Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

You haven't seen the show. You can't say it's a failure or disappointment without seeing it. Yes it's late yes it's disappointing that it's late but it's not a failure yet. Test track had the same issues but it's fine today.
Well, that's the beauty of the lounge...we can all calmly state our opinions, and right, wrong, or somewhere in the ballpark, no one is going to jump on us.

Maybe this monster will eventually be worth the time and effort of seeing it, but I can personally say that for the near future, I won't make much of an attempt. Partly because I feel my chain has been jerked a few too many times - yes, it's my own fault for all the hoping/watching/anticipating, but the scar is now deep.

I do want to see the evening safari and the Tree awakening, and for sure head off to Disney Springs (never thought I say that!!) to see the drones....6 days and counting for us, then not again until late next fall...

My first thought was :O you can't say that to @HopperFan ! He knows his stuff!

And then I saw it was @rteetz speaking. And you know your stuff too. Maybe this will be the epic battle to go down in DIS history!

It really doesn't matter what any of us say or anyone over at the "other place" say, who are the source for some posters. Even they have admitted they don't really know.

NO ONE KNOWS. Disney has created a monster and they have shut down the leaks. Everyone is guessing. We can create a huge long list of all the posts of time frames offered, come and gone ... wrong.

It's like craps, if you keep covering all the squares or dates, you'll eventually win. Doesn't mean you are a better player. Just means you want to win no matter what it cost.

THIS is a community board thread where we are having fun with one of WDW's biggest disasters. Many of us unfortunately planned trips to see when promised by Disney ... we bonded, we are now Loungers, having fun, talking about what has happened and what it may mean ... because no further info has come from Disney.

I'm just playing with game pieces and having fun, no winners. I've been hanging around WDW for 45+ years and here, what 13 years ... it's all for fun and enjoyment. No battle here in the Lounge, the Lounge is for peace, love and chillin' - :hippie: I'll leave the battling for the RUMORS playground.

I'm all about the Lounging, as I type I'm sitting in a distillery where they give free samples! CHEERS!!! :drinking1

Tree Awakening is cool and well done. I wished I had allotted more time there instead of JBA to see a few.

Night Safari mixed feelings. IF you can get right at sunset for the special fake sunset might be cool, we just missed it. Loved the hyenas and lions awake but otherwise felt intrusive on their off time.

Read up in viewing of drones, apparently lots of angles don't get the visual effect on more flat stuff like birds... I think most say go by the food trucks.

Thanks for the drone viewing tip...my buddy and I are going to try to do the balloon, then sit and wait for the drones...maybe with a nice beverage, or food from a truck!

Tree awakenings took my breath away. It was just beautiful. I didn't expect it to be that good, but it was. :flower3:
Night safari? That's a one and done for me. Too much of the driver repeatedly telling us "Look over there, you might not be able to see xyz animal, but they are there."o_O Driver was right. It was dark. We really couldn't see anything.

Is this the first to actually come from Disney since they announced it would not be opening 7 mos ago?

I think they have hit a milestone here.

The question now is what version of the show will be presented. Other persons in other places have said their sources say some things still are not working as planned. NOW I am not claiming to know anything just sharing information that would seem highly likely given where we are at, the lack of talking up the show at Destination D and zero marketing for "an upcoming spectacular".

Good luck to those with upcoming trips hoping to see it. :goodvibes

Positivity!!!!

ugh...our AK afternoon is Dec 1...we planned to hold the evening open, just in case, but when ROL really wasn't happening, we decided to do our FPs in the late afternoon, then head down to DS to do the Drone show....now I'll have to try to stay flexible, but if there aren't any Fp for ROL and it does open, I'm thinking we'll pass on it until the next trip.sheesh...the fun never stops, eh??? :rotfl:

Mary Elizabeth‏ @maryelizabethf

I've been working on this show for the past 7 months. Y'all better like it.

Hope it's everything we have been waiting for!!!! YAY!! Also hoping for a chance to see it next week....:banana::banana::banana:

Well proof positive of CM preview, and hoping it comes with better reviews than their last one in the spring .... and the words from the last one ... pretty, enjoyable, cute animals .....

I think it's one of those go in with low expectations and hopefully it will be MUCH better than that. Good luck!!

This might be a silly question, but are people allowed film at CM previews? Will the full length show likely be uploaded to youtube this time next week?
