DH and I are going to WDW for our 2nd anniversary...DS (who will be about 3 mo old) was going to stay with my mom, but we decided it wouldn't be fun without the baby so ge is coming along. We had planned only 2 PS's-for Yachtsmans Steakhouse and Kona Cafe since the food and wine festival is at EPCOT. I am wondering if I should plan more meals-maybe something with characters for DS?

For people who went with babies--what did you do at the restaurants? Just hold the baby while you ate? I have a sling, DS is totally not used to it!

Also, we have tix for MNSSHP..DS doesn't need one right?

Did anyone use publix for formula and diapers? I am figuring it would be easier to get it in FL than pack it...I am afraid they won't have the right ones...

We just decided that we were defintely bringing the baby and I am kind of freaking!!!

we took our 3 month old last December - we had a great time.

I took her to many restaurants, but I 'think' Yachtsman is quite formal - I haven't eaten there, but if it is along the lines of California Grill or Jiko then I would choose somewhere else to eat. You will be made welcome everywhere with a baby, but there are some places where you would enjoy your meal better as a couple, if you see what I mean.

In the parks, we mostly took the stroller into the restaurants - Garden Grill we couldn't and she sat on my nap - that was quite ackward - I wouldn't recommend it. We were in a big party so we passed her around, btu it was not ideal.

Everywhere else, we took the carseat in - I don't like her to spend all day in a carseat, but for a meal in a resort, then the carseat works fine. You can just put it on a seat next too you.

I wouldn't bother with character meals now, unless you are wanting some photos - you will have a nice time, but your son won't really appreciate the characters yet.

I would work on getting DS used to some sort of sling, it will be a big help in lines and at Epcot there are no strollers allowed in the pavilions so a sling is essential.]

DS does not need a ticket for anything - we took DD to MVMCP and she had a great time, slept in her stroller most of the night and then Big DD went in the stroller and the baby slept happily in her sling.

We bought formula and diapers at Winn Dixie - they had normal brands of diapers - Pampers etc. I am from the UK so the formula is different for me anyway, but Walgreens seemed to have quite a few brands.

I agree with pp about the Yachtsman, quite formal so you may not feel as comfortable there with the baby, esp. if he starts to cry for some reason. My ds was a little older when we took him for the first time so we were able to use the high chairs in the restaurants - but they're the kind baby has to be able to sit up and have good head control in order to be safe and comfortable in it. If you can bring you're car seat in that would be ideal. We mostly ate at counter service restaurants at WDW and could take our stroller into most of them. The nicer sit-down restaurants I think are not really 'stroller-friendly' so they may not allow it. The character meals are fun...I recommend it if you think you will enjoy it for yourselves or just want some cute pics of the characters with ds, otherwise he probably won't care at this age. You can also go to the Toon-town fair at MK for meet and greet with Mickey.

Thanks for your replies..DH and I had our wedding reception at Yachtsmans--this is our annual dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Last year, we were seated across from the owners of the NY club Studio 54 and their family full of 4 kids under the age of 5 who were crawling on the floor and being so obnoxious that 3 tables of people asked to be moved. So, I think that taking my DS won't be an issue since I have dealt with worse.

We took our daughter to the Yachtman Steakhouse in June and there were 3 other babies under a year old there at the same time. One thing I forgot to mention about restaurants on the other thread you posted on is that we were offered 'infant highchairs' in a few restaurants. I know Tony's Town Square had them, and I think Narcoosee's, Citricos, and Yachtsman, but I could be wrong about oen of those places. We only used it at Tony's so I forget where else they asked us, but they're like those infant seats you see attached to the shopping cart at your local grocery store. It's that type of infant seat, with a 3 point harness, and it's on a high-chair type base with wheels on it. My daughter hates her carseat so unfortunately that was the same with the infant high chair.

About diapers, etc. at Publix. I brought my diapers with me but bought wipes down there and I use Huggies Newborn and Publix didnt' sell them. I just got Huggies Natural Care or something like that instead, but if brand is important to you, you might want to pack your own. Also, my cousin stopped there to buy diapers for her baby and she uses Huggies Ultratrim and they were out of them in size 3 when she made her stop. Since my mom was arriving the next day they didn't buy any and asked my mom to check and they had them then.

Thanks again justhat! Since we are going for 4 days, I think it will be easier to just take the diapers, formula, and wipes with us. We are vacation club members, so we usually make a grocery stop for water etc...so we figured we could get his things then-but the more I think about it-we would be better off just taking it with us!

We are going to call member services to make a PS for a character breakfast...
Casey LOVES his carseat, so the infant seats will be great for us. He DESPISES the front carriers though, so that is going to be a problem. We need to find an alternative to a sling or front carrier if I can't get him used to them...

try a sling rather than a front carrier - I used a pouch sling when dd was 3 months and she loved that -it was just like being held in arms.

I was just about to post a question regarding infant seating when I saw this thread. I was definitely wondering what we will have to do at Chef Mickey's when we go in November. It will be nice if they have the infant high chairs or if they provide one of those devices to place an infant seat on. It's still 2 months away and hopefully she will get better. I usually end up having to hold her now at some point when we go out.

we didn't see anything to hold a car seat, although we were quite happy placing the carseat on a booth type seat.

We had the infant high-chair at Crystal Palace - we didn't eat at Chef Mickeys, so I can't comment on there.

Try a sling if you end up having to hold the baby, eat makes it easier to eat if baby is in a sling (I mean a cloth type sling not a Baby Bjorn)

You can always put the car seat in an upside down high chair if necessary. We never brought our carseat to the parks since it would have been too much of a hassle to carry the folded up stroller, carseat, diaper bag, baby, etc. on the buses.

When we called for priority seatings, we requested an infant seat if they had one...
I am still trying to get DS to like the sling and carrier! He hates it still! Yikes! I don't know what I will do if I can't get him used to it...I guess I will just carry him!

Just got back and we took 5 month old Grandson, he doesnt sit up yet.
Here is what we did in the restaurants we took him to

Chef Mickey: Had infant high chair for him to lay in.

Garden Grill: We were seated on top and allowed to bring his stroller. The manager had to help us get permission to bring it in the building and then they took us up a ramp with the stroller. We was seated in an area where we had plenty of room for the stroller too.

PrimeTime: We pushed his stroller in and he sat there until he tired of that.

At Shades of Green we did the Buffet and used the stroller there too.

2002Disneybride, does your son like his stroller? If so, then I don't think it'll be too bad holding him in lines as long as you can put him in the stroller from point to point. This is what I did most of the time in DL a few weeks ago and my daughter was 16 pounds and I didn't have any problems. The only problem was that if she fell asleep in the stroller, I left her there till she woke up, which meant I spent a lot of time walking around and people watching. When she was in the Bjorn all the time at 3 months I just took her on rides awake or asleep since she didn't have to be moved. At that age, however, she hated her stroller so we barely used it and didn't have a choice with the Bjorn.

We went when our DD was 4mo and we used the carseat at the resturants. Just keep in mind that there is alot of activity at the character meals so look for a place that the baby can be out of the way. You don't want Tigger or Goofy to bump into your baby in the aisles.

Next month we will be there with our twins(DS DD) that will be 3 months old.

I have 2 kids 2 and 8 months, so I have used a front carrier. They are both pretty big (currently 41lbs and 22lbs!) Anyway- someone reccomended (sp?) the Ultimate Baby Wrap to me. It holds from 5-35lbs. I just ordered it so I am hoping DD likes it. It has 5 positions to put baby in and after much research I liked this one the best. It secures them with a 5 point harness like setup. This is my first foray into the sling world but I'm really excited about this one. It is made of stretchy material like a tshirt. I have only heard good things about it so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I ordered it online through Babies R Us. They were the cheapest. I hope this helps your little one. Also- thank you everyone for letting me know that you can't take the stroller inot alot of places. I am glad I ordered a sling!
