Rush detained

If you are speaking about the terrorist money thing, I'm a bit confused. I have heard the President and a lot of his people actually boast about this program during speeches and press conferences. Surely this is no secret to the terrorists. Also the exact same thing was posted on the Wall Street Journal and The LA Times, not just the NYT. So maybe someone can explain why the President and the others decided to go after the NYT and the NYT only? Could it be perhaps the mention of the NYT might fire up the conservative base just like the flag burning and Gay marriage. Very interesting indeed the WSJ and LAT weren't even given a slap on the wrist.

What I've heard him (the Pres) say is that we are basically trying to dry up the terrorists funds. That is what we are doing. The Times revealed the "how".

I really don't care who published it. I'm more interested in who leaked it. Since the program was classified, and Congress was briefed on it, and it appears to be legal, the person(s) who leaked it should be charged.

Are you more interested in why the NYT was singled out or finding out who leaked the information to them?

:confused3 What I heard today were left wing lies and propaganda. Audio of Keller rationalizing why the NYTs must reveal national security secrets.

It was supposed to be a joke. I should have added a smiley. ;)

Announced with the same reasoning base that believes that Customs and Border Patrol are in a conspiracy with Palm Beach County to get Rush, among other gems from the past

The problem Dawn is that when Rush calls half this country evil, or liars, or traitor, or fools, you don't think, "Hey, wait a minute, half this country isn't lying traitorous fools." You think, "Right on Rush".

As you listen to Rush, keep a count of how many negative things the guy says. Note how often he insults and calls people names. In particular, note the times he refers to liberals, dems, feminazis, etc. Write down his comments, and they try those comments on some actual people. Remember, "libs" are some mythical boogie men. They are your friends, neighbors, coworkers etc. Go up to them, and call them the names you hear Rush call them. Insult them the way you just listened to Rush insult them. See how well it goes over.

I knew that, ;) but I don't think a few other posters did.

The WSJ published nothing until the details were published int he NYT. The LAT was going to publish with or without the NYT. The NYT was asked repeatedly not to publish the article but "they" didn't think the reasons were compelling enough. Since when did we elect the NYT? We knew a program existed. We didn't know how it was done, what banks were involved and which countries. Now those countries and banks will be pulling out. Its an abomination. Its interesting that the NYT demanded such a secret program in an editorial back in 2001. I say that the reporters should be dragged into court in order to find the leaker. I would certainly like to see the same enthusiasm employed as they demanded over the Valerie Plame NON ISSUE.
FURTHERMORE. None of the leakers ever implied that anything illegal was being done. Makes you wonder whose side Keller is on.

Interesting that I heard Bill O'Reilly advance the same theory last night. Sounds like its a reasonable theory and one that should have surely occurred to you.

An example of "hatred" please. I would agree that Michael Savage fits that description but I have yet to hear the hatred from Rush that his critics claim exists.

Here you go Dawn...happy to oblige!

On the June 5 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, host Rush Limbaugh predicted that the response to the alleged murders at Haditha from Democrats, the left, and the media would be a "gang rape ... to finally take us out in the war against Iraq." Limbaugh stated: "This Haditha story ... this is it, folks. This is the final big push on behalf of the Democratic Party, the American left, and the drive-by media to destroy our effort to win the war in Iraq." Limbaugh added: "[L]et me just put it in graphic terms. It is going to be a gang rape. There is going to be a gang rape by the Democratic Party, the American left, and the drive-by media to finally take us out in the war against Iraq. Make no bones about it."

Allow me take a couple of guesses as to how you might respond;

1) "Media Matters is a far-left smear site, and anything on it cannot be trusted"

Media Matters includes the audio clip everytime (as well as cites for any counter argument to an incident in question), so that there is no question about the authenticity of the point being made. It'll be interesting to see if you are paranoid and delusional enough to claim that the clip is doctored somehow.

2) "Rush is right, and this is not an example of hatred"

In which case, you believe that there's nothing wrong with smearing people attempting to report facts by equating their efforts to multiple sexual assaults on a human being.

I invite you to go to MediaMatters.org, where you'll find 340 DOCUMENTED cases of Rush either lying or applying an attack on a political opponent. The fact that you will inevitably discount all this in your mind somehow, continue to listen to Rush, and actually believe his on-air propagandandistic claim of being right 99.2% (which has never been confirmed by any legitimate source outside of his program) speaks volumes to your ongoing campaign to prioritize conservative ideology over facts.

The leaker(s) should be jailed.

Isn't it interesting that this program was publicly disclosed just a few months from the mid-term elections. Coincidence? Yeah, right.

Absolutely correct. It will be interesting where the NYT subscriptions go from here. I know that DH enjoyed the Sunday NYT prior to his leaving for Iraq. I very much delighted in cancelling that subscription back in February. DH only wishes that we still subscribed so he could enjoy cancelling now. ;)

"Rush is right" is NOT an example of hatred. It being secure in one's opinion. Secondly, my response to the Haditha news is that this is yet another accusation that the left loves to embrace. Much as they did Abu Graib. The mantra is the same. "our troops commit atrocities, we need to leave Iraq, we are losing the war". none of which is true of course. The left does embrace this news and it gets far more press than is deserving, particularly since they are allegations only.

Dawn,

Here ya go..for the reading.

“Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.”

"When a gay person turns his back on you, it's anything but an insult - it's an invitation. The difference between Los Angeles and yogurt is that yogurt comes with less fruit."

"One of the things I want to do before I die is conduct the Homeless Olympics. The 10-meter Shopping Cart Relay, the Dumpster Dig, and the Hop, Skip and Trip."

"Kurt Cobain was, ladies and gentleman, was a worthless shred of human debris." (hypocrite, much?)

Bottom line...you're saying that gang rape is not a term of hatred?

While being in possession of Viagra provides the opportunity for amusing conversation, its hardly more than that. Perhaps you could post your perscription drugs on this thread and we can decide if we want to giggle or not.

Nice idea.

On a side note - The State of Florida allows prescriptions to be written to a / the Doctor to protect to privacy of the individual whom the RX was written.

All his RX info was correct (DR had records of whom this was to be in the posession of)

Although imaging Rush getting his freak on does nothing for me, it's none of my business what-so-ever, at all and should NOT have been leaked to the press as it was. No charges were brought against him - what *exactly* was the point.

And it also violates HIPAA regulations - which was imposed during everyone's favorite "Get'n his freak on" President, Bill Clinton. By idea of his "lovely" wife. **gag**

So - this is ridiculous.

Its a descriptive term used to portray the preditory nature of the drive by media and hardly compares with John Murtha saying that our presence in Iraq is more dangerous than North Korea and Iran having nukes.

Rush very well may be a hypocrite, but this much is most surely accurate. If he actually said it, he was right at least once.

While I'm not debating on Kurt Cobain's life, I think calling him "a worthless shred of human debris" is not only over the top, it's pretty shameful.

He has also suggested that ugly people stay indoors until after dark. So what?
Obviously you have difficulty recognizing hyperbole and jest. I think you will hear similar attempts at humor on late night tv, Howard Stern and Imus but that doesn't seem to enflame you as much. Its called entertainment. You either find it funny or you don't. As far as Kurt Cobain, perhaps you could list his redeeming qualities. I would be curious.

It obvious to me that someone or several people had to trip over their own shoe laces to get this to the press before Rush probably even pulled into his own driveway. It was a blatant violation of privacy, I believe it was intentional and malicious.

See above for my thoughts on Cobain.

I find offense about the comment about a gay person, and I actually find it quite disgusting and rude.
