S.S. member Cruises

I hope they release the point charts on the site soon. If I have an April use year does anyone know if would I be able to borrow 2012 points for the cruise?

Thanks!

I hope they release the points soon too. I received the flyer in the mail and was very interested, I went to look on the member site like the flyer told me too and then nothing. So I came to the boards. At first I thought I was just blind but then someone posted they could not find it either which made me feel better.

I would think you could borrow 2012 points. We have an August use year and depending on the points I will probably borrow 2012 points too or I would love it if they allow a split payment, like half with points and the other half a cash or just all cash. I was wondering though if we did the cash does it have to be paid at time of booking or the normal 90 days before the cruise? Everything is so new to me with DVC!

Looking at the price list for this years cruise, the prices are more expensive than regular cruises of the same lenght leaving just before and after the member cruise. However, probably because the ship is bigger, it seems that the prices are a bit lower on Dream in comparison with the Wonder.

Member cruise rates include gratuities, this should be considered when comparing prices with regular DCL cruises. Presumably, some of the extra costs also pay for the "gifts" you receive onboard and special guests.

So, just for fun and to engage the spirit of "looking forward" ... we booked the 3n DCL Dream just before the Member Cruise (departing 9/15). We'll hope to do back-2-back starting with the Deluxe Inside Stateroom (3n) with move to Verandah room for the 4n Member Cruise. Sound like a good plan? ;)

Also probably goes to help pay for all the DVC 'officials' that also join the cruise. I mean I doubt that Jim Lewis is paying out of his own pocket for a room.;)

the point cost really jumps for the member cruise ! I was thinking we could pull it off without borrowing from 2012 but if the points are that much higher then that won't work. the difference between a reg cruise and the member cruise for the same family is almost 200 points ! WOW !!

We just received our S.S. Member Cruise information yesterday also. We have been DVC members for several years, but still have not taken the member cruise. We are going to try for it this time. I too, looked on the members website and didn't find any information about it there yet. We want to pay cash for the cruise and was wondering about the price. I did call MS and asked a few questions, but I'm waiting for the prices to come up on our member website.

An even better plan is to book the same category and have the same cabin. Then you won't have to pack up and move in the middle! But yes, sounds good to me!

For any other ship I would agree ... but we "always" book balcony cabins and really wanted to experience the virtual porthole on this new ship.

Received my flyer today. Decisions........

I know what you mean! I have never been on a cruise and I am a little nervous about it so we are tossing it around too. I wish the prices would come out so I can think more seriously about it.

Got my flyer today too, and like the rest of you couldn't find info on the member website so I came here! ;) I am tempted by this as well...for just my Dh and I so it would be less points. We're taking the kids on the Dream in May anyway! I am sure when I bring this up to the DH, I will get the eye roll, bigtime. I am going to check out how many points the member cruise was for this year just to get a feel for whether we'd consider or not. I have always wanted to stop 2 times at Castaway Cay!

OK ETA: does anyone know how much it was, point wise - for one adult in a CAT 11 for this years member cruise?

I'm excited also, my DH told me to get more information about the member cruise. I'm hoping the points and prices come out soon so we can decide what to do as well.

Oct 2nd is marked on my calendar

I just found a post for the 2010 member cruise which listed a CAT 11 for an adult going for 120 points per person and the cash reservation for that same category being $902. They also say the points go up every year, pretty much. Thats a lot of points...now I know tips are included and there are daily gifts. (I mean, this is value season in September) But the only way we could do this would be to book one of us on points and the other on cash. Which is still steep. I can't use almost all my points on the cruise! As always, DVC is smart to take a value season cruise and make it a member only cruise, and jack up the points!

Uggggg! We just received the flyer also and had been thinking about doing the 2011 cruise. But.....we also are flying to WDW on the 2nd. It's pretty much an all day trip and we'll be in the air before MS opens and the layover really isn't long enough to get a booking from the sounds of it.

So I guess that decision is made. :sad2:

Can't wait to book. I have not been able to go during the past because of work but for 2011 it works out perfect and I will be celebrating my birthday on the cruise.

I do have a question do you call in exactly at 8am eastern or in my case 7am or cna you call in a minute or two before?
