Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Are you from Louisiana? My husband is from Lafayette.
Born and raised there. I live in TX now tho.

So at the end of next week after Disney I am going to a conference. I found out last nite that "Harry Potter" is the scheduled event for Saturday nite. I am assuming this means they are taking us to Universal. Last time we were here they just took us to Citywalk. But with it being Harry Potter, I am assuming that means the park? I guess I will update you on that when I get back and know for sure. I know nothing about Universal. This should be interesting.

Here you go - likely this. Makes so much sense for meetings to add this to a program.

Just reporting in on our last day at the world. It has been an awesome trip so far!! The last few days crowds were so light we managed to snag SDFP for TSMM, Peter Pan and 7DMT after we had used ours!! And then we also got one for Anna and Elsa (OMG this was awesome!) My kids were delighted! Just about now I also managed to snag us a final day lunch in a couple hours at BOG! And I thought the same day ADR at Beaches and Cream the other day was the luckiest we could get :)

My kids have been awesome throughout the whole trip. We also were pixie dusted a few times which made up for the handicaps we had to go through with me in a scooter. We did Enchanted Tales with Belle four times in a row because it was walk on and my DD3 loved it so much. We had a CM escort us through on our last visit because I had asked for a wheelchair to self propell since it was just my DD3 and I but the CM said it was her last day in the college program and she wanted to see the show one more time. And then my DD3 was picked as Philippe the horse. It was so precious! I'm sad it's out last day today....

Is that from your conference? The Orlando Informer party is only UO, not IOA so sounds like there are two parties going on.

Okay guys. We don't have photpass but I couldn't pass up on what the ladies in the car next to us did on Buzz Lightyear. It was hysterical! Do I scanned my magic band with their picture.

I can't imagine carrying a teacup and saucer around!

Me neither but apparently they can! I talked to them for a few mins and they said they bring props for every ride. They are locals and they often come in just to do that stuff LOL

That's awesome!!! :D

So we leave in 3 days and I'm to the point of obsessing over the weather since there's nothing else to obsess about any more. Why does it have to show potential for storms every day we are supposed to be there? I know that Florida has storms in the summer, but seriously!

I'm all worried about our dessert party being rained out on our last day :/ Realistically I know that probably won't happen, but it's the one thing my mom was really looking forward to, so of course that's what I choose to worry about.

However, we'll be in Disney! So it will be a lot of fun regardless :) And last time I went in May the weather was fabulous, so I'm hoping this will be the same.

Sorry for ranting, but this doesn't really deserve its own thread, so I popped over here :)

@LindseyJo22 I wouldn't obsess so much about the weather. We had a 60% chance of thunderstorms yesterday and it never hit. I talked to a CM at the monorail about it and he said if the forecast is less than 80% chance it most likely will not hit. At least he's never seen it happen in the 10 years he's working at WDW.

Dessert Parties are never rained out. They have them rain or shine. MK is covered and DHS/Epcot they move them inside. You may not get fireworks but the party will still go on.

Oh, I definitely know that it's not that useful to obsess about the weather :P I'm pretty sure it had a similar forecast when we went a couple of years ago in May and almost never really rained - it's just that I have nothing else to plan and not much to do until we leave, so this seems to be the thing my brain latches onto since all the work of the trip is basically done. Thanks for the reassurance though! Those 60% chances seems high to me, but it's nice to know that they will probably not be too big of a deal. A rain storm in the afternoon isn't the end of the world anyway - they don't usually last that long :)

This is good to know! I figured that was the case, and I would obviously be sad if we didn't see the fireworks, but we've got a few other times to see Wishes this trip. So at least we will be getting the dessert we paid for - that was my concern, but I should have remembered that it would be fine. The one time I did the party it was kind of lightning and we were wondering if they would do the show, but we still got food! Thank you so much!

Hopefully it all works out! I'll be looking forward to reading about it all once you get back!

I'm at about the 3 week mark and I'm obsessing over my touring plans. I should've built in more mini breaks at the parks for shopping, sitting down, etc. Of course, we will just do it whenever we feel like it and adjust on the fly....but then I'll have to figure what to skip....

Oh my goodness, they're my new favourite people! Enjoying life, having fun. I think they deserve honorary lounge member status for the photo-prop hootenanny! :wizard:

On other news, my "Rumors of Light" buttons arrived this week! :woohoo: So now DH and I will be a little easier to find when we're out and about in a few weeks. I'm also trying to get back in the habit of getting up early enough to book the fastpass/ dining package when released. It'll be nice if it happens, though I agree AK is going to be a busy place- so we'll see what ends up actually happening.

Big hugs!
