Whet Your Appetite Wednesday: England (and her offspring)
Pre Planning Our Eat & Drink Around the World Crawl

(or by the end of the night teetering and rolling around the world)

Epcot-International-Flower-and-Garden-Festival_Full_12882.jpg

Trying to find ways to pass the next 167 days, so Wednesday is going to be officially called “Whet Your Appetite Wednesday” because Cupcakes like eating and most of this trip will be focused around Food & Wine (and yes running). Since the menus for F&W are not available for 2016 until the midSpring and we have pretty much covered favorite dining experiences and foods from around WDW…let’s start pre-planning some our Post Race Sunday Eat & Drink Crawl Around the World (information, rules and requirements later) by circling the World Showcase in search of the best snacks…

anglphile.jpg

I am self-proclaimed Anglophile! And I come by it naturally all of my family tree on my maternal side of the tree come from the British Isles, Scots on my grandfathers side and English on my grandmother’s side…completely traced back to colonization with the English (we were Tories in the Revolutionary War and actually meant it when we said we would move to Canada, unlike the Hollywood celebrities who threaten it each election season). My temper comes from the Scot side…But all things aside give me a cottage in the English countryside, Jane Austen in my hand and Colin Firth staring back at me from across the table…

colin.jpg

Since England does not have a booth, let’s lump all the territories together…

Yorkshire County Fish Shop

Normally the first thing I would go for is…

Yorkshire-County-Fish-Shop-Fish-and-Chips-Epcot-2.jpg

But since Debra twisted my arm and we are headed to Raglan Road, I will bypass the Fish & Chips in Epcot. Rest assured that my favorite British dish will be eaten!

If the rule is 1 thing in each country, here is my choices...

Australia is going to have to be the lamb chop. Just for adventure sake and trying to live up to the Foodie status that I want to be!

Grilled-Lamb-Chop-Australia-Booth-2012-Epcot-Food-and-Wine-Festival.jpg

In Ireland, I already buy the Kerrygold cheeses so I will pass and move on to the warm chocolate pudding which I won’t have to share because Debra does not do chocolate cake (Yay more for me).

thumb_600.jpg

New Zealand will give me another chance to exercise foodie status with the mussels

4686774bbcb82042805d27226746c0f6.jpg

And since I have already had Haggis and do not really care to repeat that adventure…I thing it would be fitting to have the The Tipsy Laird, since we might as well eat our present physical status in Scotland.

What are you having?

Ooooo Kitchen Sink is so much fun!

We have been watching videos of the adventure and it does look like a lot of fun...and a lot of aching tummies!

Kitchen Sink ... that's pretty ambitious, but I think the cupcakes are up to the challenge!

Yep...us cupcakes like talk big BEFORE...but following us in our TR you find we are a lot of talk...

Joining in!

The kitchen sink would be such a fun challenge to tackle! Not to mention a great reward for the Half.
:thumbsup2

:welcome:

So glad that you are joining in on our craziness! You are right this would be a great reward for the half...sadly it will be BEFORE the half a few days. Not sure that it would be the greatest running fuel. LOL

Now I really want one of those adultl milkshakes!

BLAME IT ON DEBRA!

Ice Cream and Alcohol do not mix well for me anymore.

It makes me sad :(

That makes me sad too...although I am not sure when I have had a drink with alcohol in it!!!:eek::eek:

Hmm ... if I have to pick one in every country...
Australia - Lamington: Yellow cake dipped in chocolate and shredded coconut
Ireland - Warm chocolate pudding with Kerrygold Irish Cream Liqueur Custard
New Zealand - Lamb meatball with spicy tomato chutney
Scotland - The Tipsy Laird: Whiskey-soaked cake with lemon cream and toasted oats

Apparently England is going to be 75% desserts for me...

:worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:

I had this every time that I snacked around the world last year. It was THAT good. Brace yourself for how addicting this will be.

Australia - Grilled lamb chop with mint pesto and potato crunchies

Ireland - Lobster and seafood fisherman’s pie

New Zealand - Seared venison loin with wild mushroom marsala sauce and kumara dumpling (although the mussels look good too)

Scotland - Seared sea scallop with spinach-cheddar gratin and crispy bacon OR Tipsy Laird

IRELAND: I LOVED the warm chocolate pudding last year and would like a repeat performance. Nom nom nom! (Although my husband really liked the lobster and seafood Fisherman's pie! And I'm still bitter they don't serve Magners (aka Bulmers in Ireland) at the Ireland booth. They do serve it at Raglan Road and it is my favorite thing ever!

NEW ZEALAND: The lamb meatball was divine! It might be the only thing we had twice last year. It was SOOOOOOO good! Sign me up again this year!

AUSTRALIA: Probably the lamb chop.

SCOTLAND: The Tipsy Laird would probably be my choice. DH had the scallops last year and liked them.

It’s 5 O’clock Friday
in England (and her territories)
ONLY 24 MORE FRIDAYS

funny2.jpg

In order to pass the time away, instead of Cupcake Friday’s we are going to take a look at cocktails around the world…since we are partly fueled by cocktails. Maybe we can find them a little more readily then the cupcake disappointment we experienced on our PHM Cupcake Crawl! Following in line with Whet your Appetite Wednesday, let’s begin to focus on F&W and our Eat & Drink Crawl around the World that we are planning for Sunday after the race (Rules and Logistics to come later).

So if I am nibbling away in England (and its offspring) with Colin, I am drinking my way around this area with...

killian.jpg

It has been awhile since Killian has entered this trip report. I certainly think this man could seriously show us more than a little rum in this portion of F&W.

Okay…one picture was not enough! Sigh!

So bartender

Pour me somethin' tall an' strong;
Make it a HERE LET ME HAND YOU MY LIST

It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere…
And there is so little time!

The rule is 1 drink in each country or food booth (this might be hard since I am not a beer person) but lets see if I can make a list. Our first stop will be in England where it we certainly have to go inside to the pub and take in the atmosphere with a

fb33c919912836a51f9c60b318473412.jpg

Magners Pear Cider…technically it is from Ireland but I am drinking it in a British pub so I am going with that (only because there something I really want to drink at the Ireland booth and I am not finding anything on the R&C menu I really want). Our stops in New Zealand & Australia will be for an underdetermined at this time glass of wine. In Ireland,

2015-Epcot-Food-and-Wine-Festival-Ireland-Booth-Kerrygold-Irish-Cream-Liqueur-1-453x600.jpg

Kerrygold® Irish Cream Liqueur! Can you say smooth shot! While in Scotland, maybe Gretchen will be up to trying out the Scotch flight…hey remember I am Scot…maybe its time I learn to drink Scotch and with her red hair she has to have some Scot in her too…you gotta be BRAVE...

scotland-flight-600x258.jpg

If not I think I will try the Citrus Thistle, although I have a hard time thinking Scotland and Citrus and to me Gin tastes like a pine tree smells. Not that I have ever eaten a pine tree.

thisle.jpg

What are you having?

Fish and chips please!

And maybe that warm chocolate pudding...

I like you thinking Ryan!

Hmm ... if I have to pick one in every country...

I almost picked lots of desserts...but too much sugar and alcohol might not be a good thing...need more protein!

:worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:

I had this every time that I snacked around the world last year. It was THAT good. Brace yourself for how addicting this will be.

NOW I AM EVEN MORE EXCITED

Australia - Grilled lamb chop with mint pesto and potato crunchies

Ireland - Lobster and seafood fisherman’s pie

New Zealand - Seared venison loin with wild mushroom marsala sauce and kumara dumpling (although the mussels look good too)

Scotland - Seared sea scallop with spinach-cheddar gratin and crispy bacon OR Tipsy Laird

We are going to be so good at balancing each other out!

Now I know what to try at Raglan Road!

The scallops do look yummy!

While in Scotland, maybe Gretchen will be up to trying out the Scotch flight…hey remember I am Scot…maybe its time I learn to drink Scotch and with her red hair she has to have some Scot in her too…you gotta be BRAVE...

Well, I am failing my Scottish heritage and my merida looks by not liking Scotch. If some of us shared a flight I would try it, but it's not really my thing. And actuallly, my grandma (born in Dundee, Scotland) must have picked up her mom's Irish side of the family's love of whiskey because she and Jameson got along great! ;)

And at Raglan Road get the Magners. It's the original stuff (not the pear they have in Englad at Rose & Crown) and it is SOOOOO good! It's what I used to drink when I lived in Dublin. (And what I order at any "real" Irish pub!)

Australia - maybe the Shiraz (depends what wine I am in mood for there)

Ireland - Kerrygold Irish cream liquor

Scotland - definitely NOT scotch!!! And I cant stand gin either, so...one of the 2 beers it will be

New Zealand - probably the Pinot Gris

Mmm..

I love those booths!
