Should I bring a citranella candle for the balcony? I get a bad reaction to mosquito bites so I usually end up avoiding sitting outside after dusk, but I know I'll want to sit out after the kids are in bed!
This will be our first trip to HH and I'm SO excited!:D

I go to HH every summer and I don't recall any issue with mosquitos. I spend long evenings outside, so I suppose I would have noticed. But beware of the Palmetto Bugs. Not harmful that I know of, but quite unnerving if you are bothered by bugs.

We've been in both June and August and have never had any problems. There are "no see ums", but quite honestly I've not seen them (ar, ar). These are supposingly annoying bugs, but they either are around in seasons other than when I've been there, or they are not much of a problem. They've never been an issue for me.

You will enjoy your trip. Hilton Head is a BEAUTIFUL place. I only wish that I could be there myself!

Have Fun!

We had no problems what so ever with bugs last July. Sitting on the balcony was very pleasant.

Bugs? No, they're not a problem -- be careful about the jellyfish, though!!! They love the warm ocean water there and many of them wash up on the beach.

I heard a commercial for a product that will lure and collect all blood seeking insect, they even said "no-seeums" I can't remeber the name, but it is sold at most ACE and True Value hardware stores. I try to listen next time I hear it.
