Great! First Frozen and now this. At least they threw us a bone and are closing BTMRR later. I feel bad for my 2 DGDs. Between the expense and the oldest starting school, this was our last for a long while.

Guest relations called me after I wrote an email. She said the official word is packages, fastpasses, special preview parties have been "postponed indefinitely" and will not be going up Tuesday. I asked her if ROL is still going on April 22nd and she said it has been "postponed" and to keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog as they would announce it there a few days before it goes up. She then asked me for my resort and asked if I got all the ADRs I wanted and I said yes. She looked in my account, said I was a pro at Disney planning and that I had great ADRS and that was that.

Thanks for posting about your email. I have some experience with WDW and booking special events. Sometimes the information we receive from guest relations or phone CM's is accurate, sometimes it's not. That's the honest truth.
Decisions are made at much higher level, as I'm sure you realize. They do (and have) changed things as circumstances warrant. I think the best we can do is keep each other informed on the tidbits of info we hear, and wait for more official word. Sharing information is very helpful, and much appreciated as wait to see what evolves.

And even with official word, things can change. I've learned it's not at all a bad idea to continue to check occasionally, as well as call and inquire politely. It's been well worth my while when suddenly something is bookable. Things change with Disney. That's the one thing I can count on.

Thanks, but boo!! Well... we can catch it in Apr, but our Aug trip -- when a friend is joining us who has never been to WDW -- we'll miss it. Whatever happened to major refurbs mostly in off season?

Yes, I agree. Any information I hear I share with my Dis family first. I am going to keep checking, just in case but not frantically. Things do things and Disney tries their best to be "perfectionist" they would rather have ROL done right rather than slopped together. So I'm happy to wait. I did tell her that Disney World should follow Disneyland and make dining and events open 60 days before, instead of 180 when hours and times are released. She totally agreed and she said she would pass the information along.

the disney site still says rivers of light opens on the 22nd--I wouldn't completely write it off yet. as for advanced prep (dining and FP+), who knows at this point. my fingers are still crossed!

and even if it isn't open, or if dining/FP+ problems drag on, we can all drown our sorrows in Disney world!

The only way I found out it had been moved is it came time to book my fps a week ago and BTMRR was available. I was confused so I looked it up and the date was changed.

I am still reasonably hopeful. We'll see how things evolve over the next few days.

Fingers crossed for us April people! Whatever happens, we'll have a great time at WDW.

This is true! It does still say 4/22. Keeping hope alive until otherwise proven - generally I can roll with the punches, so I don't mind if things need to be switched up - fortunately we don't have a lot of "hard to get" ADRs, and we're there long enough that the FP situation should be okay, so I'm sure I can pull things together. I told DH that if there aren't any preview parties, we just devote that last day to AK/ROL regardless of crowds, and just enjoy the chaos!

And on your last point - yes! I have always been in the camp of, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade...or lemontinis..."

Thank you for posting. However, Guest Relations also sent out an email confirming that Star Wars Weekends would definitely be happening this year, and they are not. I don't think anything is done until it's done, and will continue to check, because you just never know.
