So he's on the hooker circuit now?! Who are you? Dan Rather? Since we're making stuff up, I heard that Hillary Clinton and Jon Stewart were selling WMDs to President Fox in Mexico while they were on spring break in Cancun shooting an episode of "Girls Gone Wild". Sheesh.

I'm glad you guys are having so much fun with this...and technically, Rush was in the wrong so I can't defend him. All in all, it's much ado about nothing. Viagra is legal, the prescription was legal, it's just a way for libs to poke fun at someone who is passionate about conservatism. And I don't blame you. He's been making you guys look silly for years now.

I am a rebulican that has no time for liberal politics, but Rush is a hate spewing jerk along with Sean Hannity. These guys spew hate just as much as the left but make millions doing it. They do not help the cause.

Oh I'm not defending him - just curious if you were there and saw him. You sounded like you knew for sure he was there. Just trying to get the "facts" as they are being reported you know.

Hey, you can hate Hannity and Limbaugh if you want. I barely listen to either of them. My original post on the subject was that I could not defend Rush. I just jumped into this one because it's funny how it went from viagra to hookers and everything else.

No flames from me if the debate keeps with facts instead of specualtion.

I've read most of the replies on this thread and it has me shaking my head. Even if you hate the man like most or all liberals do, you have to admit that this is much ado about nothing. I look at this as a privacy issue and it really isn't anyone's business. According to the news reports he's not in any trouble and a lot of this reporting was done to emabarrass him. Mission accomplished! He's not very popular with the liberal wing of the news or entertainment media. Infact, it probably borders on hate or pretty close to it. It is Viagra and it's Rush Limbaugh who's taking it and we know why he's taking it. That's more than I ever needed to know about his or anyone else's private life.


I have never seen anyone who can upset or P.O a liberal like he can, it's unreal. Usually a liberal will dismiss a critic of them and their politics and just ignore them, but not with Rush Limbaugh. I've seen it first hand and it proves to me that a lot of what he says has must hit pretty close to home and speak alot truth. You libs on this board can poke fun at me or flame away, but his ratings and popularity speak for themselves. Air America could only wish to have even a 1/4 his ratings. I don't care for his style or Ego too much and I only hear him once in awhile, but when I do he makes a lot of sense at times.

You can't have millions upon millions of listeners every year and still be popular after 18+ years in the radio business pushing a program no one listens to. Over 18 years in the radio business and still popular! His ratings, his book sales, and the revenue his show brings in, speaks volumes about his popularity. So for those of you that hate him, enjoy this small victory while you can. I heard he's already making light of it and poking fun at himself.

Well, I can only speak for myself but I did have a previous post in this thread stating that as long as he hasn't done anything illegal, it's nobody's business (and BTW, I don't like the posts poking fun at him. Call him a hypocrit or a gas filled wind bag, but please don't make up jokes based on "facts" not yet in evidence).

And nothing that man has ever said hits close to home for me, at least the few things I've heard him say. I really try not to listen to him, I don't like it when my ears bleed.

As for his ratings, well, Howard Stern is pretty popular and I can't figure that one out either!

Before I posted that, I Googled the topic and looked at several "anti-Rush" sites that were relishing Rush's supposed "hypocrisy" after his arrest. If there is any place to look for such quotes, it would have been these sites. The only quote I saw was the oft repeated one from 1995.

I'm sure I've seen more on Atrios, but could not find them. But I'm really getting at something more substantial. It doesn't need to be limited to drug use, but to any failing or legal violation, however minor. His general worldview is that personal weakness is not something that effects us all. He thinks it is trait unique to misfits and unworthiness who then congregate on the Left because they are unworthy of standing with those imbued with the superior personal virtue and discipline of the Right. He himself has now been overtaken by just the kind of weakness that he commonly characterizes and deviant trait that should be met with shunning, not empathy. He demands "justice" a la Shylock (no anti-Semitism intended), not mercy a la Portia. Now he wants mercy and prosecutorial discretion. The last thing he wants is to be treated as he would demand a political enemy be treated in similar circumstances

However, all of the talk about this being a crime is dependant on there being no doctor who will come forward to say he/she prescribed the medication. The local Sheriff referred what they found to the AG, but if Limbaugh can produce documentation that the drug was prescribed... then it's "game over" on the criminal front.
Viagra isn't a controlled substance, and as such it's doubtful that any laws were broken by the doctor simply handing Limbaugh the drug directly. If no doc can be found to say they prescribed it, then it's another issue.

Not sure I agree on two fronts. First, it must actually be Viagra. Second, and this is likely only applicable to narcotics, it is not simply a matter of valid prescriptions. He had valid prescriptions previously (and some in other names). What he agreed to in his settlement was not to doctor shop any longer and not to have overlapping prescriptions. I assume that only applies to narcotics and not Viagra. Though he may be addicted to that to get more in character for the show each day, I doubt that's covered.
