I seem to have this 3-1-1 thing figured out

please correct me if Im wrong

each person can take1 quart size bag with as many 3oz or less of liquids or gels that will fit--for some reason I was thinking you could only put 3 items in the bag!!!!:confused3

anyway my main ? is what if the container is larger then 3 oz but its partially used--like a 6oz bottle of something but its already half gone--would that work

Im just trying to make packing easier

thanks all--one week till WDW and the Disney Fantasty!!!!:cool1:

All containers must be 3oz. or less. TSA has no way of measuring how much is in the bottle. You can have as many bottles as will fit in the 1 qt. ziploc bag.

You have the right general idea and yes you can fll the quart bag with as many items as will "fit comfortably". As for the containers they must be 3.4oz or less so no, you can not have a 6oz container with only 2oz of liquid.

Have you checked the tsa website? All the latest info and guidelines are there at tsa.gov

the 3-1-1 rule is:

(3) 3.4 oz container (or smaller) of any liquids, aerosols, or gels (if you're not sure if something is a liquid or a gel, TSA usually determines by whether it can hold it's shape when outside of it's container. This is up to the screening agent's discretion, so if it's something you're not sure about, bring a 3.4 oz or smaller container, or buy it when you get to your destination). Check the TSA website for more info on this.

(1) All containers 3.4 ounces or smaller must go into a 1 Quart sized (or smaller) clear bag with a zip top

(1) 1 1-quart bag per person

Hope that makes sense. The rules are usually about as clear as mud.

One more thing to add: all bottles must be clearly labeled as 100 ml (3.4 oz.) or less.

If you have a Safeway nearby (and I'm sure other stores have them too, but I KNOW Safeway does) they sell 3.4 oz containers in their travel section. About 99 cents per bottle, and the bottles are in various colors. They have stickers on them stating their size.

By the way, it's amazing how BIG 3.4 oz really is!

I decant everything into them. Shampoo (I despise the smell of Disney shampoos), sunscreen for the first day or so (I either check bigger bottles or have a store trip to buy more), arnica lotion for the aches and pains, etc. Ok I don't decant toothpaste, LOL. We either check the toothpaste or buy some on our shopping trip when there, if we can't find a suitable brand in travel sizes.

thanks for all the great advice

thats just what I needed to know

Im starting to get things together

cant wait
