone helps you celebrate! When you go into a shop and they see a BD badge, all the CMs will sign a card for the BD person. Have fun and tell your daughter that it's first and foremost HER birthday. BTW - my daughter is older and still has not been kissed by Mickey

Of course there is nothing wrong with telling them you are celebrating your daughter's birthday. My DS birthday is actually 3 days before we leave for WDW and my DD birthday is 12 days after we return (Her birthday is Christmas Eve and she says she always feels a little cheated because everyone is celebrating Christmas). We plan on celebrating DS on our first day at the parks with breakfast at Cape May Bufffet and DD on the last day of our vacation at the Crystal Palace because she loves Winnie the Pooh.

Just have a great time and enjoy her birthday celebration.

If you want to be sure some special things are done, you can arrange them yourself.

DS 12th birthday is during our next trip. When I made PS for LTT, I told them we were celebrating his birthday. I also ordered a birthday cake. This way I KNOW his birthday dinner will be extra special. (We're also doing MNSSHP that night)

I also have it noted on our resort reservation. When we get closer to the date of the trip, I'm going to order a birthday basket and ballons for the room. I may do a birthday cruise as well.

If any of the CMs do anything else fine, if not fine. As long as I get the things I pay for I'll be happy.

This trip is a surprise for DS.

We are staying at the Beach Club Conceirge form Nov 9th to the 16th. We changed our original dates because our schools will have a break from Nov 5th to the 11th. My DS who will be nine has his actually birthday during our original dates (everyone with me I know it's confusing). Since we had planned many surprises (and he didn't know about any of them) I felt disappointed that he would not actually be having his real BD during our new Nov dates( we are taking 6 days here his bd is Nov 3rd). When I told our planner this she said no problem let's celebrate. I said is it tacky to do that she said no just let me know what you want to do. After all you are celebrating her sweet sixteen I really don't think disney cares what day her actual birthday is just that she's spending her birthday present with them. Make sure when you make your PS that you tell them your celebrating you DD sweet 16. We are taking our DS on the birthday cruise.

We're planning on celebrating DD#1's 4th Birthday while we're down there, it'll be 2 weeks early but we're gonna do it. We want her to feel special because we're having a big family party for her sister's 1st birthday and a very small one for hers. Thier Birthdays are only 8 days apart.

Our last trip was a week after DW's Birthday and 2 weeks before DD's birthday.

The first few days we celebrated Mom's Birthday, and the last few days we celebrated our daughter's birthday!

A waiter at Narcoossee's even told our daughter that "Mickey heard that your birthday was coming up and sent us this special dessert..." Boy did that get a smile!

You are celebrating a close birthday so I see no problem with just saying that. I have a good one. When we checked into the Poly in May my whole party was wished a Happy Birthday as we had had birthdays within the two months of the trip. We did not ever mention this at booking or anything as we were NOT celebrating. As far as I was concerned that would have been a bit much to be celebrating 2 months later! Anyway the GM of the Poly even sent up balloons, cake, candles, party hats, and birthday cards for us as soon as we got settled in our room. We were certainly surprised. I kept telling the CM that it wasn't our birthdays and she said that since they missed our birthdays they at least wanted to do something special! So who knows what special stuff you get for actually telling them you are celebrating! LOL!

We will be staying at the YC...so I'm hopping...not expecting we'll receive a little treat....
we can pick up a little cake for $12 if all else fails...and no hard feelings will be expressed!
Thank you for your suggestions on PS...I have yet to decide what to do...My DD really wants to do Chef Mickey's...(ok come on..shes going to be 16... ...lol...) so we might do the character breakfast there....

I'm thinking about possibly a night out at PI for her "real" birthday celebration....we've yet to venture there....

Your DD is lucky to have a parent who wants to make her Sweet Sixteen special.

PI is a nice thought for your DD and her friend. DisneyQuest is also very cool for folks of all ages, but especially for teens. Another suggestion, Islands of Adventure has more typical thrill rides that teens like. They may like a day there as well.

My birthday is 9/11 too. My family and I were in MK on my 40th birthday when it was evacuated.
