Going for a quick trip next week, and to get a nice run in as well as preview part of the 1/2 Ironman tri course, I want to run at WL/FW. I think there is a path between the two? Or do I run from WL to FW and get on the path there? (there may be a bit more info on the race course directions).

Also, while I'm running, I was going to leave my mom to explore WL and have breakfast...is Roaring Forks good, or should she do sit-down at Whispering Canyon? I'm guessing RF is cheaper.

Thanks!

There is a paved trail from FW to WL. You may even see deer along the trail.

I enjoy eating at Roaring Forks--I've not tried WCC yet but I'm sure RF is cheaper.

They have maps at the Front Desk of the jogging paths at WL and FW. Just ask and they should give you one.

I have one around here somewhere but I'm not sure how detailed it is.

Roaring Forks is pretty good for breakfast. They have a nice selection of typical breakfast food (breakfast platters with eggs, bacon, etc.) fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels and more.

Excellent!! Mom loves the Grand Canyon and the outdoors/western theming of WL will appeal to her, and she can have breakfast and shop while I run. Then we will hit the parks! She just told me today she might want to do Mission: Space, which is so awesome, 'cause she is not all that adventurous!

And floridafam, of course, I will have a run report to go along with my driving of the bike course. :)

Cheers!

DH is an ironman guy too. We stayed at the WL and he ran the trails at Fort Wilderness (map from guest services). He said he looked to his right and there was a peacock keeping pace with him. It should be a lovely run.

Roaring Forks is cheaper but their breakfast menu is limited. Whispering Canyon Cafe is nicer and has much more to choose from but "there ain't no whispering about it." It's a rip-roarin, rootin-tootin, LOUD good time. Just tell you mom not to ask for KETCHUP!!!!!!!

Thanks...I am looking forward to it...will get a nice training run in while I'm there next week, and can preview part of the Florida 1/2 IM course.
Which IM did your DH do? I did IM-Wisconsin in 2002...training for IM LP for this year.

P.S. IM NZ is going on now...keeping my fingers crossed that my coach has a good performance!!

floridafam...
If, by chance, you or your DH look at the IMNZ results (pros should be finished by 10 pm cst), or even have any updates, esp. on Andrea Fisher, please let me know...I can't get the web coverage on my computer!!
(you can pm me...since this is getting off topic, but I wanted to post this here, so you would see it)

Thanks!
