I just got done reading this wonderful book, for the second time. I never had a forum to pose this question before, so here it goes.

What do you think the "miracle" at the end of the book is? Do you think it is just his finding love and wittnessing the way the town rallied for her at the wedding? Or do you think she went in remission and lived?

I tend to fall for the latter. I am such a optimist and romantic that that is what I want it to be.

I wonder if they were to make this a movie, like The Notebook and Message in A Bottle, how it would end.

Thinking of those two stories however, make me wonder if she would have lived? I mean don't the love intrests both die in those two stories????

OK, I just did a search and found out that there is a movie. I guess I know what I am going to see if I can rent this weekend.

The movie starred Mandy Moore and wasn't nearly as good as the book :( In the movie, she died and he became a "better" person.

I'm reading "Bend in the Road" now....

I saw someone's tag on the DIS that said "Don't judge a book by it's movie" and A Walk To Remember is a FINE example. They "teeny-bopped" the movie big time and it does no justice to the book. With that said, I always thought she died in the end and never thought otherwise until my mom read it and asked the same question. On Nicholas Sparks' website he says that he himself wants to believe that the miracle is she lived.

Have you read The Wedding yet? It's the sequel to The Notebook. It has become my second favorite by him with AWTR being first.

I think that she dies at the end of the book. She was brought into his life to better him, and she did that. Loved the book, havent' seen the movie yet. I'm currently reading The Wedding. Loving it so far.

I read about this book (after I read it many times). I got the impression that she dies, I am not sure why, but I did. What I did read though (http://www.nicholassparks.com/Novels/AWalkToRemember/FAQ.html) , was that the author had every intention of having her die, but when he got to the end, he couldn't say the exact words. He wanted her to live. So he left it ambiguous intentionally. Yes, I think she died and the miracle was that he found love... but it can be taken any way you want it to :)

ALL of Nicholas Sparks' books are SO WONDERFUL! I am reading The Guardian and A Walk to Remember right now. I have read all of the others except The Wedding (softcover on July 1), and this is my second time with AWTR. I would suggest any of his to everybody! I loved A Bend in the Road, too! They are such easy, fun reads, they really keep the interest up! He is an awesome author, can't wait to see The Notebook, it really looks well done! (much better than AWTR). Doesn't he seem so romantic? I wish DBF said/wrote some of teh thigns taht Sparks can put out htere!

I love Nicholas Sparks. I've read Guardian, Walk to Remember, A Bend in the Road, and I think another one. The only thing I don't like is that they're all kind of the same. My friend got me into his books, and I'm so glad!

I choose to think maybe she lived. The movie did not do the book justice in the slightest!! But Mandy Moore was a perfect Jaimie!!

Now see, I really liked the movie, although I have not read AWTR yet. I have read many of his books and really enjoyed them, but I guess I will have to read AWTR and then compare the movie.

To me it was the song in the movie that got me. I could go through a box of kleenex watching the movie! Mandy Moore to me was great. I also break down at the part when they find out that his dad was paying for all her medical care. But then again, I am a real sap.

I got a kick out of seeing Darryl Hannah playing the MOM! Boy, do I feel old! I remember when she was the hot chick of the moment and now she is playing the teen hunk's mom!

I have read the book and seen the movie. I really enjoyed both! Even though the movie was slightly different from the book, i still loved it! I cant wait til the Notebook comes to theaters!!!

IMO Nicholas Sparks best book is The Notebook. I can't read it without crying my eyes out. I saw a sneak preview of the movie last week-end (opens this Friday) and it's good but not as good as the book. I always like the book better.
