SAB Slide?

Any updates to the slide at SAB? Has it re-opened yet?

I think the tentitive date for finishing is April 4 2003.... haven't heard that it has changed..

Someone mentioned in a trip report that the slide opened on the last day of her trip.

Is it better? Are teh seams between the sections more smooth? Does it leak less?

I would love to know it was true that the SAB slide is open now. We will be there on Tuesday (can't believe I can actually say that--it sounds SO close!). We saw the slide on the video and on the TV show Great Hotels, and my kids were SO excited. Then when we learned it would be closed during our trip it was a BIG let down. It would 'make my day' if someone could confirm that the slide really is open now!

We checked out of BCV on 3/16 and the slide was open. I think it opened the day before. They finished ahead of schedule but they were real-closed mouthed about the opening, even though they were clearly testing it i.e. several lifeguards went down & there was an effort for leaf removal.
I'm sorry that I can't answer the question about whether it was improved because its been years since we stayed at BC, so I have no frame of reference. DS/8 was the only family member to try the re-opened slide & he pronounced it GREAT. I would have tried the slide, but I guess I'm really getting old. It was our BCV check-out day & the weather was only so-so pool weather--cloudy & slightly cool. (It was our only not-so-great weather day for our entire trip) So I just enjoyed the slide thru DS.

Oh I am SO THRILLED!!!! I just told my twins! We will be leaving tomorrow for our trip and won't get to BCVs until Tuesday (stopping at HH for a couple of days). We had our fingers crossed that the slide would open early. This is SO exciting. Thanks for letting us know!

I can't wait to tell my kids. They will be bouncing off the walls. We'll be at the BCV next Thursday.

I just searched the Trip Reports board and can't find where they say it has re-opened early.

I wouldn't want to tell my kids if I wasn't 100%.

If anybody knows, can we please get a current update.

I went over to the Yacht Club for dinner Wednesday night and saw alot of people on it. We stayed at the Wilderness lodge, so I didn't personally go on it.

No need for this news to end the thread, it would be great to get slide reports to tell us if the slide is better and the bumpy ride that has been reported to occur between slide sections has been improved. Were the fixes just cosmetic, or is it a smoother ride and improved?
