Said goodbye to our dog today

I'm so sorry to hear about your pup. Our 13yo cocker was put down on 9/22. We actually waited too long -- it probably should have been done a month before that. It's so hard to let go of them, but it is for the best. At least they had a good life.

I'm so sorry for your loss :grouphug: He is so lucky to have spent those 4 years with you!

I'm so sorry. He is looking at whoever is taking the picture with such joy and love! They really do occupy a special place in our hearts don't they.
I'm sorry, sending hugs.

Sorry for your loss. We put our 131/2 year old boy down a year and a half ago and I still burst into tears when I think of him. Some people do not understand how special our pets become to us. At least your boy was well loved and you can take comfort in that.

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:We put our dog down in the beginning of August. Same thing as yours, we thought ACL equivalent and turned out to be advanced cancer. We had him a couple of more months and then it was time to take him to the vet. When Buddy and I met (he was a puppy) we just looked at each other and it was clear the he was my dog. I'm just getting to throwing away most of his toys today, but I am keeping a few. Man it's still hard!:hug::hug::hug:

OH I am so sorry. I am in the same situation with my 16 year old kitty. It is hard.

When I was growing up I always had animals. They are so loving and I always got so attached and it wax very hard on me when there time would come sooo I swore I would never have another pet. Fast forward to this past January... My DH, DS and I were wasting some time on the weekend and decided to stop at the pet store and we ALL fell in love with this little tiny beagle who was later named Katie. We love her sooooooo much and I kno that eventually I'll have to say goodbye but I feel blessed to have in my life and I wouldn't want it any other way!

I wish you the best and I kno he was very lucky to have a wonderful family with you.

I'm so sorry. I've been there, too. It is the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

What a beautiful boy he was!

I am so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful dog, and what a lucky dog to have been adopted by you.

So sorry... glad that you are able to appreciate the years that you had together!

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful boy. Even when you know the decision is right and it's time, it still hurts like crazy. Hugs to you...

What a handsome boy. Know that he runs free in the world without leashes. And he is waiting for you. Keep him close in your heart and you will always be together.

I've lost one dog to a long illness and one to an unexpected diagnosis of liver cancer. Both hurt tremendously, but when it is something that hits fast and unexpected like this you have the added pain of feeling punched in the stomach. Bless you for giving this sweetie 4 wonderful years.

So very sorry, clh. You know you gave him more years of love, a new life. He will be with you forever.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
