Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

:offtopic:
I just had another lovely chat with Jenny about my follow-up letter sent to Mr. Kalogridis.
She went through my points one by one, and says the comments included have been shared with George and his executive team.
One suggestion made was for them to go view the comments made on the postponement Blog, which she did prior to the call.
My final point was how the extra $ park events just keeps building in quantity and it is having an impact on schedules for the 'average' park goer.
She was very appreciative of the feedback and empathetic to not just me, but the large group of us impacted.
At the very least, I am left with the impression they are listening. Hopefully the May/June group will get better communications, scheduling etc. as a result of the group that has already reached out to his office.

Oh hey, I just re-read the Post Title and I'm actually On Topic....I thought this was a Manicure Forum for a minute...

So after the blow of no ROL, I was looking for something special and fun to do with the fam. After reading this mornings posts and some great reviews I just booked the family magic tour for our last day 4/26. Nothing like giving Disney even more of my money after finding out we are missing out on AK nighttime activities! Sounds like fun though and I am now looking forward to this! :flower:Oh and did I read somewhere no backpacks or bags at all allowed? I wasn't told this on the phone. I need somewhere to put my stuff. She just said adults need photo ID and picture and video is encouraged.

Ha! That's funny we're all booking this now - we'll have a Extra Magic roll call instead! I would rather be going to a ROL preview party, but I'm super excited for this tour! I was thinking the same thing about the $ - I should save it but it was burning a hole in my pocket!

I was reading @beesly 's post when I was on the phone, so I asked the CM- she said that on some of the back stage tours they say no backpacks for security reasons, but not this one? but who knows? Often CMs give different answers - maybe someone who has done can chime in?

My nails are not very thick. I think I'll forego the gel manicures.

Seriously considering the mani/pedi at Swan and Dolphin for $51 + tip ($140 value.. is 20% off value price an acceptable tip? I feel like a little kid--I've never been to an actual spa!)

"A 50-minute manicure and 60-minute pedicure with a bamboo massage, conditioning body butter, and the fragrances of coconut, citrus, and lotus flower milk."

DH and I did a 1-hour massage and 1-hour pedicure at Mandara at the Dolphin on our last trip. It was great! They were renovating but we hardly noticed. We walked over on our EPCOT day (could have taken the boat, but we were fine with walking). We also got the complimentary childcare at Camp Dolphin, and DD (who was 5) had fun there and got dinner as part of it, too. I'd recommend it if it fits into your schedule and budget! We would go back but we're trying the Senses spa at GF this year since we'll be at the Poly.

I know - I'm feeling left out - it's never occurred to me to get a pre-trip manicure before! Need to get on it!

I forgot to mention Austin called me Tuesday and we had a long talk - went through all the points of frustration, not just ROL. I do think that they are listening and sharing feedback, although not sure if it will stem the tide. I hope they see all the comments on the postponement blog, since they deleted so many (such as mine!). I agree - I hope the May/June people fare better, but this morning thing is definitely another last minute kink to plan around...

Have you also tried setting up a search for your whole group including your niece? You may be able to find a different time for all of you vs. finding a specific time for just one person.
Yes. I'm also searching for groups of 7 for both BOG (1:15 pm) and Scifi (1:30 pm) plus Akershus (6:30 pm) but no luck so far. I still have 3 weeks to go so fingers crossed.

What topic...we left the ROL one long ago! HA HA HA
Hey, don't laugh...I was quite surprised at how many men get pedicures at my salon...feels weird but they are regulars! One father always comes with his daughter...I think that's really a cool dad! And some do even get manicures, without the polish, of course.

As to the phone call, thanks for explaining it to them again that decisions made in boardrooms and high level offices can and do affect us all...and it's because we keep coming back, that they can grow and build. We shouldn't be seen as complainers and whiners, but as the people they are making these decision FOR!

I am grateful to all of you that have taken the time to reach out directly to the Disney Company. I don't think they value the repeat customer as much as the first time visitor. The hard ticket event explosion and changes to DVC perks (I am not dvc) also bother me. It all goes to further my conviction that this April visit will be our last family trip for several years. We will be exploring off property lodging and attractions next visit too.

I was wondering which park it was closest too! Thank you. :) I don't know if there's anywhere in our schedule that makes sense this trip.

Oh my goodness! Sorry you went through that!
Yeah, apparently not for me. I get a pedi every few months at a tiny little neighborhood salon, I'd never committee to getting my nails refilled every 3 weeks!
I'm lucky I can go 4 weeks between fills. One hour all to my self once a month is worth every penny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe when both DH and I are done with college and I'm working full time I'll start splurging! :D For now... I'll stick with an almost $5k Disney vacation . :rolleyes1 So thankful for my MIL paying for the entire lodging portion of that... even though we tried to insist on paying half. We wouldn't be able to do all these TS meals otherwise.

I really hope that they don't do away with allowing people to bring in food. I understand not bringing in like whole lunches or whatever but to not be able to bring in snacks? That's crazy. And how do they distinguish between food for adults vs food for babies? Allergies? Etc.

The CM on the phone with me said something like "I think they say no bags because of all the running around you'll be doing." :confused3 I'd also like to hear from someone who's done it before!

Have you tried getting 2 smaller tables?
It seems for now at least, all 3 are sold out for the days I am looking for with the exception of BOG for 1 at 11:40 am or 2 pm (ours is at 1:15). I will keep checking.

I'm hoping/assuming the BOG one will be fine with the 15 minute difference. They'll probably/hopefully just let her in early since it's seat yourself anyway.

Scifi may be more problematic. A 30 minute difference may be an issue.

If we can't get her into Akershus, we've decided we can drop that one (I've made backup plans for Tutto Italia just in case). We'll be doing lots of Princess MeetNGreets anyway including Ariel (in her Grotto), Cinderella (at 1900 Park Fare), Jasmine (in Adventureland) and we'll see Belle at Enchanted Tales plus we're doing Fairytale Hall for the Sisters and the other side Princesses so dropping Akershus would not be the end of the world.

I I have a ton of jamberry - love how they last (never get my nails done anymore because they chip up in 24 hrs and not a fan of harsh chemicals), but I don't use them very often because they ARE a PAIN IN THE BUTT to put on...just FYI.
