Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Alright my Lovely Little Lounger friends, I have another :offtopic: question for anyone who can answer it. (This is what happens when the last time you stayed on property you were 12 and had no control or say about anything. You find yourself 31 with what feel like very silly/dumb questions! lol) ANYwhoo.... my question is this: shipping from parks to resort. I know the few threads I've seen on here and FAQ I've read on the WDW site say to give 2-2.5 -ish days for things to be ready for pick up at the resort. What I'm wondering is if anyone has first hand experience that could confirm or refute that? My specific situation is that I set aside some tax return money so I can *really* have fun shopping. I do most of my shopping in the E:WS. I don't want to lug around heavy and or breakable things while trying to enjoy F&G. Most of my WS time will be spent on a Friday evening, I then check out of CBR on Sunday. Do you think my purchases would make it to CBR by Saturday? Or at least before check-out (we're asking for as late as they'll let us have) on Sunday?? Or is that just asking for disappointment???
I do this all the time and my parcel is always there the next day. The only time I wasn't able to use package delivery was the day before I check out. On that day I just had package go to front of park. Don't forget that option...but to answer your question...I've always had delivery the next day by noon.

I've been wondering the same thing. How do we know what time the "night safari" is? I assume it's going to be different than daytime with the simulated sunsets etc...so what time does it become "night safari"

I THINK I remember an answer on DPB that said it wouldn't change names -- that it would transition after sunset. Like magic. ;)

I remember that because I joked about having to add a "sunset time" line to my WDW spreadsheet.

And then I in fact DID add that line... (Excel geeks unite!) :D

Awesome. Thank you Marlyn!

In my experience if it is early in the day it will be the next day after lunch. Later evening you run into maybe being the day after next. If you are worried you can always have them sent to the front of the park as long as you are staying a while and pick them up on your way out. We have done this a lot when Epcot fell as our last day!

They may not even allow you to ship to resort on Friday if you are leaving on Sunday. But you can always ask. It's never a guarantee that items will be delivered on time - I've been both pleasantly surprised, and disappointed. I've even had items that NEVER appeared within the whole of our vacation, and they refunded our purchase.

I just traded ROL pin to one of the jawas - explained what it was, etc. He (she?) Got so excited, started hopping up and down! Thought y'all would want to know!

Scored an awesomely cheesy Minnie bracelet! Also, Chewie and Kylo Ren both awesome - Chewie was a big highlight!
That is one of the best and funniest things ever on this thread!!!

Isn't there something about they'll only send to the front of the park if it's x amount of time before closing?

Last May we had some items sent to the Dolphin. Late afternoon mouse ears from MK arrived two days later. That night of shopping in Downtown Disney arrived two afternoons later. So 48 hours from MK and 36 From Downtown. We had to pick them up in the hotel gift shop, with ID and sign for them. The Dolphin is not technically a Disney property so our experience may be a little different.

Wow - I feel for you all having to stake out FP again. That's the only thing I am glad about this situation with the delay - that I do not have to do that anymore. Hopefully they will have them ready soon

:offtopic: Today is my 50th :bday: and my coworkers didn't do a cake or invite me to lunch. They did decorate my office and give me a couple of gag gifts. Am I wrong to be disappointed? :(

Happy bday!!!! I can't comment, as I always tried to hide and make sure that no one knew it was my bday. And yes... I always took on the role of "lighting" or the like in the school play as well... :)
