Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

HA! I'm wondering the same things and I'm not going until August. I still have 2 days where I have more than one ADR and know one each day may get dropped. I have no clue ok sort of a clue what AK hours will be, but nothing after 5 for either of the nights I can go. It's crazy. I had to book dining at 6 months out and here I am just over 2 with plans still in the air. At least I'll be able to relax over at the darkside we may only make one ADR for our week there and just go with the flow. That worries me and comforts me at tie same time.
In case you are interested, Yak and Yeti has extended hours and reservations to 8 pm through Aug 20th even though park hours are still listed as 5 pm.

I noticed that but I wish they would just release the hours. My plans may depend on if they close at 8, 9, 10 or 11. That and I want to know if I'm going to be able to get a JB dining package. My dh loves JB so I'd like to be able to book it. I hate for anything Disney to be up in the air. I really hope we'll have more info next Friday!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Sorry I'm cranky due to not using snow days my kids have 1/2 Fridays!:headache::headache::headache:

I understand. I never imaged so much would still be up in the air for Aug at this point in time.

I never imagined it would still be so up in the air for JUNE at this point! It's a little over 2 weeks away and there are still *a lot* of unknowns. Hopefully next Friday will bring answers....

And I never imagined we would still be SOOO up in the air for May at this point!!! Here's to at least having some info before my trip!

Our upcoming trip has been -- by far -- the most stressful to plan....EVER. I definitely feel bad for the April & May travelers as things were constantly changing during those months. June travelers should (hopefully) have answers before arrival (though it will probably mean another late-night FP scheduling night...or two) and I think July, August, and September will fall in to place quickly after that. Though it seems to be that the new procedure is for Disney to update hours much later than in the past.

Agree.

But I think June, July & August are going to find the AK JAMMED PACKED with people trying to enjoy the evening events during an already busy time. The clammering for FP+ for JB and Dining Packages if they open them is going to be insane and standby lines painful.

I agree. I've already resolved that we won't be able to do everything at AK this trip and that our next trip will be after Avatarland opens so I'll just plan to spend 2 days at AK to try and hit everything. I'm still worried about Frozen. I know it will still be there the next time we visit, but the kids (and I use that term loosely as they're tweens, teens, and adults) *really* want to do this ride if it's open when we're there. Sadly, it's getting to the point where I kind of hope that Frozen doesn't open until after our trip. I know it's going to be a huge nightmare when those FPs go live and that there's a good chance I will have to shift things around to accommodate those FPs.....I'd rather just wait until our next trip when things will have calmed down a little bit. <sigh>

We ended up with an extra FP every day for each of us after I contacted the WDW exec office, so it would be great if all this stuff would open so we could use the extras for them...but I think we are going to miss a lot of stuff! Our trip is 6/4-6/11 so it looks like no FEA or Soarin. :(

Sadly, I think you're right about this.

WOAH Maybe I should try that! My brother and I really want to go, but just can't honestly swing the extra $$$. How did you phrase it? Like you were wondering about availability or what??? I don't EXPECT the same pixie dust you had, obviously, but it never hurts to ask!

It was AMAZING! Of course even better free but honestly if were not AP holders now it would be worth the $75 price but perhaps not the $150.

We road space mountain 7 times, 5 times in a row, and 7 Dwarf Mine train 5 times!

It was more crowded than the first reports showed, but in an exciting and comfortable way. 7DMT was the busiest and as we approached, we would be the next train to load! BTMRR had 1 train going but loading was as soon as you walked up.

Oh sorry! As for your question:

We checked in and got my best friend a birthday button and myself a celebrating "new job!" Button.

After we checked in we walked to concierge, which had a line, so a girl approached us with an iPad (I believe/some sort of tablet).

She said, "How may I help make your day more magical?" Or something along those lines and wishes my best friend "Happy birthday princess!"

Then I said that I had heard some resorts were able to give out passes to the Disney After Hours event today, and we thought it might not hurt to ask if there were any available?

She responded, "How many would you need?"

It started as a best friend girls trip but her bf and my husband joined us. :p We said: "We are a party of 4 but any at all would be so appreciated!"

"I think we can make that happen." She smiled and told us to wait by the online check in desk, and handed us 4 tickets to exchange for DAH tickets at the gate. :)

It took much longer to get to Poly (Trader Sams--wait was about 15ish minutes on a Thursday at 7) and then back to MK than I expected (partially because our lyft driver was on his second day and got lost... :/ ) but we made it in time to see Wishes!!! My very first time!! Then we had a FP+ for the late MSEP (also my first time seeing!) and then road tons of rides, had a few ice cream treats and water!

We didn't get back to ASMusic until 3:30 am and woke up around 9 am. Found a same day ADR at Kona for 11 am so booked it for breakfast. DELICIOUS! I love Poly! I think it is my favorite monorail resort. *.*

My husband commented about how happy I was and we were skipping and singing together in Disney that night! It was so magical and I think you could say he officially loves Disney too ♡♡♡ He did say he wishes we could always visit Disney in the evening with such light crowds and cool comfortable weather! He is actually looking forward to our birthday trip in September and wanted to stay another day to visit Animal Kingdom again but our friends didn't seem up for buying tickets so we didn't push it. :)

Sorry for rambling!!

Hey Loungers,

It's Friday the 13th and thought some dark humor, or at least laughing at another rolling eyes Disney story that starts with AK.

While the family dynamic story could provide enough material for a long running tv series, I'll be short. This is DH side, there has been much crisis, loss and incredible amount of responsibility put on us the last few years. (Poor DH, at least I can say they aren't mine) The "others" have done nothing but cause extreme distress and drama. I am done with all but one (who I adore). What one has done to me directly is unacceptable and we are at a place where I no longer have to participate. But when I had too it got bad enough I had to screen shot text messages for my proof. Lots of documenting. In 1.5 years there have been only 3 path crossings (2 weddings and a funeral) and I was ignored. Cool, life is good.

SO this morning I wake up to an email from the one who was a direct issue who also CC'd DH (part of the drama) to ask me some questions about going to Disney. She has not been since child so knows nothing and wants to take a young grand. Not asking for ideas or opinions or really help, just basically wants ME to find all the discounts and do hard work.

JULY. Going to AK. Someday later will return and go to Walt Disney World. Hehe, okay....

In FOUR nights wants -
- AKL 2 nights
- Offsite 2 nights at cheap hotel with fabulous pool slides etc for their pool day
- AK one day
- Another park one day; BB, SeaWorld or Universal
- Wants nighttime entertainment like fireworks and light shows
- Discounted tickets (you know with a combo package, like these businesses work together)

Yeah, I gave bare bones because if I did get specific, when this all goes south and it will, my fault. They are so clueless. And she is so controlling, this should be priceless, to be a fly.

I told her kid can't do Universal (young and scared of everything, even characters) so do SeaWorld and bundle with Aquatica, use that for pool day. Find a hotel close to all that you are comfortable with, I'm not offering up any names. Warning: AK is a cluster and while hoping the night stuff up in July it will be crazy. Disney is full price ticket. I am sure I didn't give her any of the answers she wanted. Oh well.

Really the best part is that they will return to Walt Disney World another time ............ that says it all.

Thank you! I forgot to mention, my best friend's birthday was 3 weeks ago and we never got to celebrate because of finals so we didn't make that up!

Sorry for the family drama, but glad it stays a non issue most of the time for you! -.-

:faint:

In-laws, right? While I don't have the same issue, I have an MIL that blatantly prefers SIL and her family. She's taken them to Disney like two or three times, a cruise, and DLR in the 7.5 yrs DH and I've been together. Ya know how many times she's offered to take us. Um....zero.

Im still in denial that when I leave my house for WDW this next week I wont have finished planning ny last few days there.

On another note.... Can we have a petition to keep disney dollars. What cool souveniers. And such a big deal to kids! I feel like disney is losing sight of the children at times and it is becoming, how can we make it cheaper but get more money from the adults. Such a small thing like a disney dollar, pressed penny, sticker, button is such a tangible memory for people. Ugh....makes me sad, now its all plastic cards, cell phones, and im waiting for the day disney takes bitcoin. Dont get me wrong I love the techy side also and improvements and new experiences are always welcome but stop messing with so much at once!

And stepping off my box now...

@HopperFan You could plan a perfect experience for them and they probably still wouldnt be happy. People who dont get disney and dont know the ins and outs just dont get it or appreciate it. I do feel bad for the child , every child deserves one parent as a disney fanatic! Good for you for even replying! Kudos, good deed for the day, check!

I think part of the problem was MIL loved me, had fun with me, laughed with me and right up until she passed with Alz, knew my name. No so much for her own girls. Oh well, maybe I'm just that special. :scratchin

I would LOVE if there were zero expectations to join in. There is a big birthday party this weekend, yup, we were not invited. :cool1: That is me doing the "on the no invite list" dance. It's CRAZY!!!! Funny part is I am in constant contact with one sib, multiple cousins, aunts etc (their side, not mine) ....... they all have my back ....

I had to reply, it's why she CC'd DH. If I don't then she's calling saying I'm refusing to respond to her messages....... DRAMA! But you are right even if it went perfect we'd hear different. Probably only asked me because her DH probably made her or the Mom of the kid (and she is one I do keep in touch with).

Oh fun! We are doing the 6:15pm show. If you see us either day say hi! I am 100% sure my DH will be in the "hat" - so you can't miss us! haha. I swear that hat comes on the second we sit down on the Magical Express.

We are trying the Garden Grill breakfast Friday morning. I hope it's yummy!

Can't believe we are leaving in 2 days!!
I will likely have on a purple LSU visor if you see me and a birthday button
