Headed to WDW in September...for our first trip.

Attempted to switch from free dining to the 40% off room, because it is a better deal for us. Couldn't get it without upgrading rooms. :sad2:

(I'm grateful to be going...don't get me wrong...but I already had to switch resorts to get free dining...so I feel as if I "missed out" on that offer because of room availability...and now I feel as if I "missed out" on the 40% off as well... I thought my research/learning would really pay off, but I feel like I keep missing the boat somehow... I knew the offers would move fast...but wow!) :confused3

Anyway...enough of my sob story...the question is this:

Might more rooms become available for this offer? Do they release them in batches, based on the rate at which they fill up? Or, is it once and gone...?
Is it worth repeated calls every few days? Anyone have any insight into this?

Yes, inventory changes all the time. Keep trying and keep trying !! Good Luck.

That is disappointing! Availability is always changing! It's happened to me in a day, sometimes it takes one more call, sometimes several. But I'd not wait, but rather call at least once a day.

Good luck and hope you have an incredible trip!!! :goodvibes

It takes about 2 minutes to check availability online. I would do it whenever you are on a computer and happen to think of it.

I notice you are staying at the Poly. For what dates? When I check online I have no problem getting a Garden View room for various dates in September.

I had to upgrade my room as well it cost me 300.00 more than the room I wanted. I keep checking every day.

Thanks, all, for the insights! So appreciated!

Sept 24-29

(I keep hearing the same things from others on here: We had no trouble getting free dining at CSR in September. We had no trouble getting a 40% off Garden View at the Poly in September. Again...somehow...we just keep missing the boat. :confused3 Something about our specific dates, I guess...)

Oh, and just a reminder that when you check online, you must do so through the link provided at this page. You cannot use the main reservations page, because not all "available" rooms are available with the summer discount.

It seems to be that late September is the issue. If you go Sept 20-25 then there are Garden View rooms available. Interesting that the Free Dining is still available your week. Disney seems to be allocating less rooms to the 40% offer.

Any chance you could move you trip to 4 days earlier?

Well, in my inexperience, I booked the non-refundable flights already. I guess I assumed that if I watched for the discounts and called right away, I'd be fine.

I haven't done the research on this yet, but I'm guessing it would be a $75 change fee per ticket (for our party of four), which would be awfully close to negating the disount, or certainly would lessen it enough to make it not worth the hassle of re-adjusting all of our plans for time off work.

I know that the bottom line is that I should be happy that the Free Dining made the Poly affordable enough to be worth the stretch for us...and I'll work on focusing on this. ;)

(Again, I am new to Disney, but as a first-timer these discounts seem a bit like a cheap old foot-in-the-door technique. They have the ads for these plastered everywhere, as if these discounts are simply the going rate for the summer/fall season...and yet, when you call, availability is highly limited...all in the hopes of upselling once they have someone on the line. Not a bad scheme, given that it works!)

Last year was our first trip. To be honest...where you stay won't matter a whole lot to you. Your experience at Disney with your kids will be so wonderful! You will have a great trip no matter where you stay.

Some rooms were never released with the promo. Trust me they may become available as time goes on. I was just able to save 250.00 because the standard rooms just opened up yesterday at AKL. So keep trying. I looked yesterday morning and nothing checked yesterday afternoon and they were there. Not a huge savings but enough that it paid for my one day passes I don't really need. I wanted the one day because we want to add the QSDP.

This is also true. I would stay at POP for sure in a minute my kids loved that place. The only reason we are staying at AKL is because one we have left over tickets. And the 40% discount so our trip for 10 days with the QSDP is 2450.00. IF we stayed at pop with free dining the total with 10 myw tickets would be 1675.00.

This is great information, Kelly! Thanks so much for taking the time to share this!

Just wondering which airline you booked? I ask because we booked Southwest a few years ago and our tickets were non-refundable BUT they did allow us to change our flights for a fee of I think $6 per person.

(Things might have changed but if you are interested it doesn't hurt to ask)

Take care!
