Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Just because the reservations and times are not out, does not mean Disney has wavered on the opening date/times of ROL. If they're prepared to make an announcement, like they did last week, with a date, they're probably pretty comfortable.

I suspect that it has something to do with a restaurant and whether or not it will be ready (Tiffins). They don't want to give out reservations before they're 100% certain that everything is in place. Think we're ornery now? Imagine if they had to cancel everyone's DDR at Tiffins??

I think Disney is pretty confident they'll get the masses their, even with short notice.

Do they need to do soft openings for ROL? Can't they do what is typically a soft opening but after hours since the park isn't open late yet? I can see one or two nights to possibly test loading and unloading an audience if that is even necessary.

On the second of my two daily calls the CM (who incidentally didn't seem to be in a very good mood) told me that there were NO preview events planned at this time; they had been pushed back or suspended indefinitely. I told her I wasn't interested in April that I wanted to know about ROL packages for May. She then mumbled something about April 22 and I let it go. She didn't seem to be able to add anything new and was only serving to confuse me more.

Learned that the hard way - when I worked at the Disney Store we got to see the first or an early preview of Aladdin. I commented on my FB how they had made no changes from the critiques of the show's pre-Broadway run in Toronto - the problematic things were still there and seemed implanted. Another CM told our manager I had been critiquing it, and I got called into her office and lectured. NOTE: I did not say it was bad. There were some good things (most of them having to do with Genie), but most shows use out of town critiques to make changes rather than repeating them on Broadway.

I think it's pretty reasonable for companies to expect their employees not to disparage them on social media, etc. I suppose anonymously is one thing that may be more challenging or more of a gray area, but under one's own name? Assuming that the remarks are actually disparaging, it's a fair thing to call an employee on. Outside of something extreme covered by whistleblower laws, I think Disney's expectations are pretty standard.

Sometimes it seems like some people see this differently because Disney is an entertainment company -- and employees are customers as well and might feel entitled to share their views. Imagine a lawyer going online and disparaging his/her law firm? Pretty much over, I think. ;)

Sooooo, I'm strongly considering testing the fates tomorrow and sleeping until 6:15 am.

Thoughts? concerns?

It's part of my new outlook for my April trip. I've been practicing my new mantra, "If you love Rivers of Light, set it free. If it comes back, it's yours. If not, it was never meant to be." ;)

Also, cool to see all the new peeps come out today - hello! - I think that last blog post really had an effect! :crazy2:

I'm in the same boat. ..if it happens...great! I'll keep checking, :surfweb: but I'm done with the fixation..
:welcome: to our new friends!

we will be in AK on April 20th so either there will be something going on or not I guess??

At this point, there's been a lot of conflicting information (or rumors) as to whether there will be preview parties or not, that week. MDE still says a start date of 4/22, but no one seems to know for sure.

Yes they can and they have but usually they need a guest test as well. For rides they do plenty of Imagineer tests, CM tests, and then guest tests before they open it to all.

You're having WAY too much fun after discovering emojis!! ;) :rotfl::banana:

Btw: I like your Tigger pic!!

I am - I really wanted to use the off topic one! Really just in celebration of this thread!

I would like to use dancing banana, but I feel that I must wait - I am hoping I can use it to celebrate some type of ROL victory!

Thanks on the Tigger pic - that trip was a couple of years ago - they were so cute at that age (They're still cute, but getting too big! Not too big for Tigger, but in a general sense!)

I understand on ALL counts!! :)

Alright - who is buying virtual coffee for those of us crazies getting up way earlier than necessary to call tomorrow morning?!

BTW - What is a "WDW Golden Spoon?"

I'm yet another one that has been lurking on the thread. I will be making a short trek to WDW 5/19 - 5/22. It was originally planned as a SWW trip but when that got canceled we decided to make the best of things. Decided to do the Wild Africa Trek and now really hoping RoL is in full force with special dinner seating. We, of course, will be doing what Star Wars events and fireworks are available at HS but now thinking we will be spending a ton more time in AK. I am a fanatical planner and really hope Disney releases the info soon. I really feel for those going right around the opening date and are stuck with no info.
