Hi, guys - just wanted some feedback.... what are your thoughts with regard to the following scenarios (assuming S/P/D does come out as a general offer and is available for our trip)?

Plan 1: Stay value (we love Pop), but upgrade to DDP (rather than Quick service).
Plan 2: Stay moderate, where we get the DDP already

Has anyone run the numbers to see which option (typically) comes out better? For what it is worth - we have 2 adults 2 children (10 and 13).

Thanks!!!

I'm sorry? Did I do something wrong?

I think they just posted something not related to your thread. No worries.

Since you'd be paying adult upgrade prices for your kids you'll probably be better off at a moderate paying child prices for everyone.

From my general DDP costs you'd be saving a few hundred bucks at the moderates. With FD our family usually saves going value and upgrading, but since you're paying for it a bit the mods make more sense.

We are staying at pop and upgrading our free dining to the DDP. That works best for us. We like the value resorts as we don't spend much time in the rooms.

We don't spend much time in the room either, and we love POP... but, was just wondering if going this other route might work better..... hmmm... things to think about!

LOL - pittsburghmom, glad to know I didn't break some sort of message board etiquette!

Thanks to all who replied!!

I spent a long time one night this week trying to crunch numbers on this deal. I have 2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 7) and from what I have come up with, it would only cost us $159 extra TOTAL on a 9 night trip if we stay at a mod rather than a value. If my math is right and if this deal comes out and we get to go, I think it would definitely be worth $159 extra for us. We haven't stayed at a mid in a long time so it would be fun to try something different. Hope this helps!! :)

I saw on another thread where someone said kids (9 and under) get free park admission with S/P/D. Is that correct? If so, I will be thrilled. We have always gone with free dining in the fall so these spring prices hurt!!!

I started, today, to try to crunch the numbers... but, my brain just hasn't been functioning today :lmao: Thanks for sharing your results!! Which mod are you looking at?

It took me a long time but I was grateful another DISer posted the dining prices on another thread. That helped a ton!!! I was comparing Pop (love it) and CBR. Stayed at CBR when I was in high school (LONG time ago

So, I just ran the #s ... and for us (since we have 2 kids over 10), looks like going moderate would be a bit less than $75 more, in total.... Something to think about for sure. I really like the bus service for POP... but would kind of like to do a moderate... and, for only $75 more, seems like it would make sense too - assuming, of course, that they do put a deal out and I can get it!

I *think* that I'd like POFQ, but I know that they have fewer rooms released (from what I have read) during these sales... so, who knows if I could even get it. Have you stayed at CSR? CBR seems so big - but, it is really pretty!!

Fingers crossed for both of us!!!!

That is awesome, an even better deal for you!!! With your kids being older, I think you would really benefit from the bit of extra space a Mod offers, too. For $75, you gotta go for it! Of course, that is if they even offer it. I am pretty sure I will cry a LOT if they don't...doubt a trip will be in my future if not for some kind of deal.

We LOVED POFQ. It is the smallest resort and it is so quaint and beautiful. We really loved it. I have not stayed at CSR...it just doesn't appeal to me like the others. I don't know exactly why, but I just don't think I will ever choose to stay there. CBR is definitely huge, but that awesome pool and the beach-type atmosphere is really sucking me in. :-) We will be driving and if not for that, I don't know if I would choose that resort b/c it is so spread out.

We love everything about POP but I just have an itch to try a new resort if it is going to be that much cheaper. I would love to do AoA, but the regular rooms there will likely not be included. I think a mod will be nice as we haven't stayed in one in so long. We have been at Pop our last three trips. I loved it even better than when we stayed at WL b/c it is just so much more colorful and fun, especially for the cost savings!!

When are you looking to go? We are looking to check in on March 27 and I'm not even sure if S/P/D will even go that long. I haven't found info on how long the PIN goes to just yet. Have you seen that info?

Wishing us tons of Pixie Dust!!! :-)

I haven't seen the dates. We're looking to go Feb 21-Mar 1. I'm really thinking about maybe stalking the board to see if / when they are offering the S/P/D and then stalking the reservation like to try to get POFQ if it is offered.

We're flying down - and, we're not renting a car, so we 'd be relying on Disney transportation. How did you find (if you used it) the bus service with POFQ?

Yes - definitely, fingers crossed for Pixie Dust!!! :)

This post shows the wording from the PINs that were released in July... looks like the dates go through 4/12 from that PIN.

Thank you so much for posting that...I have searched forever trying to find those dates and had no luck. You made my day. I really appreciate it! You've boosted my hopes! :-) Hoping we get DUMPED on with PIXIE DUST!!!!!! pixiedust:

You're welcome - now, let's hope that the s/p/d is released to the public and that the dates remain the same! :)
