Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

It's ridiculous to say that someone should not book multiple days of dining packages/fastpasses if they want to use them for a new show. It's not greedy because someone may miss out. It's an advantage that comes with pre-planning. You snooze you lose. The person that is seeing the show with the package did the planning for it. I've done multiple wishes dessert parties in one trip before, I just don't like fireworks crowds. Why should I sit through something I don't like just so someone else who didn't plan ahead can have a better shot?

You all know they are going to roll it out in the middle of the night and not announce it right away. If they announced for example that it was going to open at 9am next Thursday the site would crash. Has anyone ever tried to register for a rundisney event? Same thing would happen for this times 1000!

I agree with the middle of the night comment but no matter when it gets rolled out I think I might have to wait until 7am for the phone lines:mad:

My MDE ipone app won't allow me to access ADR's after August 30th even though I should be able to access rest of my trip for Sept 1st and 2nd.

And although I can access the rest of my September trip dates on my pc the MDE site will not allow me to make add an ADR:(:badpc:

These issues have been occurring for two now.:scared::badpc:

Anyone else having the same problems?

I can't image what will happen to the site once RoL rolls out.

UPDATE: Magical .. somehow after two days I was able to make and change two dining reservations on my pc for our next trip. Is someone from Disney IT reading these posts:rotfl:

I'm going to end up doing someone a favor because I *hope* to book 2 reservations but I'll only keep 1 unless I'm able to get the fps I want in which case I'll only book 1. My problem is that I move offsite and if there's a ROL fp that's a game changer. However I only have 2 days to find this out and at the rate it's going it won't happen before my fp selection. Ah well it'll all shake out and someone may very well be the recipient of a late ROL ADR once I am able to finalize my plans. With it being so new there's no way in heck I'll go to ROL without a pass of some kind.

How many times have you been on a full park bus, only to tell the driver you want to exit so other people can get on instead?
When I get on the bus, I don't save an empty seat next to me because I think I have the right to take up two seats.

And don't get me started, because I'm a compulsive bus stander...

There is a DIS forum thread where you can announce you have an ADR to release, and anyone who wants it can PM you to coordinate the release so they can hopefully pick it up. I've been able to find several ADRs that are hard to get that way, and have also be one of the "releasers"...it's nice to be able to help out another DISer....

Not having that problem (yet) but I am annoyed that I can't pull up our two trips reliably. I can see our September trip on MDE and the July trip on the website but can't get both to appear at either place. I only have the one account so I'll have to check in with their IT at some point. :crazy2:

For the record, if I were going to a RoL show, I'd only go once, to give other people a chance. Others can (and have clearly stated they will) go as often as they like.

WDW doesn't care -- they've got our money already.

Some things will always be mysteries, or at least I will never quite understand... dark matter, how were the statues on Easter Island built, unification theory, how/why Disney IT is so messed up... :rolleyes1

I've tried that in the past, and we've never managed to make it work. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? I'm going to be booking a couple of dining packages because I don't know exactly when we'll go, and when I release the extras, I'd love to make it work with another person.

Here's the link to the CANCELLED threads - http://www.disboards.com/forums/disney-dining-reservations.180/

Different thread for each month.

A word of caution - this is NOT for ASKING for ADRs, they don't tolerate that very well...it's only for posting when you have one to release, and if you are looking for one, you need to watch that month's thread. When someone has one that meets your needs, you private message them and try to coordinate.

Every time I have done it, there seems to be a slight lag time from release to when it actually shows up as available, so keep trying for awhile. I've been very lucky!

Good luck everyone...hope this gets going soon!!!

ETA: Some of the hard to get ones don't last long after there is a post about cancelling, so you need to stay on top of it and message the poster immediately. You can then set up at time that works for both of you for the release-n-grab.

Thank you! I've tried to give away two ADRs in the past and have had the other person waiting, but both times they haven't gotten it. I'll try again if I get the RoL packages I plan to.

But you saw it once, and they saw it once. That would be fair.
What if they see it twice and you don't get to see it all? Is that still fair to you?

I don't think so, but apparently, that's just my opinion.

When I go to WDW I spend almost 2 days at AK. It is my favorite park next to Magic Kingdom. If I choose a FP on both days I do not feel bad. All families will have the opportunity to see it.... even if they have to line up early. The first 3 times that I went to WDW with my kids I didnt know about the Dis Boards, Disney groups, and didn't do any planning. I waited in line, waited for an hour to eat at a table service, etc. I missed nothing and still had awesome memorable trips. A FP to ROL is not going to make or break anyones vacation. I promise.

We usually spend 3 full days at AK when we go, so if I want to see it twice I will. AK is my favorite park and (my family's neck and neck tied for first with MK) I see FOTLK each and every day we visit as well. Same with Fantasmic at DHS

We don't even know if this show is going to be good yet. I wouldn't worry about hoarding yet.
