Our boys have been to WDW around 5 times and we try to make it a new experience every trip. We have done the pennies, sigi books, pictures, kidcot and key chains on past trips.

My boys are 9 and 11 years old, we hate to interrupt our touring plans to hurry up to get to a particular rest. in time for our PS. So...We decided to enjoy this trip without PS. I know - we are  and will probably end up eating burgers for 9 days! :goodvibes

Here's our plan. Instead of a sit down meal with PS while at EPCOT, we want to try to sample "something" from each country in the World Showcase :mickeybar as we tour the park that day. It can be food, deserts or drinks ( non- alcoholic ) that we wouldn't be able to find at home. Nothing too expensive as we are planning to make sure that we get something from each country.

Please give me an idea of unusual foods that you like to snack on and how much it costs per person or if we can share the sample.

TIA for helping us to creat a new magical memory ! :earboy2:

bumping.... :Pinkbounc

although we are doing PS...we have also decided to take one day and do the 'snacking around the world' at Epcot! Any suggestions of 'not to be missed' snacks/foods from WS?

Stop in the bakery in France it's hidden up in a corner but YUM! Last time I was there I had the ham and cheese croissant, just be srue to get it heated up. There were also a bunch of delicious looking deserts. And a cheese and baguette platter.

We usually do this too. We usually start in Mexico and work our way around. But I am usually too full by the time we reach Canada, etc. So, the last time we started in UK and worked our way around.

In Mexico we get the kids combo. It comes with a kids taco, tortilla chips and a drink. I eat the taco and the kids share the chips. Warning, there is no salsa given but I think you can order cheese sauce. We usually just use the packets of hot sauce from the condiment area. We also get a churro.

China, we like to get egg rolls or one entree. We had the twice cooked beef last time and it was good. We share these. DD got a fruit bowl here last time and it was pretty big with fresh fruit.

Germany, DH gets a beer.

Italy, no counter service???? Too bad. I wouldn't mind a little mini pizza.

Japan, we usually get the kids meal yakitori chicken. This is like terriyaki chicken with white rice. We may get an adult yakitori chicken if DH wants some.

Morocco, me and the girls like the desserts, but DH will usually eat his main portion here. He got a lamb sandwich once and a schwarma platter once. (PS, sign up for the Morocco tour here if your kids are a little older. We had fun and learned a lot.)

France, DESSERTS FROM THE BAKERY, of course. My one DD likes the strawberry tart. DH liked the peach tart. I will take whatever. PLus they have some nice crusty bread, if you prefer.

UK, fish and chips!

I've never made it to Canada to get beavertails (always too full by then) and now I hear these are gone.

Try not to overorder at each place or you won't make it far. We have had success with getting just a kids meal and then all of us nibbling on that. But we are 3 light eaters plus DH. He usually just waits until Morocco or cleans up whatever we leave. If you have bigger eaters, maybe try one adult entree at each place. Or try an appetizer (like eggrolls) or a drink (like a beer in Germany, for the adults only of course).

I also suggest the egg rolls in China, watermelon juice in Mexico, and lefse in Norway. Now I'm hungry!

Wow!

Great responces! I appreciate it. We are looking forward to our trip. I will take the info of not eating too much from any one country to heart. I'm not sure that I will make it BUT my boys have hollow legs any more - they eat triples at Wendy's and foot long subs each when we have subs out. I can't keep them fed any more. :sad2: Gone are the days when we could eat for a fair amount of $ by sharing dinners!

My whole family and i did this last year can't remeber everything we ate but heres an IDEA be open to new maybe starnge foods. we made a rule that we cant eat any food like what we have here ( ie. no hershey's bars or regular candy with a different name) this makes it more fun i thought! its a GREAT idea and we had tons of yummy new foods. We even tried the " SHIRMP CHIPS" from china or japan. Those were pretty gross but we all tried at least 1!!! have fun!!

Melon shaved ice from the little stand in Japan. Mmmmmmm.

There are a couple of other flavors, but the melon is a bit more Japanese and, well, it's just darn yummy! A quick trip through the food section of the Japan shops will offer up a whole new world of snack foods. :flower:

That sounds SO awesome! Remind me of that before next year's trip!

By the way the Cheese and baguette platter is AMAZING best cheese ever and I'm ALL about the cheese (I live 5 mins from Wisconsin so that's my excuse). The deserts and coffee ...well as the French would say hoo hoo hoo c'est magnifique (insert french accent). We waited FOREVER to get food at the counter service in Mexico and it tasted fine, but wasn't what I'd call "authentic Mexican food" and I've lived in Mexico. It was strange that it took so long because they seemed to have all the food ready and would give you the food right after you ordered. I couldn't figure out the hold up, I guess just Spring Break. I think it's a fabulous idea to snack around. The kids ate chicken nuggets at the Liberty Inn where they were also chosen to be "Jr Chef's of the Day", they got commemerative hats, got to go back stage, get announced and applauded, had their pictures taken and got to make their own sundaes. They also have a cool Red White and Blue Sprite there for the kids, my son 10 loved it.

We started this tradition on our last visit and it was fun and filling!!!

Canada-maple candy
UK-Fish and Chips
France-Eclairs
Morocco-Baklava
Japan-Udon Noodles
Japan-Kaki Gori
USA-Chix fingers
Mexico-Kids meal
Norway-haven't found anything great yet,but tried schoolbread and pretzels
China-egg rolls
Italy-Candy bar

I can't wait to do this again...it is the highlight of my trip!!!

You guys are geting me all excited taking about how fun it will be. :Pinkbounc EPCOT is one of my less favorite parks- probably because I've been pushing a stroller for years, dragging tired preschoolers and tired 1st and 3rd graders on past trips- the boys were there last time at ages 8 and 6 - tough years to travel with.

I'm SURE that they, who are a great bit older this trip than the last time we visited EPCOT ( 9 and 11 ) will behave better this trip because they are easily swayed ( seldom needed but well used ) by threats- just tell them no swimming and WOW what a difference in their behavior! :rotfl: I'm hoping to make it my favorite park this trip - I have yet to get to just take it all in without having to entertain small kids like in the past. :wizard: This is going to be a great trip! :cheer2:

I'm enjoying reading these ideas. This sounds like a great idea. I'm picky eater so some of the foods at the countires I wasn't sure about doing sit-down meal. I like the idea of getting snacks...

Now here is the question... Would you recommend to get one snack for two people to share? It seems like a lot of food after eating that many "snacks"!

We snacked our way around Epcot back in December, and it's going to become our new tradition. Here's what we had:

Churros in Mexico
School bread in Norway
Egg rolls in China
Pretzel in Germany
Gelato in Italy
Ice cream sandwich cookie in the USA (couldn't find a better choice; next time we'll have apple cobbler ala mode)
Kaki gori in Japan
Baklava fingers in Morocco
Napoleon in France
Chips with vinegar in the UK
Pretzel bread in Canada

Now here is the question... Would you recommend to get one snack for two people to share? It seems like a lot of food after eating that many "snacks"!

The kids slept in the stroller through most of our time in the WS, so my husband and I were the only ones eating. We shared one item from each country, and when we were done I was stuffed, and he was ready for dinner!

Thanks again to all those people who made a list for us and for all the other info- I have printed this thread off and put it in our vacation planner folder to refer to when we finally get to Epcot.

I don't have any ideas for you, but I can't wait to go back to Epcot and "Eat my way around the World!" We were at Epcot for our last day, and the dad of the family we were went with was "home" sick in bed. So we rushed through Epcot, and only did the kidcot. We had some funnel cake, but that was it. So I am going to EAT next time. Something from every country, starting with a margarita in Mexico! Well, I will probably get something to eat to go with my margarita. Hopefully I can convince my husband that it needs to be soon! Enjoy!

I asked my DH if he wanted to make any PS for a sitdown restaurant in Epcot and he said no. I asked if he wanted to snack around the world and he said yes. LOL. he doesn't pay much attention to planning though so I think he didn't really know what I was talking about.
