Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Well folks, for the first time since this thread started, I am NOT staying up to check for a FP or anything. I am going to bed early. If they post them tonite, I will have to take my chances in the morning. I am pooped!

If you guys don't mind... We're staying at the cabins in Ft Wilderness, planning to swim, dine, and Chip 'n' Dale campfire on arrival day.

Arrival Dinner: Whispering Canyon Cafe (any other suggestions?!)

(MK day)
Breakfast: BOG pre-park
Lunch: Pecos Bills
Dinner: either in cabin, or P and J's Southern Takeout (Formerly Trail's End To Go)

(Epcot)
Breakfast: In cabin or P and J's
Lunch: Akershus
Snack around the food booths
Dinner: TBD--considering: Rose & Crown, Coral Reef, Biergarten, or off-site near Epcot

(AK)
TH breakfast or dinner? Both currently booked, undecided--waiting for the mythical dining package beast unless it's no DDP
Flame Tree BBQ lunch or dinner
What about Sanaa?! Or Yak N Yedi? Ugh

(HS)
1900 Park Fare breakfast before late arrival (Maybe I should change this to a non-char meal that would impress DH?)
Mama Melrose F! package dinner

(MK)
Breakfast in cabin
BOG Lunch
Columbian Harbor House dinner

This is our first time ever eating at MK (that I remember, went once) so advice is so so very appreciated!
We loved our 190 Park Fare breakfast. The Mad Hatter was hilarious!!!

Thank you all for the words of encouragement!! I appreciate it!

All of this makes me wonder, what do people who are not really paying attention to all things Disney before their trip - and I know they're out there - what do they do? Are they just blindsided when they get there?

Still trying to regroup...
Yes. Two families that we know went last year. Completely blindsided. Had a terrible time, told everyone and refuse to go back.
My sister is heading into MK with her daughters for 1 day only, this week. Spring Break! I asked if she already had tickets, MDE, any fastpasses because it will be super crowded. She was shocked you couldn't just buy tix at the window mid-day and expect to meet Anna & Elsa. I'm doing my best to walk her through. But really, it's too late. I wish she had told me sooner so I could help.
I really feel for the average person who sees a tv commercial and just buys tickets once they get to WDW thinking they can do what they saw in the ad.

Oh no! Ah, that is so awful. I hope your sister and niece are able to enjoy themselves now that you've helped and maybe modified their expectations!

When I showed my SIL a touringplans plan I made with 7 rides between 9 - 2, the longest wait being 30 minutes for Pirates, before heading to lunch, FoF parade and a break at the resort. She said, "Wow, is that accurate?" Her friend literally told her an almost hour wait for "it's a small world" is typical.

But then I had to reassure her we wouldn't follow everything step by step, it was just a guideline I made for fun. :D (Read: while waiting for RoL updates.)

Then I highly recommend Tusker. Lots of interesting things to try (and buffet so if you don't like them, get something else) and there is enough 'standard fare' that picky eaters won't starve. It worked for my DF who sometimes has the palate of a 2 yo and my actual 2 yo last year. It made me soooooo happy.
I might could talk DH into it when he goes June 2017 but it's mom and dad this year and it's a no-go. We discussed it, a few times, but no. Basically I had to beg mom to give in to a BOG lunch!

Maybe since it's so close - the change of EMH for MK, other people might be locked in as well with their plans. Just a theory, maybe it won't be as crowded as a typical EMH day?
Being so close, I'm guessing a ton of people won't even know about it to change anything. Unless they are on these boards, most people that close are either done planning or not doing any at all, anyway.
