If his death is that profound here then they should have created a complete
seperate forum for homage to him, a central location here where we can all go and share feelings about him, not let it run rampant all over the boards....that would make too much sense.

I appreciate the point, this board is specifically for theme park strategy, and is kept to that for the most part so that is does not become clogged with irrelevant topics. But when a man who was as important to our generation as Steve Jobs dies, I believe the board can absorb a thread about it without interfering with anyone's park strategy planning.
As for the other guy....well, I don't really see how pic after pic of him and his wife dressed up like gepetto and pinnochio will help me plan my park days...but I didn't make nasty comments about it.

I have always thought of Steve Jobs as having Walt Disney-type influence, and this was supported in a comment on Anderson Cooper's show tonight on CNN.

He was a visionary who thought outside the box, followed his heart and never gave up on the dream - sound familiar?

Really? One thread is "running rampant all over the boards?"

Instead of griping here, hit the mod alert button. If they deem it irrelevant, they can move it -- but the continued vocal protests strike the wrong note.

If you don't want to read the thread, just hit the back button on your browser.

I don't understand how this is really that distracting. It's ONE thread.

If you really find it that offensive/off-topic/disturbing/upsetting then instead of complaining, hit the report button.

But if you're going to do that, you should probably go report it on all the other boards too.

The same could be said about you coming and telling me what I can and cannot post. It is not up to you.

I would say your posts on this thread continue to be off topic, therefore you fall into the category of posting off topic. Your lack of empathy for others is remarkable.

Lol! How is one thread "running rampant"? We don't need an entire forum for one thread...why don't you just go contribute some advice to a thread that interests you?

Now if that's not relevant to Theme Parks Attractions & Strategies then I don't know what is. I truly think it's disrespectful to say it's not. RIP Steve Jobs.

EXACTLY! The passing of Steve Jobs is relevant as he was a confidant and advisor to many things "Disney", as well as a leader in technological breakthroughs, many of which are used throughout the Disney parks. Have some respect people. I can't even believe that others would post such rude comments and remarks about the passing of another, let alone someone of such importance to the world, not only through his technological advances, but also through his life lessons about humanity!

um way more than one thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2812436&highlight=steve+jobs
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2812403&highlight=steve+jobs

it goes on and on and on and on.....its pretty rampant...
thank you very much..

Then STOP LOOKING FOR THEM. You don't frequent any of those other boards, do you?

Again, if different groups of posters want to discuss them, then let them. It's called processing grief.

One is posted on the NEWS board
Two are posted in COMMUNITY boards.

You really need to calm down. If these 4 threads are upsetting you this much, perhaps you should take a break from the internet for awhile.

That's running rampant? Seriously? How empty is your evening that you're hunting for rogue Steve Jobs threads?

The folks on the different forums each form a community. Each community is choosing to speak about this.

Seriously -- hit the mod alert button and move on instead of trying to lecture everyone here on what belongs and what doesn't.

um he/she was calling me out for saying one thread was running rampant....
I was correcting his observation in saying that there was more than one, I dont have to stop looking for them cause I am defending what i was being called out on, sorry bout that

Jobs is, to me anyway, very relevant to Disney. Way back when my husband and I went to college with a bunch of people who were the first "computer nerds" back when a computer filled up a whole room. Steve Jobs was part of that along with another guy who is an old friend of ours. My husband and I always comment when we go through Spaceship Earth that the guy at the computer in the garage looks exactly like our friend. The Disney connection here is that this friend of ours was the person who programed Space Mountain at DL waaaay back when. Jobs, along with Castro, Allen, and others were some of the first who wrote the programs for many Disney rides.

RIP Steve Jobs. You will be missed.

And not one of them are you being forced to click on, read and then complain about.

Someone just died. And judging by the threads that have been posted a NUMBER of people happen to care about that fact.

Can you just ignore it and leave it alone? Does every thread have to turn into an argument?

A man just died of cancer.

And you're (luckily) still alive and sitting on the internet complaining about people caring enough to post about the man.

Geez!

Couldn't agree more.

It's funny- the only people who are freaking out about the "off topic" threads are not frequent posters. I don't understand it

you dont think thats running rampant? Its on like every other forum here
My evening is not empty but you called me out on something that you were wrong about....I was merely making a suggestion that perhaps if this site really cared about him that they create a seperate forum for him for homage, whats wrong with that....a central location where we can all get together rather than it being spread out everywhere....

There are close to 60 forums and subforums that make up the DIS. I hardly think 5 threads are close to being on every other board. Exaggerate much?
