Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Hey, while I didn't get up at 4:45 to check (would have had to be 3:45 to allow for DST) the first thing I did when I DID get up and sit down with my coffee was hit the Disney website...not surprised, so therefore, not disappointed...ok, maybe a little disappointed. After all, they did start their price increase for park tickets on a Sunday....in my mind, there was a chance anyway, however slim. :magnify:

Any thoughts on if they will update AK park hours when ROL dining packages release? I hope so. I'm approaching my 180 day mark for ADRs, and availability of popular venues tightening up in all the parks compared to August dates. Will I need a dining package for good ROL seats, or will it still be possible to get good seats without a package? Planning do do this on day 5 or 6 of our 7 day trip.

I can't wait to hear initial reviews and people's experiences seeing this... thanks all!

Waiting on Disney...

39 days and counting for my sister and I, we had hoped ROL would be released on Earth Day so we planned all of our meals and fast passes in AK, 8:30am at Tusker and 4 at Yak so we have ample time after to enjoy the park after sundown with Everest Dinosaur and Safari FPs during the afternoon , with Disney making us plan everything so far in advance we have our entire trip scheduled and ready to go and this is our only night at AK unless we can finagle something around, I hope they post dining packages or FPs soon! I'd like to get one of the two nailed down so we know we're all set and can "relax" the rest of our wait :/

Come on Disney, help some sisters out!

Pretty much questions no one can answer yet
Other than the park hours will be changed
But no one can say for certain what those hours will be

I'm hoping for May 16. Did anyone call to see if the preview packages were ready today?

I called, since they've told me to "keep checking". I wasn't really expecting the packages to be available, as there wasn't anything on the website. I was hoping that there might be a few more tidbits of information about what the preview parties would entail, mostly because of our dates. We're trying to figure out if we go for one of those or try to go for opening night. The preview parties throw off a lot of our plans, however, I'm going to go out on a limb and say opening might be slightly crowded and have it's own complications. I was just hoping to get a little more information so we can try to anticipate if it will be worth it to change park days, FPs, ADRs, etc. to do the preview party, but alas, this CM seemed to have less information than yesterday's. So...planning limbo continues...

While I am fairly certain it is not the intention of Disney to inconvenience its guests who are paying quite a bit to be there, that is certainly the result; especially for those who are pretty "locked in" by their ADRs and fps, many of which are near impossible to change. Which then locks us in to 1 or possibly 2 days with which we can try to get the ROL package. Particularly those of us who feel the necessity to plan in order to give our friends and families the smoothest and best experiences we can; this planning made necessary by the advent of special offers, discounts, free dining, and a fastpass system which leads to long waits and much larger crowds. Sometimes I feel like a bug under a microscope.
So yes, I am irritated, perhaps in part by lack of sleep and finding it necessary to be on my computer a hundred times a day.

Guest relations called me after I wrote an email. She said the official word is packages, fastpasses, special preview parties have been "postponed indefinitely" and will not be going up Tuesday. I asked her if ROL is still going on April 22nd and she said it has been "postponed" and to keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog as they would announce it there a few days before it goes up. She then asked me for my resort and asked if I got all the ADRs I wanted and I said yes. She looked in my account, said I was a pro at Disney planning and that I had great ADRS and that was that.

I wonder if there's a kink with the show, and it won't be ready when they thought:confused3 I am secretly glad if it's not available on Tuesday, since we are on vaca in Orlando now. However, I will probably still check before hitting RD, since I will be up anyway:sad2:

I am glad I am not going until the end of July. Hopes it up and running by then. She also said Tiffins is no where near ready for opening any time soon.

I would be so heartbroken if this is true :( my vacation starts 4/21 and we have everything planned in AK on the 22nd with the hopes ROL would start this day
