Rumors that Disney is in negotiations to sell Star Wars back to George Lucas!

Luke came from a twinkle in the Chosen Ones eye, his abilities make sense. Remember according to Rian, Rey was a nobody. JJ changed that, because everyone knew we had to explain Rey being so incredible with the force. Basically the single most powerful force user ever, making Vader look like a weakling.

Based on the fact that Lucasfilms has been scared to death to put a Star Wars movie out in 5+ years seems to suggest a lot of people had a lot of issues with the last two movies.

To be fair, they were a little busy making 40+ hours of streaming shows during part of those 5 years.

Do you have a link to ratings showing that these were flops?
Can be hard to find streamed minutes data, by design by the way.

I believe book of Boba was viewed at about 1/2 as much as Mando season 2. Obi-wan was about the same. Andor has went down even further.

Yes they always found force sensitive kids with random parents. They never once found one that the first day the heard about the force was able to master complex force techniques. He was trying to explain how this girl born to nobodies was all of a sudden the most powerful force user the galaxy had ever seen, with essentially no training.
You do realize there were like 3 force trained users right? The pool isn't exactly big.

By all means tho, keep going on about how Luke is so very special because of genetics.

But by almost all objective measures as a story, Empire is the best film in the series. Part of the reason why is that Lucas let a lot of very talented people run with their strengths on that film. Larry Kasdan & Leigh Brackett wrote it, Irvin Kershner directed it, and Paul Hirsh edited it. Lucas executive produced and consulted when asked, but didn't micromanage it, and that was what made it better than the original.

Lucas' strength is as a big-picture idea guy; he has always been better off leaving dialogue and the filmmaking technicalities to others.
Well sure but at the time some didn’t want that. They wanted the same light feeling that the first one had. Honestly, as a kid, it was boring to me outside of the Hoth battle and lightsaber part at the end. Jedi was everything to me. As I got older, it switched places.

Didn't say that. Luke had incredible genetics for force sensitivity, yes. He also had extensive training. He also got knocked down and got up again several times, learning in his failures as well. He was also an extensive student of the past teachings of the Jedi. He was always being molded and guided by those around him (Obi Wan, Yoda, Anakin) into to the Master Jedi he became.

Rey surpasses Luke easily with essentially no training and came from nobodies according to Rian Johnson. It just didn't make sense, which is why Disney told JJ to "Fix it". Disney knew it didn't make sense either, or they would not have had JJ change course so drastically.

I can see that. For me, I just never grew up! 😁

Can we lock this thread? Also, some of you (Poly) need to go read some of the Star Wars books. I get so tired of people thinking all Force users need to be related to a Skywalker or someone who had could tap into the Force. There's no basis on this at all.

But, what did Rey really do with the force with no training at all? She mind-tricked a storm trooper and pulled a lightsaber to her. All the fighting and stuff, it was established that she already knew all that to survive on Jakku - though she was more adept with a staff. Luke didn't know how to fight, though he was handy with a blaster.

We are talking about the movies and other Disney+ content here. If you have to go read some book that may or may not even be considered cannon by Disney, they have failed at story telling. For example which books? Because the entire sequel era was written about but Disney de-cannonized all of those books and did their own thing. Lucas also outlined the entire sequels out, but Disney didn't use that either. So which is it? The books and prior source material is cannon or not?

Why do you want this thread locked? Because someone post something you don't agree with? What's wrong with healthy discussion about Star Wars, a topic many are passionate about?

But it's clear in the movies that force sensitive kids don't have to come from force sensitive parents - it's more exemplified in the Prequels. Where do you think all those Jedi come from?

Obviously all the little kids at the end are a product of Luke's adventures thru the galaxy. :rotfl:

Was really looking for something more than "beliefs", not that it isn't true, but I would like to see the source.

Correct I agree, and what are all those force sensitive kids sent to. Oh that's right, extensive training in a Jedi Academy to improve their skills.
