does anyone have any advice on the shark's underwater grill, dine w/shamu and backstage at believe dinner's? would anyone suggest one of these being the best for little kids? do you get to see shamu at both the dine w/sham and backstage at believe? are the trainers at both of these? thanks for your help!

Very briefly, Dine with Shamu means what it says: you get to see an orca. Backstage at Believe, which is at the same place, does not have an orca interaction. They show a 30 minute video about the maiking of Believe. An orca may choose to swim in to the pool, but that's it. They make it clear that they do not guarantee you'll see a whale. After the meal, they usher you in to reserved seats for the Believe show -- not the greatest seats IMHO, a little off to the side, but not bad.

Soooo. For kids I'd recommend Dine With Shamu. The kids at Backstage at Believe aren't interested in the video and their constant chatter makes it hbard for those who are interested follow it.

Sharks Underwater Grill has one of the coolest restaurant decors in the world. if your child thinks sharks are cool, then they'll love it. Waits can be lengthy.

Very true, Sharks underwater is really cool.::yes:: If you do this make your ressies early.

Ok. . . I've read so many different things about Sharks Underwater Grill I'm seriously confused.. . .

First, I read you can call a 1-800 number to make reservations. Well, I called and you can only make reservations if you have an AP and only like 24 hours in advance.

Then I read that you could make reservations for Shark's at guest services right inside the gate 1st thing when they open. . .

. . .THEN I read that you actually have to go TO Shark's to make your "reservations" but it's really not a true reservation and THEN I read that they don't open at the same time as the park so you can't go there 1st thing. . . . . whew. . .somewhere in there is likely reality, but I can't ferret it out. . .

Soooo. . . does someone know the REAL DEAL???? Please share!

Last year we just made our resses 1st thing @ guest services.I think alot depends on park attendence.

We send the fastest person in the group to RUUUUUUUUUUUUN down to the restaurant and make reservations for that day. It is a truly awesome experience. The food and service are excellent and just sitting there watching the sharks is amazing.

Ok. . .so here's the definitive answer according to the very nice gentleman at the Sharks' Underwater Grill host stand.

If you are a passholder, you may call 24 hours in advance and leave a message as to your preferred seating time.

Otherwise, you must go to the host stand at the Grill (that side of the park opens at 10:00am) and put your name on the list. Guest Services cannot put your name on the list for Shark's and will send you to the host stand. There are seatings every 15 minutes. I was told that if you go between 10:00-12:00, you shouldn't have a problem getting on the list, but after that all the slots really fill up. I was told this was pretty much regardless of the day of the week. Peak times may be different in that the seating will fill up quicker.

11:00am is the first seating available and closing will vary with the park hours.

We are going this Saturday & Sunday, so when we return from vacation I will be certain to post our experience with this issue.

Which do you prefer, lunch or dinner? What is a good time to eat?
