Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

But if she goes twice during the premiere days, that means some other party will miss out on their chance to see it once. Maybe it's their "once in a lifetime" trip, and maybe they have children who will be sad when they miss seeing it because someone else hogged all the FP+'s or dinner packages.

Think of the children!

Let's keep it fair -- please don't be greedy with RoL FP+'s/dinner packages...

Same goes for buffets. No seconds on the bratwurst! Think of the nillas! Um, I mean, the children!

If she doesn't get the second FP, it doesn't mean the hypothetical "once-in-a-lifetime" family is going to get a spot. I could get the spot. I'll be at WDW during the premiere week and plan to be back next January. Using the same logic, doesn't that mean I'm also "greedy" for planning to go once during the premiere week?

Now figmentfan423 and I see the show once during premiere week, and the hypothetical children are still sad.

I just wish that they would say "Dining packages will be open on XXX date" and be done with it. This rumor stuff is for the birds. Especially if they are supposedly being started by "friends of CMs" - didn't someone say that a CM could be fired for saying anything that wasn't officially released. Why would a CM put their job on the line just so a "friend" could post it to the world...
Unfortunately Disney is notorious for working in generalizations....

Also, larry's not factoring in that those poor children stole the last TSM FPs for their third go-around!

But you saw it once, and they saw it once. That would be fair.
What if they see it twice and you don't get to see it all? Is that still fair to you?

I don't think so, but apparently, that's just my opinion.

Using that logic no one should ever repeat any ride or attraction during their trip. Or meal. Not just FP but stand by too.
Doing so potentially takes away a chance for someone else to do it
So tell us, do you ever repeat anything during your trip?

We have the same opportunity to book FP+ and ADRs. If I'm not on my game, I risk missing out. If I disagreed strongly with the way it works, I'd vacation elsewhere.

I totally agree that she can go every day if she wishes as long as she's not going on my week.
(Just kidding)

Apples and oranges. We're talking about a brand new experience for the whole world to see, with apparently very limited seating/availability. I wouldn't mind WDW clamping down on repeat reservations -- one per party per visit -- until the show has run for a while.

We both (all) know that won't happen.

After the show has been up for a while, I wouldn't consider it "greedy" if people double-dip. (the poster's term was "greedy," and again, why would they ask if they didn't feel at least a twinge of guilt at the thought?)

Oh for goodness sake, what utter nonsense.

If someone wants to book a dinner package every night of their trip, it doesn't matter to me. That's how Disney works; it doesn't divide up the experiences equally so everyone gets a turn, some people have to miss out on certain things. We're talking about a 20-30 minute show at a theme park here folks.

I do appreciate the sentiment, but the "fair" issue has no end to it. Not everyone is going to be able to see it during the "premiere" period, so - if I see it then and then would like to go back - say over Christmas - should I not do it because there are families having a hard time getting an ADR and I already saw it once?
Or, how about if we all just go to Disney once ... Surely without repeat visitors, people would have an easier time getting FPs and ADRs for everything - in fact, the lower park demand might get Disney to lower prices, making it more affordable to families who simply don't have the money to go now. Or maybe, after you go once, you should sponsor a family who can't get there on their own....
I really do appreciate that you're trying to level the playing field, but it's not realistic and the OP shouldn't be made to feel guilty just because she's able to and wants to go twice.

I don't think you are going to find many who agree with this.
And it's not apples to oranges when you are talking about someone's one and only trip. To them it's all brand new

I'm only planning on doing this once if I can get it, but I wouldn't have a twinge of guilt if I decided to do it more than once.

A WDW vacation is just that kind of vacation: it rewards planners. Rewards people who plan WAY ahead and stalk boards/twitter/FB/telegrams/smoke signals/whatever for every NEW experience.

It's not "unfair" -- the same chance to stalk all of this is out there for all... all who care to research. That's the definition of fair.

So, me of the 4/22 departure, has managed to convince DH to stay an extra night to see ROL! I'm not exactly sure how that happened. Now, opening night would not be my first choice, but I'm still riding the pixie dust that he let me change everything in order to try.

Room booked, flights changed, and now... the waiting....

I suspect if I can't obtain something - either FP or Dining Package - that ensures we can see it on opening night, he will make me change it back. But, I'm feeling lucky today...

Hey, it's an extra day. Just get in line EARLY. It's all you came to see. Certainly there must be some stand-by capacity with 3 shows a night.

As long as people have equal access to make their reservations/FP+ for this, that IS being fair. It is also quite possible that the RoL show will be viewable for lots of people that can't or don't want to book a dinner package. It's really up to each family to decide to book soon enough to get a package or to view the show without one.

I'm going in August and it might be my last trip for many years and it will be my kids last trip for at least 5. I would book the dinners at least a week apart

Um... on this thread can we just stick to the issue at hand which is when will we be able to book dining packages and fast passes for RoL?
Since it will be happening soon and this thread is how we will communicate any such information.

I would suggest starting another thread if you wish to voice your judgment on anything having to do with anything else.

True on the extra day - I'm pretty excited about that all by itself! And yes, if they have standby, I definitely will be parking there early if I can't nail it down another way!
