Ok, we own at BCV, so our chances of ever booking a GV are going to be slim, but I do have a question about them that will impact where I will try for an add-on in the future.

1. Any chance of ever booking a GV @ OKW at the 7 month window in non-prime visiting time. Say Choice or Dream seasons.
2. Why is there such a huge point discrepancy for the GVs between BWV & OKW (and now SSR) for weekday stays (I understand location, location location, but does it have to do with the way the points were setup when the reost first opened)?
3. Size difference for each (I know that we do not know much about SSR as of yet).
4. Quality of rooms. Is OKW starting to show it's age (see below)? What are the different characteristics of the GVs @ each resort?

We have not had our first trip home as of yet, but soon will. I am sure a great number of my questions will be answered at that time (not just regarding GVs but a lot of DVC). I see us typically staying in either a studio or a 1BR, but there will be the occasional family gathering requiring larger accomodations.

Thanks for any insight,

Edward

1. The non-prime time periods are actually the hardest to book GVs

2. They realized that the GVs were in such high demand at OKW, that they figured they could soak BWV members for them

3. There is some discrepencies in the listed size of the units, but OKW is definitely larger than BWV by at least a little. The big difference is that BWV units have those tiny, unusable kitchens, basically the same kitchens as in the other units.

4. All DVC units are renovated regularly and well mantained. I have been staying at OKW since the begining, in all my stays, just about everyone in a GV, I saw a thread bared couch once...and it was in a building that was slated for renovation next.

OKW is the only way to go for GVs. The new SSR will have the same tiny, unusable kitchens as the other resorts and the points are way closer to BWV than OKW.

I agree with Richyams that the low point seasons can actually be some of the hardest to book, and not just for GV (think BW during Food and Wine Festival).
OKW was the first, and DVC was basically forced to "guess" what point totals the market would bear......I think with regards to GVs it is safe to say they "guessed" wrong, and fixed that misjudgement with subsequent GVs. Fortuantely for us there is little they could do to "fix" the point structure at OKW now.

I mean really, I can't wait to get one of those OKW GV around the holidays for 36 points a night and 88 on the weekends. I'm going to run around the place in my underwear yelling: "I got this whole place for 36 points, I got this whole place for 36 points!!"

That aint nuthin new, I have been doing that for ten years!!!!

I used to do it on the balcony, until the mouse police incident.

The GVs at OKW are immaculate in my opinion. The only complaint we had last month when we were in one for four days was that the ceiling fan on the cathedral ceiling needed to be cleaned. Otherwise -- perfection as always!

While I'd love the extended years of SSR, I must say that I have come to appreciate greatly the 11-month reservations when combined with the point schedule at OKW. We got in to OKW right at the end, and got an add-on when they converted the hospitality house. Best purchase I've ever made!

Thanks for the info. I know that the lower point seasons are the higher choice seasons. My question is, do you think that there is a possibility of getting a GV at the 7 month window?

I knew Rich would have some info related to GVs!

Possibility? Sure, but earlydecember would be a very remote possibility. Oct-nov would be a better shot, still not good ad probably not ithout some waiting list at least.

Neither of these times would be something yu could count on, these times would be really difficult.

Setpember or January would be easier, still DEFINITELY not something ou could count on.
