RUN, EAT, DRINK, REPEAT- Wine and Dine Weekend 2016 Report (New 1/2 x2)

Disney Wine and Dine 10k part 2

Our next character stop was in Morocco (I believe) for Tourist Genie!

We’ve never met him before so this was exciting! We kept running (possibly skipping a character in France) and got out onto the Boardwalk where we passed Chip and Dale out at ESPN. We’ve got a great picture with them from the marathon so we kept running.

The Boardwalk was also the location of the mile 5 marker. We waved hi to the Beach Club as we ran by!

On our way back into Epcot we got a few more funny running pictures:

And we saw Sebastian out so we grabbed a picture with him:

No photopass picture but that’s okay. He told us Dole Whips were the only thing worth going on land for! There weren’t many photo stops (if any) after him so we cruised along…

To mile 6…

..and to the finish line! It was still dark out when we finished which was sort of cool because we’ve never managed that before (thanks daylight savings time!)

Overall, another fun race! Not much variety in Disney’s 10k course from weekend to weekend but I like what they have (and I’m not sick of it yet) so you won’t hear me complaining. We were pleased with our race and couldn’t help but love these medals!!

Seriously, this guy is bigger than the marathon medal we got in 2015!

We hopped in line for the bus back to the resort. While we waited Caitlin indulged in the breakfast of champions…

Oreos!

Thanks for joining in! I am in the marathon- only a week and change away! It's been up in the air whether I'd be running alone or not. Caitlin had a serious horseback riding accident back in August and though thankfully she's fine, that was a serious running derailment. Right after Wine and Dine she injured her foot so she's had nothing but trouble trying to get to the marathon. We've decided that we will be at the start line together (and will hopefully make it to the finish line together too!)

So sorry to hear that Caitlin had the horseback accident and then the foot injury. 2016 has really been a yucky year! How great that you and Caitlin will start together! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you finish that way also!

Your pictures are great and looks like so much fun! And who can't resist two lovely dole whips!

Love the shirts! Who doesn't want to run as a dole whip lol.

You guys got some great on course photos too! I skipped vacation genie during the half in January and I regretted it ever since. If he's out I'm meeting him this time.

I love that 10K medal! And who doesn't love Oreos for breakfast.

I am loving both the favorite color and dole whip shirts! It looks like your sister and you had a great 10K race! What great pictures...and I have to admit the oreo is the first thing out of my box too!

I'm really so proud of how positive and realistic she's been about the marathon. We'll start and see how it goes! She's taking the attitude that she'll just go as far as she can and whatever happens will happen.

I feel like Vacation Genie been out for a lot of recent races so hopefully you'll have ample opportunity this coming weekend to grab a picture! I think last year he was on the marathon course near the Boardwalk/International Gateway area.

The oreo was a nice treat in the food box- I don't remember if it's always had that in the past. My first grab is the chips and dip :)

Breakfast... Interrupted

We cleaned up and got on a boat to head to Hollywood Studios.

It was a beautiful day out! Once we got there first order of business was to hit Starbucks for breakfast. We got drinks and split a cupcake (sticking with that breakfast of champions theme.) As we ate on the patio the First Order marched by!

Once we finished up it was time for our first FastPass of the day…

31939019651_9d0b439838_c.jpg

That’s right- Toy Story! I wish I could remember what the standby wait had been out of interest (with the third track) but the FastPass wait was probably about 20 to 25 minutes.

Caitlin usually wins but I finally beat her! And I was best in vehicle- woooooo! (Okay, I’m not gonna lie- I think we were the only people in the car for some reason. Whatever, I’ll take it!)

I apparently got a little lazy with the picture taking at this point but we hit our FastPass for Star Tours (always one of Caitlin’s favorites.) We hadn’t seen in Indiana Jones Stunt Show in awhile so we got seats for this next. As much as we screamed and yelled we didn’t get picked to be extras. Nevertheless I really enjoyed the show. The opening scene never fails to remind me of the Full House Disney episode where it’s Steve running from the bolder!

We had a little time before our next FastPass at Tower of Terror so we decided to get in line for the 25 minute wait to meet Olaf. While we waited we chatted with a mom and daughter in front of us about runDisney. The daughter was young but her mom said she was already really excited to run a Disney 5k and earn a medal of her own one day! Talking to them made the time go by fast- next thing we knew it was our turn!

I don’t recall much interaction but the pictures are cute so I don’t really care, haha! Next we trekked to Tower of Terror. On the way we decided to stop for pictures on Sunset Boulevard.

Painfully squinty as we were looking right into the sun! We hopped in line for Tower of Terror.

I love this queue so much. So many details inside and the outside landscaping is beautiful!

32017835266_4325938916_c.jpg

Always a fun ride! Plus, we almost always get to cut the line because this is such a popular ride for them to need a party of 2 to fill the car (though it didn’t happen to us this time.) It was after 1 PM and we were hungry- time to get another snack!

We sat in the shade and enjoyed our pretzel and lemonade for a few minutes while considering the rest of our day. We were supposed to go over to Animal Kingdom but it was getting late and we weren’t going to have very much time in the park by the time we left Hollywood Studios and got over there. Plus, the app said wait times were long. At this point we decided to scrap AK and opt for some dinner plans instead. We got a 5:20 reservation for Captain’s Grille which was perfect. Now we could dress up a little (which we always enjoy) and sit down and enjoy a good meal to fuel up for the half tomorrow.

Dinner...well enjoyed

We left the park and made way for the boat back to the resort. The line was the boat was super long so we decided to get some photopass pictures seeing as we were going to need to wait for another boat anyways.

31215734684_5e03debc88_c.jpg

We got on the boat and went back to the Beach Club to once again hit Stormalong Bay- we tried to get as much pool use in as possible while we were paying the money to enjoy it!

We cleaned up and dressed up before walking over to the Yacht Club and checking in at Captain’s Grille. We sat for a few minutes in the lobby and relaxed on the couches.

They called us in pretty quickly and sat us. The restaurant was fairly quiet which was kind of nice. Our server Victor was over quickly to drop off menus. He was awesome! I was disappointed that Disney doesn’t do the paper cast comment cards anymore but I made sure to leave a detailed comment about him in the survey we were sent and I’m hoping it made it back to him.

Victor gave us a whole run down on his favorite things on the menu and sold us on trying the Gnocchi for a starter after we order some beers.

31246815573_2f6a15a609_c.jpg

The Gnocchi were great! Victor said these were fairly new to the menu and were a change from the previous potato-cheese version. These are so new that as I write I actually can’t find an updated menu online with their name (though the Disney site is down and I’m sure it’s correct on there.)

31215730254_a1f6c6d60f_c.jpg

For dinner we both ordered the vegetarian dish which was a chickpea dish with steamed vegetables. Again- this was a recent change to the menu (replacing the Chef’s Vegetarian Inspiration) but I can’t find the actual name. Regardless, it was delicious!

As we finished up at dinner I found the early wake up call catching up to me quick! We made our way back to the room to get set up for the half marathon in the morning. Once everything was laid out we went to the beach to park it in a chair and enjoy the Star Wars fireworks over the Boardwalk.

Even though I was tired this was totally worth it! No music but a great view and it was a nice night to sit outside. Perfect way to end the night before getting to bed to get ready for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon in the morning!

Following along! Seems like y'all had a great start to your trip. I've always wanted to do a Disney race (if I actually ran that is:laughing:). Can't wait to read more!

Love your trip report! My DH and I just signed up to do Lumiere's Challenge this year so I'm trying to read as much as I can about it. All those treats at F & W look yummy! Can't wait to hear more :-)

Fantastic report so far! It's awesome that you got to do this with your sister! I definitely saw you two in the corrals-which is kind of neat. Beach Club is my favorite resort, but as I went solo to W&D I couldn't justify the cost, sounds like I actually had better bussing out of POFQ-go figure!

Love the Storm Troopers interrupting the Starbucks! I must try Captains Grill it looks very yummy!
