OH NO!!! I echo the "Stay Safe" post...bummer for those there now who planned this trip for so long, but maybe it's a different kind of adventure...hopefully the resorts will find something fun for everyone to do!

They've closed something like 4 times since opening due to weather. Doesn't it make sense to wait until a bit closer and models align before closing everything?

If they didn't have a high bar to close, people would constantly complain about how their vacations were ruined "for nothing".

I know there are things to complain about re: Disney, but this seems a tad much to me.

And btw, I saw reports as early as about noon about the closure (5pm today and closed tomorrow) and even posted here. If someone was to be impacted by this, they could have been looking around... Twitter, FB, here, any number of places. And they knew earlier through "official" channels about a 5pm close today. I think sometimes we get carried away here with negativity.

So it's raining here...

This is my first experience of a Florida hurricane and so far I'm not loving it. As crappy as it is here though, I can't imagine being on the coast. I'd be terrified.

Hope all our East Coast Loungers in Mathew's path stay safe! Isn't this kind of late in hurricane season for a storm this big? We were there when a big tropical storm hit, but if I remember correctly, it was torrential rain and wind, but not a lot of damage in WDW...that was nothing like a hurricane, I'm sure!

I confess…. I wasn't reading or posting to the lounge, because of was reading and posting to the Matthew thread.

Also loungers, our very own HopperFan is doing a marvelous job with staying helpfully informative over there.

Obnoxious Question:
Are any of y'all planning to go to Trader Sams in the next few weeks and willing to ship a ghost-tiki-mug? I'll cover cost and shipping through paypal. Understandably, my friends plans were changed due to Matthew, so I thought I'd ask here just in case a lounger was planning some hootenanny there.

I cancelled this week and heading in for a few days Halloween Weekend, have MNSSHP and at this point thinking of totally skipping AK. I'm so scared it will be packed because of folks hanging out hoping for soft open.

BUT since I am staying onsite thinking I'd really like to hang at the Nomad Lounge for a few lovely drinks.

I judge myself for thinking about adding a night just for the chance to visit more beverage places ....... when staying onsite with my DDBD ... Disney Designated Bus Driver ..... it's the perfect time.

I SO WANT TO GO TO TRADER SAM'S but 2 hour wait, DS can't do it. UGH. I am hardcore HM fan. So torn.

Looks like the storm was right on time. I guess this time of year the air temperature has the greatest difference from water temperature and that leads to ideal conditions. Also looks like 1900-1950 was a rough half century for you Floridians.

I SO WANT TO GO TO TRADER SAM'S but 2 hour wait, DS can't do it. UGH. I am hardcore HM fan. So torn.

While we were at TraderSams June 1-8, we found that there was no line at 3:20pm. We lined up and were the first to go in. This was on Wednesday. The line started in earnest about 3:45pm. Then we went at about 10pm on a Tuesday night and there was no wait and room in the inside-bar. Admittedly, it was that time of year, so I'm not sure how late October will fare.

Crystal, cast member maitre-skipper, was a delight to chat with while waiting, and the security guard also quite fun. We also found that the sushi-type appetizers were filling and served as an early meal, and allowed us to go back to the parks for the evening, or simply retire to the room.

We also brought tiki attire and fun hats to wear (tiki bead boppers, yacht captain, sailor hat). We had a lot of fun being very silly.

I know it's crazy- and I understand the ones out now are the version in higher numbers. We enjoy our nautilus and uh-oha we purchased when we visited. Cute, functional and fun. We didn't plan to engage in "entrepreneurship" with selling ours.
