Rush detained

According to this report, the authorities are looking at revoking Rush's plea bargain and charging the doctor. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/localnews/content/local_news/epaper/2006/06/27/m1a_limbaugh_0627.html
_____________
The sheriff's office will turn the investigation over to the state attorney's office, which will determine whether charges will be filed.

"We believe there might be a violation of state statute, but it will be up to the state attorney's office to make the final determination," Miller said.

The incident comes as Limbaugh waits in legal limbo, a felony charge of doctor-shopping still hanging over his head. Prosecutors charged him with the crime in late April, but entered an agreement with him whereby the charge would be dropped after 18 months upon completion of substance-abuse treatment. He is required to submit to random drug analysis.

State attorney's office spokesman Mike Edmondson said his office also will look into whether Limbaugh violated that agreement with prosecutors. Prosecutors also will examine the possibility of "any doctor being complicit and the possibility of doctors being charged as well."

According to the deferred-prosecution agreement, Limbaugh must refrain from violation of any law.

If prosecutors determine the Viagra possession to be a crime, Limbaugh could again face the felony doctor-shopping charge. Doctor-shopping is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Rush has made some funnies today
"I've been racking my brain... I'm trying to figure out how Bob Dole's luggage got on my airplane. I told the doctor, 'Look, I'm worried about the next election.'"

"The people at Customs were as nice as they could be; they just didn't believe me when I told them that I got those pills from the Clinton Library gift shop. They told me at the Clinton Library gift shop that they were just little blue M&Ms."

"I know a lot of people in Washington don't even need Viagra; they just look at themselves in the mirror and the problem is solved."

I must say that his joking reverses the Razor. It seemed most likely based on the facts known previously that he was covering something proscribed by his agreement. But unless he is lying to his attorney, no way his attorney lets him joke like that if he is facing real legal jeopardy

Hey, Bob Dole made some money. When life hands you a lemon..... maybe we'll see a "Rush" commercial.

I saw one joke on the internet that was okay. Basically if Rush went off for a sex vacation, why did he come back with 29 unused pills.

Because "there is no amount of money" even applies to hookers after they get a good look at the guy.

To be perfectly honest with you, if you were here more than 3 weeks and I knew you better, it probably wouldn't bother me at all. You can dismiss it or you can take from that what you will. I do thank you for the apology.

All kidding aside, I wasnt trying to be a jerk. :)

If there is a problem I hope he gets fixed up...

If he's clean, then I hope he sues the crap out of everyone involved, for making him look like a dummy.

I'd be PO'ed if that happened to me, and it was just a label mix up or something.

I know. If I got bent out of shape a little, I apologize. Another thread got me a little ticked off. I'm sure we can find some common ground if you are, as I suspect, a Libertarian. :) I'm not the raging Liberal some claim I am.

I am a Libertarian. I didnt know I was so transparent! And you're right - there's probably more common ground than we both know.

It's nice to meet you!

Likewise. There are quite a few Libertarians around here. Start a thread about money and they all come out! I agree with them on a few points. See you at the next debate.

Rush is a moralizing goofball who spends hours a day on the air making fun of people.

Ah yes. Someone who doesn't listen but knows what he talks about.

While he DOES make fun of people, mostly libs, it's a very small portion of his "shtick". The rest of the time he just spews right-wing lies and propaganda.

My neighbors are old senior citizen cranks who listen to him everyday. The hatred and crap that he says makes me want to vomit, as I have to hear it all the time when I'm outside in my pool. I feel like screaming 'TURN IT DOWN.'

An example of "hatred" please. I would agree that Michael Savage fits that description but I have yet to hear the hatred from Rush that his critics claim exists.

Conservatives still speak out against premarital sex? Yes or no?

Frankly I don't think the issue of premarital sex for 55 year olds is the burning issue for conservatives that you think it is. That concern is usually reserved for teenagers.

:confused3 What I heard today were left wing lies and propaganda. Audio of Keller rationalizing why the NYTs must reveal national security secrets.

Burning or not, it's either wrong or it's not. At least it was the last time I checked, and I don't remember an age limit.

What I heard today was a great line about the Dominican sex trade from a caller that they couldn't dump in time. And beyond that, lots of Rush joking about the whole thing rather than being a stand up guy and puting it to bed... um... puting an end to the talk. Pretty good break form the hosts usual hate and anger.

If you are speaking about the terrorist money thing, I'm a bit confused. I have heard the President and a lot of his people actually boast about this program during speeches and press conferences. Surely this is no secret to the terrorists. Also the exact same thing was posted on the Wall Street Journal and The LA Times, not just the NYT. So maybe someone can explain why the President and the others decided to go after the NYT and the NYT only? Could it be perhaps the mention of the NYT might fire up the conservative base just like the flag burning and Gay marriage. Very interesting indeed the WSJ and LAT weren't even given a slap on the wrist.

I know very little about this man, but I do feel sorry for him for one simple reason: he's never going to live this one down. Jokes are funny until you become the butt of them.
