Rumors that Disney is in negotiations to sell Star Wars back to George Lucas!

Trevorrow had him nearly killing Rey before Leia intervenes via the force and convinces him to come back to the light.
I'd love to see at least an animated version of his Duel of the Fates movie and compare it what I remember from Rise, as I never plan to watch that again.

Correct also, which would have helped Rey's likability a lot. Also, it would have went a long way to convince people Kylo wasn't the weak dollar store version of Darth Vader that he ended up being.

She would have had an actual character arc and somewhat of a hero's journey that way. It would have been her equivalent of getting her hand cut off, and needing to be saved by your friends. That needed to happen in the middle of the trilogy so you could see growth in Rey. Being venerable is identifiable to normal people, being a near perfect swordfighter the day you pick a lightsaber is not. As she was written she had everything needed the first second we saw her on screen to be the best hero the galaxy ever saw, with zero growth required. People identify with characters that have growth during films, she had very little. She was just perfection from day one.

Disney likely knew this, and this is why they quickly shoehorned in her dying and being revived in the final movie. It ended up feeling forced and simply a response to people hating that she was too perfect. Like you know they are right about her being too good at everything, so let's kill her and bring her right back to show them that she actually can get hurt.

I really hope they bring the Beyonder to the MCU. We need an early 70s Elvis clone.

This thread is like a freaky circle. Just when we think we've shifted topics....
I've lost track of whether this thread is about SW or MCU. But when it comes to great 70s heroes, my vote goes to the disco roller skating hero, Dazzler!

Sigh. He gave his life for his sister and for the Rebellion to live on.

That's a bit of a stretch, since Rey was the hero in that scene.

Luke's entire contribution against the rebellion in the 3 Movie Trilogy was a less than 5 minute "hey look over here" which indeed killed him (in the middle movie-never getting off a deserted island), while the remaining crew of the last ship (not blown out of space during the slow motion chase-again folks that could have used some help instead of dying) somehow finally realized "hey I think he's stalling" so maybe we should walk away from the front line of fire, towards the back of this cave?

Why didn't Luke just say "hey dummy's, go out the back while I go out front".

Better yet, why didn't they immediately start going out the back, or at least looking into it until then?

Regardless, Rey lifts a thousand boulders out of the way, and has the ship ready to take them away.

Both things can be true at once.

Rey is the hero of every single scene in the entire trilogy, so I guess why would this scene be any different?

One of my favorite moments in the movie. Also, "The Spark" is one of John Williams' best pieces. I could listen to it on loop for hours.

Yeah, and I don't understand how it is that Luke doesn't come off like THE MAN in that scene. He totally does!
