Run Now! It’s Wine 0’Clock in WDW…Cupcakes Gone W&D16

Whet Your Appetite Wednesday: Morocco
Pre Planning Our Eat & Drink Around the World Crawl

(or by the end of the night teetering and rolling around the world)

Trying to find ways to pass the next 182 days, so Wednesday is going to be officially called “Whet Your Appetite Wednesday” because Cupcakes like eating and most of this trip will be focused around Food & Wine (and yes running). Since the menus for F&W are not available for 2016 until the midSpring and we have pretty much covered favorite dining experiences and foods from around WDW…let’s start pre-planning some our Post Race Sunday Eat & Drink Crawl Around the World (information, rules and requirements later) by circling the World Showcase in search of the best snacks…

I totally want to stop and savor something in Morocco, something that I have never done. I have stopped and savored the beautiful architecture and environment created at this pavilion, breathtaking. Probably the closest I will ever get…

Food & Wine Booth
To eat:
–Kefta pocket: Ground seasoned beef in a pita pocket
–Harissa chicken roll
–Baklava

Juice Bar

Here are my selections to share (or not)…

Vegetable Platter

menu_item_image_46.jpg
Falafel, tangierine couscous salad, hummus, tabouleh, lentil salad and marinated olives

This totally looks like an adventure on a plate! Tweedle Bossy is always raving about the food here and I can see why from the picture!

Honey Walnut Baklava

menu_item_image_711.jpg

Gotta have dessert, right? It is kind of like having to have a drink in each country! And who can pass up the sticky layered goodness of baklava!

What looks good for a snack for you? Sweet or savory it does not matter.

I've never eaten anything in Morocco so maybe the Baklava? I'm not as adventurous as I should be with food.

Blech. I've never liked anything I've tried food wise at the Morocco Booth - I'll go next door during the festival and get goodies from Belgium/Brazil.

A lot of Middle Eastern food is similar (with small local variations), and I eat a decent amount of Israeli food, so this shouldn't be hard for me.
First we have to eliminate everything with falafel, because I don't like falafel.
I don't like chumus (aka hummus) or techina (aka tahini), so anything with those two I'll have to get modified.
Yeah ... now I know why my mom rolls her eyes at me when I say I'm not a picky eater.

I honestly think my best bet is just a side dish. I'll probably still be full from my dinner a few stops ago in America, so that's probably all I'll want anyway. Theoretically I like tabouleh a lot, but it's sometimes made with mint, which I don't eat. So ... I'm gonna go with the tangerine couscous salad. I'm a big couscous fan.
And I'm with you on the dessert - gotta try the baklava!

Way to go!!! I am just about to purchase my next $100 Disney GC on my way home from work. It is just so nice to get this "free" money! It makes the trips less painful on the family wallet. SB has been a bit of a pain for me and I haven't always been meeting my first goal because I just can't focus at work. Oh well, I am still earning enough to make me happy :). You keep me motivated!

Tweedle Bossy & Tweedle Confused BOTH love Morocco food. YUMMY!!! :) I just ate it a few days ago................

So ADRS were on Sunday...Debra and I split them up and we were able to snag everyone that we wanted in the time frame we wanted!

Here is what we ended up with...

Slide1.JPG

Have to have my celebration dinner with a view!

Slide2.JPG
Actually we decided at the last minute against Kona after reading several more bad reviews of the Tonga Toast. Instead we are going to try out Grand Floridian Café with the hopes of axing that ADR for the Parisian Breakfast or Lunch should that happen this year during F&W and fit in our schedule in GF Café place! I am really hoping that it does!

Slide3.JPG

Did you really think we would pass on the Cute Italian boys..although I really do not believe that carb loading is an actual thing!

Slide4.JPG

Gotta have Mickey and the gang sign our medals...and get pictures in the chef outfits!

Slide5.JPG

A Debra favorite...can't wait to try it out myself and visit the new Disney Spring!

Slide6.JPG

Another Debra favorite...

slide7.jpg

Must get me some of that Grey stuff...

slide8.jpg

Someplace new for all of us...and looking for a good meal prior to running!

It’s 5 O’clock Friday
in Morocco

ONLY 26 MORE FRIDAYS!

In order to pass the time away, instead of Cupcake Friday’s we are going to take a look at cocktails around the world…since we are partly fueled by cocktails. Maybe we can find them a little more readily then the cupcake disappointment we experienced on our PHM Cupcake Crawl! Following in line with Whet your Appetite Wednesday, let’s begin to focus on F&W and our Eat & Drink Crawl around the World that we are planning for Sunday after the race (Rules and Logistics to come later).

I find it very interesting that a country not exactly known for its alcoholic offerings really shows up to the Epcot party with a full-service bar and cocktail list, considering how Disney respects the culture with the lighting (or non-lighting) each evening during.

1_epcot_morocco_2010.jpg

Fun Fact…

The Morocco pavilion isn’t lit because the main building in the area is actually a replica of the Katoubia Minaret, a prayer tower from Marrakesh. It has important religious significance; to light it during Illuminations would be perceived as demeaning. If you’ll notice, Disney also chose to not light the main building in Norway, helping to add some symmetry to the presentation.

So bartender...

Pour me somethin' tall an' strong;
Make it a Sultan’s Colada

It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.

c3a3870094df38d59fa4779a9e3e3a50.jpg

Lot of fancy little drinks to be found (as well as lots of boozed up coffee for Kafi). So looking over the list I find one that I am instantly drawn to, first because of the same…how Moroccan and exotic sounding is a drink Sultan's Colada. Then if you look over the ingredients one of them jumped out instantly…ALMOND LIQUER (aka my favorite Amaretto) so you instantly know what am having…oh yes there is - Rum, pineapple/coconut juice also in this frozen concoction.

Now since we are over half way through our trip drinking around the world…let’s hope we don’t see this lady or I have a feeling we might end up in the show with her…

I made my first $25 with Perk this morning! Ha, you keep me motivated to earn this money! I have really been in a funk the last few weeks and it has been becoming more of a chore than a fun challenge! Great job on your next $100!!!! SB has been a major pain, yesterday for the first time in I am not sure when I thought I would not make it to my 1st goal and it had me stressed. Then at the last minute last night I pulled off 2 surveys!

Morocco...think I will go with some baklava & try the Kefta Pocket

Baklava...yum-o

Tweedle Bossy & Tweedle Confused BOTH love Morocco food. YUMMY!!! :) I just ate it a few days ago................

Jealous...and I am really going to stop and try Morocco this trip!

Dang it so close!

Bad sake experience...has to be a story behind this!

Let's just say it involved a work trip when I worked in PR for a while and co-workers talking me into Sake at dinner followed by Cosmos or something. It was not a pretty thing.

Is Amy coming now? That's so awesome! I didn't think she was!!! Yhea!!!!!! :jumping1:

I was wondering that too! :)

I love Morocco! Tangeriene Cafe is my favorite!

Hmm ... I'm kinda torn between the Habibi Daiquiri and Tangierine Daiquiri.
Either way, I'm going with something daiquiri. I am a daquiri fan ... always have been. And by that I mean I have some vague recollection of having daquiris at some point in my childhood ... I'm guessing it was a non-alcoholic version though.

At first I thought I wanted to get

Croissant aux escargots

imagesEA5M1NEN.jpg

This is the way the dish looked a few years ago when I tried it. I loved the dish and even got Cammy to try (mind you in the dark). Just a right amount as not to be overwhelmed with the reality of what your eating. It had an awesome buttery garlic flavor, but now it looks like this…

1.jpg

And I am not sure that I am down with huge chunks of snails with that green stuff. So maybe I could combine the best of 2 worlds, ice cream (and in my case it must be hazelnut) and the French Macaron...

thumb_600.jpg

I also found this interesting pastry on the menu, the Frangipane

Frangipane-Cross-Section-Les-Halles.jpg

almond filling between puff pastry. Yum another almond dessert…how do I chose between hazelnut and almonds? Ugh the struggle is real!

What looks good for a snack for you? Sweet or savory it does not matter.

I love French Food!

I'm going to eat entirely too much there...like maybe:
