Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

My plans for August are even more up in the air than before. ROL????? Interim show????? Any after dark hours in AK????? Nightly fireworks show in DHS????? What the heck do I do with my plans now????? THNX

I'm with you. I figured all would be set for my July trip, but now I'm not sure. I want to book a dessert party for the new Star Wars fireworks, but I'm not sure what nights they will be, or if dessert party will happen. So I need to leave a blank night for ADRs, in case. Also, animal kingdom. Not sure what to plan there....I would have liked good viewing for wishes, but I don't want to view from the terrace, so I didn't book dessert party. Now I can book same day, but don't get to stay WHE food is...that seems a waste.

Actually if you don't want to have to visit GR when you arrive, you just need to re-assign the PH pass to a phantom in your MDE acct. Then after this trip is over (or before the next trip), you can re-assign the ticket back to yourself.
I looked at that option, and it says it's non-transferrable...part of the package...since we'll being going to EPCOT first on Saturday, you go right by GS on the way to the main gate from the bus stop, so I'll just check in with them.

Thanks for your answer!

Well if this is any indication of what will be shared about RoL after the media event there tonight ..........

I see. I guess I thought it was tickets purchased separately. Glad it won't be too much of an inconvenience.

SO AS WE SPEAK the Media is behind the scenes at Frozenland. Waiting for them to "let details go".............. okay that was bad.

to bigger things...... :lmao:

WELL all LOUNGERS .... what do we think will happen tonight for the media event at AK?

- A legit one time showing of RoL.
- A watered down low calorie version of RoL they are threatening to bless us with.
- A shadow puppet show of things to come.
- A brochure with drawings of what they are working towards.

AND

- A promise of more info in Mid-May
- A tentative opening date .. but then which show?
- A solid opening date (okay even I laughed out loud)
- Surprise it starts on April 22 as planned. :faint:

OKAY .... it surely is noon somewhere, too early to hit the LOUNGE? :drinking1

Maybe an actual puppet show with sprinklers and flashlights (mickey mouse ones of course, buy one for $20 you can be a part of the show!)

How can I book reservations for the Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party with fireworks viewing in the Plaza Garden area?

Same-day reservations are available by visiting the Tomorrowland Terrace podium starting at 10:30am each day.

It will be interesting to see how this will play out at 10:30am each day. I can't seem to get past making a same day reservation. If this becomes hugley popular, as I am sure it will be especially when MK is packed during the summer, will people need to line up at the podium by 9:30am? I see pros and cons. If you really wanted to do this, same day reservations would be to your advantage because at least you could check the weather for that evening before paying. On the other hand I would not want to waste valuable park time waiting in line to make a reservation.
I should congratulate Disney for successfully frying my brain prior to our vacation.:confused3:crazy:

We are curious how long after signing the paperwork are we eligible for the perks such as buying DVC AP's? I know you get a membership number and what not but is there a lag in perks?

OK, so I'm going by memory from our September trip here - and I don't have the Disney bill with me any more. We had gotten our paperwork mailed to us to go over before we went down to Disney, but we signed the DVC papers while we were on our trip. Because we were buying direct, we had a member number and such pretty much immediately - we wrote it down to make sure we had it if we needed it (it's on the paperwork, but we obviously weren't carrying that to the parks :P ). From what I remember, we got APs later in the trip - upgraded from our park hopper tickets - and received the DVC price. This may have been a few days later. You can also link your DVC number to your regular MDE profile with the member number I think, so that should let the CMs know that you are new DVC members.

@yulilin3 Is there a reason that Symphony in the Stars is not listed for Saturday night in May except for May 28?

That's our only DHS day and we'd love to see it, but it's not scheduled. It just doesn't make sense to me that they will show it on a Wednesday, but not a Saturday.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

FWIW, I read somewhere (actually, I think I read it at least 2 places) that even though Disney released updated calendars yesterday, they will most likely update the hours/schedules for Memorial Day weekend and beyond at the beginning of May.

I have often seen opening or closing different than published once I get there - as in opening earlier like 8:30 instead of 9, or closing later than I had anticipated.

Not sure how much we can count on the website but the new star wars fireworks SPECTACULAR is supposed to run nightly in the "summer"
"Conclude your day in a galaxy far, far away with an all-new nighttime spectacular bursting with memorable Star Wars moments—nightly starting summer 2016"

Actually, Symphony in the Stars is showing as being held on 5/28 @ 9:45 p.m. on this update:

ETA: Just re-read your message and realize you were stating that 5/28 is the *only* Saturday it's being shown. I obviously need a nap.

Visit a Guest Relations booth before entering the park and ask them to prioritize your AP ahead of your MYW tickets. I'm not sure if this is necessary or if the AP will automatically be prioritized ahead of other tickets, but you can make sure by going to the booth first.

Yep --- I had posted that situation--- We are going to have "split-tickets" in July --- thanks to everyone for the replies/help !! We called just to make sure--- we are going to go to guest relations and they will make sure the tickets are prioritized--- thanks again !!

What they failed to mention in the article is that for $199 PP, you can throw on the scuba gear and try to find the sunken Flower barge !! Hey, does Disney offer an AARP discount -- ??? because by the time ROL is ready, I might be able to save a few bucks !! Our kids too !!

OK, folks, so, I read info regarding someone else having a situation where one in their party had an AP, which would be active, and the others in the party had PH passes. I think heromyhero answered the OP's question, and since I didn't put two and two together, I didn't pay much attention to the answer. But it occurred to me (better now than later!!!) that I'm in a similar situation, and that I might need to do something for my upcoming trip:

For the upcoming trip leaving this Saturday, the other 3 folks will have PH passes. Since my AP still current, I will be using that. It's a "group" reservation.

In November, I have plans for another trip, but since this one will be AFTER my AP has expired, and I'm probably not going to be renewing, I also included PH passes for both of the traveling parties (this is a MYW package).

QUESTION: How do I make sure that when I go through the tap style, my AP is used and NOT my PH pass intended for that trip in the fall?:scratchin

Best idea is to visit guest services outside of the park and ask them that question. For us, the Cast Member marked our APs with a 1 and our MYW tickets with a 2 so that we were able to save our MYW tickets to use later. Hope this helps!
