s/d no discounts for teacher in late April, 2004

I know the original poster is looking for late April 2004, but I just booked 8 nights during Easter break (4/9-4/17/04) w/ teacher discount. I was really psyched! This will be our first at the Dolphin. DH is still calling it the "dorky " Dolphin but even he was impressed with the discount!
Keep trying and good luck!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU, TOO.

I was successful, ultimately, in booking the late April time, in case you folks got confused by the flow of these messages.

I hope others will persevere like some of us successful ones and get the rate that works for them. We teachers, goverment workers, and nurses tend not to be able to afford such luxury. But, this deal that they have is sweet, really.

I hope we all can enjoy.

airhead,

When I was forced to change dates because my college changed its Spring Break dates I was told that there were no discounted rooms available for that week. Two weeks later, I got the rooms at the Teacher's Rate.

AHA! Somebody who works at a college, as I do! I am trying to figure out if, as a city college employee, I would qualify for a S/D teacher/government discount, and what I would have to show in the way of proof. Help?

Musicmom,

I am not a college prof or a teacher. I am married to a teacher and I work for the government in NY state. So, I'll step up and share what little I know. Teacher and government workers get the same discount. You do need to show proof with an ID or check stub. This all is what I learned from the Dolphin Reservationist.

You can always doublecheck with the hotel.

musicmom3,

I showed my picture ID and a copy of my contract for one of the classes I was teaching at the time. I've read here that a copy of a teaching certificate will do. Some folks have gotten the discount this way even though they weren't actually teaching at the time.

Just my 2 cents. Just got back from the Swan.

By their name badges, it was evident there was some sort of conference going on, but I don't know if this would be considered a large crowd or not.

In all honesty, I found the conventioners to be kind and friendly. Many would smile at my children in the elevators and be quite friendly, like they missed their families while on business or something. Definitely a more subdued and relaxed atmosphere from all the children running around at the previous resort we stayed at.

So glad it worked out for you. Have fun!
